Chart Stalkers January 2008

Morning all

Chrissy so sorry that AF arrived :(

Bagpuss are you going to the docs about the spotting? Your temps are still up though so I'm still hopeful for you.

Gypsy 9dpo already :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: fingers crossed for you!

And Kitty 5dpo so early in the cycle, amazing really! Hope you enjoyed your run.

Sookie I hope Kitty is right and that you will ov over the weekend.

Loola really glad your OH is feeling happier and you're getting some BD in at the crucial time after all.

KMAC be interesting to see what your temps are doing this morning - hopefully FF can be a little more specific than an day range, which I guess is based on your CM?

Scones its really odd looking at a chart with no temps  what day did you get the surge on the OPK? Am I being dim as I can't see it on your chart.

ROM how are you? Stuck in the very boring bit of the cycle like me, waiting to ovulate, pah!

Babydust and Mildly our lucky graduates  hope everything is going well :D

I hope I haven't missed anyone! If I have I'm sorry!

I feel like crap I have a tummy bug, started last night and OH had it yesterday but is starting to feel better so I don't think it is that awful one that is doing the rounds. I also have an awful headache. I'm actually glad I'm at the boring bit of my cycle, if it was ov time there would certainly be no bd, if it was post ov I'd be thinking they were symptoms

Help needed please? Is my cycle looking okay? I've never had solid lines so I'm excited about that :cheer: but usually my temps before OV are much lower than after? Any theories as to why? siorry if it's a daft question.

Hello all! There's so many now!!!! I've given up all attempts at reading a book and just spend my time keeping up with you guys
:rotfl:

Trudy the solid lines mean that FF is pretty sure you did OV on that day - your temps look like they are rising nicely - see how they go over the next couple but I bet you will see a nice thermal shift.....

Hmmmm so now the symptom spotting will begin :rotfl:

I know. . It's terrible any whiff of nausea and I'm sure I'm pg even before OV!!! :rotfl:

Thanks for the link Gypsy.

Hey Trudy, I had a sneaky peek at your chart this morning and thought it was looking good - even better with today's temp added!

CB23 and ROM - sorry you're stuck in the boring bit. Guess I skipped the boring pre-ov bit this cycle, having skipped the exciting post-ov bit last cycle! :rotfl: CB23 - hope your tummy bug goes soon. How far are you from ov, do you think?

Didn't go for my run after all - as soon as I turned off the pc and pulled on my trainers, the sky darkened and it pissed it down :x I was expecting a furniture delivery at 9, so figured I'd go afterwards - but the delivery still hasn't come  And it's started raining again. I can see I'm not going to get much work done today either, despite getting out of bed at 6 with the best intentions. To top it all off, I read in this morning's Times that everywhere's selling out of scallops, thanks to Gordon Ramsay deciding that the nation has to cook scallops on Saturday evening with him! :wall: :wall: :wall: Though when I had a mini-rant to DH, he said 'should you be eating shellfish anyway?'. Hadn't even thought of that.

Do you all treat the 2ww as though you were pg, just in case, and avoid shellfish, unpasteurised dairy/soft cheese, etc? It hadn't occurred to me to do so before. Oh joy. Yet more of life's simple pleasures slowing drifting out of the window in the unrelenting quest for a baby...

sorry, forgot Gypsy

Looking really promising there - and into the 1ww now... for a BFP for you!

Morning Kitty - I know what you mean about getting up with all the best intentions - I was up at 7.00 and had a tidy about, came back upstairs to shower and took one look at Dave in bed and caved in!!!! Just got up again now after a serious morning of Loooooovvvvvveeee (we were good though giving my body a month to get back on track properly :D ) In fact it was just so nice to be bedding because we wanted to not just to ttc.....

Anyway back to the food question - I had this discussion with my consultant (god you will get sick of hearing that), she believes that as long as you dont eat raw shellfish and things like cheeses from the farmyard in France that you shouldnt restrict your diet - the only thing she felt was a real no-no is caffine, either in coffee or coke type drinks - she feels it is the cause of many peoples problem to conceive. I asked her about nuts and she feels unless there is someone in your immediate family with a severe nut allegy it is a good thing to eat a few peanuts when you are pregnant - she believes that you build up resistance within the baby whilst it is in the womb - I love pate and asked her about that - she said anything in moderation - if you are out for a meal and you fancy it then eat it but she wouldnt recommend you eat it everyday...... I suppose what she was saying is be sensible - nothing raw but otherwise if its cooked either at home or in a restaurant of a high standard then she wouldnt stop eating anything.....

