October Babies 2011 - Our Tri-3 thread :D

Had some really good news today that my friend is 16 weeks pregnant! She been keeping quiet till now as she suffered a mc around the time I found out I was pregnant and before that lost her daughter at 3 weeks old due to a rare genetic disorder so they wanted to get all the tests etc out of the way before telling everyone their news. I did have my suspicions but didnt want to bring it up until she was ready for the world to know. So pleased the baby is healthy and she can relax and enjoy things a bit more now!

Can we please all stop bragging and posting about how much time we have left till maternity leave!! I'm working right up until the end as I have no maternity leave and I'm getting very jealous. Cow bags! ;)

It's rubbish you don't get the same maternity as us, how long will you take off when baby arrives?

DW, because of how long I've spent working out of the country over the years, I don't qualify for maternity pay. Being self employed too, I'm joining you in the working until day of delivery!

Am cutting down to three days a week though. And having a long weekend off at 37 weeks for a trip away, just OH and I before pickle's arrival

Completely off topic to maternity leave but does anyone have any good ideas to help with pain in the kidneys from a uti?

Been in agony all day. First off started getting braxton hicks for this first time ever whilst my kidneys decided to join in the fun and I'm in really bad pain. Been to get looked over and have now got antibiotics but I need somethig to take this god awful pain in my back away. I'm in tears.

Any ideas girls? xx

When I had a uti and kidney stones a couple of months ago I drank water with fresh lemon in, it's supposed to help, I also made some lemonade, and just drank loads. I was also give cocodamol for the pain. Can really sympathize, so painful, hope you feel better soon x

I know we have a thread in pregnancy chat but now we are all here, i thought it would be nice for us to have a tri-3 thread.

how come ur working til the end?

We don't get any maternity leave in Guernsey, so any time I have off will be unpaid leave. We will struggle to pay the mortgage while I'm off anyway without taking time off before baby is born.

Are you taking any annual leave once LO is here hunny? X x

I'm planning on taking off 5 months unpaid leave so come back to work around the 1st April 2012, depending on when baby makes his/her arrival!

Glad I wont be the only one!! :oooo:

I did it with Lennon and it wasn't too bad to be honest. I worked the day I went into labour!

It's tiring, but not too bad. Don't know how you work and look after lennon.
I've been told by so many people that they are bored on maternity leave, at least we won't get that.

Found a bit of a trick, Amazon! With not much time for shopping for bits, it's been really useful to buy everything in one place at a time to suit me.

Amazon and Mothercare online have been the solution for me... Amazon seem to have everything and at a good price.... :)

Exactly, we definitely wont be bored!!

I was so so so excited and looking forward to giving birth, I know I would have been sat at home counting the days and it would have been dragging badly. At least with working I worked 7.30am-12pm (was our normal hours for a Friday), had my hair cut, did all my house work, painted the kitchen and then sat down to relax late afternoon and went into labour that night at 39+0 so literally had NO time to think about when he was coming and it was great. No going overdue or calender watching thinking when he was going to make an arrival.

I've just bought 2 pairs of PJ's (don't usually wear anything to bed so have none!!) and some new slippers to wear in hospital after the birth from Next. Been doing a lot of stuff online too!!

Online shopping is so good when you're at home! I've been ordering loads! Having time to look around you can find some really good websites with special things to buy for LO.

I'm at home all the time, not on maternity leave, but I just finished my degree a couple of months ago, and with OH working offshore we decided it's best for me not to work for the near future. He's away for 6 weeks, then home for 6 weeks, so when he's home we can just spend the time together, it wouldn't work if I was out working the whole time he was home! We're fortunate that he earns a very good wage so we can afford it, so we may as well make the most of it.

The only down side is I'm at home all the time on my own! Amazon etc are very good distractions though!

Xx

Need new PJs etc for hospital, considering pinching some of OHs t-shirts though. Am still enjoying working, and whilst I need time to finish things, am kind of ready in my head, so if nothing more is done, we can manage! My amazon order arrived today so pretty much set now.

My pram is getting delivered today, yeah!

yay! so exciting! :bunny:I've just had my cot bumper, fitted sheets, wallpaper border and some little wooden animals which I ordered all delivered to my work they're lovely! Just the curtains to come now but they are out of stock until September... x x

We now know that we'll be having a little girl, Vanessa, so we're both ultra excited (my OH really wanted to have a daughter). Can't wait to meet her, only 57 days to go!!

Still not arrived yet, guess I'm going to be stuck in all day waiting! I went for the urban jungle mountain buggy in the end with the carry cot attachment, just want to play with it!