I'm happy with that except now I have totally cut out caffine I am getting awful headaches but I suppose that just shows what an effect it does have on your body......

but I love my squidgy cheese! I want a :waaaaaah: emoticon!

Yeah, I'd read that about caffeine too - in the Zita West book, and there was an article by Marilyn Glenville in Times 2 yesterday. Actually, hang on a sec... here it is:

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/health/article3197591.ece

I don't drink coffee/tea any more (though I had a couple of sneaky coffees over Christmas!) but I admit I have the occasional hot chocolate. I had one the other afternoon in Planet Organic, but I had the most horrendous stomach pains by the third sip... don't know if it was the unexpected caffeine hit, or the guilt! I gave up caffeine and alcohol for Lent last year, and I remember the headaches from the coffee withdrawal all too well. They were so bad I never really started drinking it again. I've told all my friends I'll be giving up caffeine and alcohol for Lent again this year (and I will - no wine even when AF arrives, and no hot chocolate at all) - but hey, what a handy cover-up!

I once gave up cake and biscuits for Lent, only to realise that if you don't normally eat something, there's no real deprivation in giving it up  I usually give up alcohol, and that's not much of a problem, but the caffeine abstention last year was horrendous - a real deprivation. I'm having a bit of a moral dilemma over whether giving up caffeine and alcohol for Lent this year is enough, or whether it's just self-interest. Maybe I ought to give up meat too - I love my roast chicken...

enough of my ramblings! (can you tell the bloody furniture still hasn't arrived?!)

ROM - did you ask the consultant about alcohol, too, or was that a given? Just wondering cos you didn't mention it in your post.

Sorry to gatecrash here girls....I started following this topic when I started charting, but never really posted anything one here - I gave up charting after the first month as FF couldnt tell me anything useful (yeah, you can tell Ive got such staying power! )- anyway, I NEVER seemed to wake up at anything like the same time each morning, (even tho my alarm is set for the same time I just kept waking up earlier and earlier) so I guess thats why.....I am thinking I might start again this cycle to see if I am anymore successful.

Hmmmm, Kitty, I do usually try to avoid all the stuff you should avoid when pregnant when Im in the 2ww...although tbh I think its really just liver, raw meat and fish, caffeine, and alcohol. About cheese, i think its really just the 'mould ripened' stuff like brie, blue cheese and camembert that is the problem, stuff like soft cheese (dairylea etc) is apparently not an issue.

Anyway, If I can make myself do it, you guys might be seeing a bit more of me in the next month - have started spotting so think AF is going to show her ugly face properly later today or tomorrow  ....

Oh well, on to the next round......

:rotfl: did I ask her about alcohol..... :D She is a really sensible woman - she said that in her opinion a glass of wine now and then with a nice meal or relaxing in the evening would do far more good than harm.... On the other hand if you were knocking back a bottle a night it wouldnt be a good thing. To be honest I only really have a glass if we are out for dinner or something these days.....

About the cheese Kitty - she was dead cool about soft cheese you would buy over here in supermarkets - it was just the really stinky soft stuff that you may buy on a farm in France - the stuff that they have made with milk in not too clean conditions she was talking about - in fact she said if it didnt drip off the knife it was OK to eat..... :-)

As I said she was only concerned about caffine and that was all really - she feels that if we wrap up pregnant women in cotton wool and stop them dealing with normal everyday life then we are making problems for ourselves with children in the future...... SHE IS MY GOD AT THE MOMENT!! :rotfl:

We had a discussion about progesterone too and to be honest again she feels there is usually a reason a womans body doesnt kick in with the right levels of hormone - she is a realist I think and doesnt believe in bed rest etc - some of it sounded a bit harsh but I think I tend to agree with her - if an embryo is healthy then she feels in 99% of cases that all will be well - if its struggling then there is probably a reason..... (hope I dont offend anyone typing that...)

Your Doc sounds fab ROM and very sensible indeed. I do keep an eye on what I eat in the 2WW but Ill still have a little drink now and then, Im not a big drinker anyway. I dont think Ive ever eaten raw meat/fish, French cheese and I hate pate, so I should be ok. I always think, 'what if I wasnt trying and got pregnant but didnt know it' I wouldnt be eating or drinking any differently. I know plenty of people that have smoked and drank whilst not knowing they were pregnant and it hasnt done any harm. Of course I am not going to be so laxidasical, as I wouldnt want to risk losing my baby over alcohol or cigarettes.

I have cut out coffee from my diet now, I do have tea occassionally, but mainly green tea now instead. It really has detoxed me, my wee is almost as clear as water these days!! Hope this isnt affecting my OPKs!

No ovulation for me yet and Im on CD16 which is quite late for me, but I still have EWCM so Im still fertile :) Hope it happens tomorrow so I can start the 2WW. I MUST remember to set my alarm for 7.30am so that I get a true temp reading.

Its my Nieces 4th birthday party tomorrow so Im going to eat alot of cake! :D

Im very excited about Gypsy's temps!! Looking great!

I don't normally restrict anything until either AF or a test result. I know I should, but 14 months of no alcolhol for 2 weeks a month would've meant the end of my marriage!!!! :rotfl: It's just like ROM said be sensible.

ROM your consultant sounds amazing. I've never understood this if you don't eat it the baby won't be allergic thing. The healthy embryo thing, I'd never thought of it like that. Makes me feel a little better about things

Choklatemunky - it over til its over. FX

Hi all,

I got a belated birthday pressie.........a BFP!!!!!!! :D

Can't believe it. I was surprised to see my temp go back up yesterday and spent all day thinking my AF was going to arrive today because I'd been spotting a lot and it'd turned much darker and redder on the liner. Just like pre-AF spotting.

But something in me told me to test. So used an ebay cheapie in the evening, thought I saw a shadowy line. I'd got some Boots test in as they're on offer at the mo. Got a faint line. So had to go to tesco and buy clearblue and tesco own brand. They were all faint positives!!!

Sorry I didn't post last night but I didn't think it was real. Until this morning when my temp rose again and I did more tests and even the CB digital says I'm preggers.

Attempting to post some pics of my tests (sad I know).

So it looks like my spotting has been an implantation bleed more than anything. I'm keeping a TTC diary as I did with my son and I did make a note on Wednesday that the spotting looked like it was in the first tri with my son. It's easing off slightly now and is lighter in colour. I had it all through the first tri with my son so I expect it will be the same this time.

Hope it's a sticky!

I'm in shock but so happy :)

OMG!!! Bagpuss I am so so happy for you!!! Congratulations lady!!! Yay!! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

ROM, your consultant sounds like my mother! :rotfl: And yes, I guess I drink in pretty much the same way as you - I'll have a glass of wine when out if I feel like it, and I usually open a bottle when AF comes, but otherwise I don't really think about it.

Unfortunately it is the really stinky, oozey, dripping off the knife, speckled with goat hairs and hay, type of cheese that I love. I can't be doing with pasteurised, sanitised, bland stuff  If it comes in plastic, it's not worth eating... and yeah, I like my fish seared, so they're still raw and tasty in the middle, and my beef steak rare, with bloody juice spilling out... mmmmmm! It's funny really, as most people think I'm veggie :rotfl: (I always order veggie when out because I don't know where the meat's come from, and I only buy organic free-range meat - it's just too expensive to have frequently)

I'm also fairly pragmatic and think these things happen for a reason. I'm not going to get upset about a chemical pregnancy because I can't see it as anything other than a ball of cells with a chromosomal abnormality. But know that other people believe that life (spiritual as well as physical) begins with conception, and if that's what you believe, you're obviously going to react differently. Obviously for me, there's personal disappointment that things didn't work out that time, but I don't feel a sense of loss - more the exasperation of running to the platform and arriving just in time to see the train pulling out, with 2-hour wait for the next one. To pursue the analogy even further (assuming I haven't lost you all already  ) - I wouldn't feel guilty about missing the train, or blame the driver for leaving on time, I'd be bloody annoyed and then look for a newsagent and a cafe...

woooh, what a lot of philosophising today!

Choklatemunky - you're not gatecrashing at all! I hope Af stays away, but if not, look forward to your posts in here. Get yourself a FF chart and pm me the link, I'll add it to the front page.

Well, the furniture arrived - but it was the wrong cupboard :x So it's had to go back, and I've lost half a day. Really annoyed now.

Off to salvage what I can from the day!

Thank you ladies!!!

:cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Just goes to show, no matter how irregular your cycles are or how long, you can still get a BFP.

I'd convinced myself that AF was on it's way, was looking forward to a glass of red wine this weekend. I even abstained on my birthday. Who cares though!
