***April & May Mummy & Baby***

Afternoon,

Registered Libby this morning :) made it out of the house by 8am but munchkin wasn't changed never mind.
Had to go for a nice long nap this afternoon though.

Health Visitor visit was pointless really, just went over everything you've been told and asked by MW for the last 9 months.

Just filling in child benefit form then need to get some westfield forms so I can put my claim in :)

Hey Ceecee :-)

I've just had my first HV meeting...I was quite surprised that there were 2 of them actually - found it a bit intimidating!

She was only here for about 30 mins or so - we went through the little red baby book in great detail and then she questioned me on how I fed Joshua - how I prepped his bottles etc - and how we changed his bum, kept him clean etc! She asked about my wellbeing and then weighed Joshua - that was about it! I did feel like I was being questioned an awful lot, but I guess that's their job at the end of the day.

Glad little Grace is doing well and putting on weight :-) xxx

Hiya Chezza, thank you.

Not looking forward to it to be honest. Lol. Hope they're not too bad. Did they give you any leaflets or anything? Someone told me they'd give me a thermometer? To tell me if its too hot or cold or whatever. Hope they're not too bad.

Glad everything went well with you I think HVs are a bit daunting though! Xx

We'll see how I get on and I'll let you all know on Thursday. Glad you are all well (babies included)! Xx

Yes sorry - I was given a few leaflets to read through - but wasn't given a thermometer or anything - I was just told that I probably had him wrapped up too warm - as I had a blanket on him when they came in...but to be quite frank, it's blinking cold outside and my house didn't feel too warm today lol!

Good luck with your HV meeting, let us know how it goes :-) xx

Thank you! I get a bit annoyed because the information i get varies from one person to another.. One midwife tells me not to feed her unless its 3 hours or more from her last feed (even if she's screaming to be fed?) another told me to feed on demand. One told me to keep a hat on her, another said not to because it increases the risk of cot death. Hope I get one health visitor and stick to the same one, the conflicting info is so annoying lol xx

It's really difficult when you have to absorb so much conflicting advice! I had 2 part time MW's throughout my pregnancy and luckily they both used to preach the same info...it was only when I had to stay in hospital that I started to get confused with varying advice.

Re: hats - I was told to never keep one on his head if we are indoors but always have one on outside.

Re: eating - Pretty much feed on demand - Joshua takes between 2 - 3 oz at each feed (anywhere between 3 - 4 hours, sometimes 5 hours apart). But there have been times where he has finished 3 oz and wanted more on top...I have quickly knocked up another 1 oz and let him have it after a good burping session :-) Sometimes that's all it takes to settle him nicely - especially in the evening.

I was also told by lots of mummy friends to let pretty much do whatever he needs in the first few weeks - routine will come eventually!

xxxxx

I'm going with doing whatever little lady wants to do.

She's just taken a bottle for the first time so fx no need to get the boobies out when I go shopping tomorrow :) will need to find time to express in the morning though.

Do whatever feels right for you and LO :)

You're both right, right now ill let her take the lead. If she wants more milk.. I'll give her more milk. I agree with the hospital stay though Chezza. That's where I got all my info that was muddled!!

I actually went for a shower when I was in hospital and came back to a nursery nurse trying to feed her about 20 mins after she had been fed but she was asleep.. Lol. I walked into the room and she said 'good job I didn't end up feeding her' .. But, surely they should have waited for me to tell them!

Xxxx

No I know, I don't put a hat on her in the house but it's just the fact one told me to and another told me not to lol x

Eliza has to have a hat on in doors as she isn't keeping her temp like she should, this is on gp's advice, midwife etc. The advice varies so much, Eliza on new feeding plan of 35ml every two hours morning and night and its working for her had small amount of weight gain so step in right direction :)

Glad eliza is gaining weight, the hat thing was the same with Grace whilst we were in hospital. They ended up putting her on a heated mattress for a few days & it seemed to have worked xx

Glad Eliza is gaining weight! Must be a relief.
Will be taking D to get weighed today so hopefully we'll see a rise. She definitely feels heavier!

I have just had 4hrs sleep! Yessssss! Was just getting to the point where I didn't know how I'd function with another night of 45min catnaps. So relieved! Hopefully we'll have some more naps today so I can catch up a bit.

Never thought I'd be so happy about 4hrs sleep...

Tapatalking!

I barely wake up to feed- all you.need to do is to pick him up, he feeds lying down now too (thats why i worked to hard to make it work). I go.to.bed early cause i am shattered looking after 2. My life is so exciting lol.
Jazz, it must be so hard hun. If Eliza us still.not well, can you go to a&e? Thats the easiest way of seeing a paed

Tapatalking so cant see signatures

We have hospital check ups every 3 days they are watching her weight etc, are there any other single mums with new little ones? x

I've not got a newborn, LO is nearly 8 months but am a single mum :) I know HopesDreams who is a Feb/March mummy is a single mum too. We have a chat thread in the single parents section too.

Hope Layla has a better day today and doesn't feel as wobbly, and little Eliza isn't as sicky xx

Evan had tears this morning. First time - I'm oddly excited about it!

Also received his 2 Grobags this morning, he is such a wriggler and he's over the recommended weight for them. I don't think the chunky monkey will last long in his carrycot though!

Seems to be feeding around 2/3 and 6 which is ok. Trying to head to bed for about half 8, but invariably it's more like half 10/11 by the time he and I are settled. Starting to feel like I'm coping better now, and feel less bad about handing him over to my mum or dad to have half an hour to myself.

DH is struggling though, with being back at work (he hates his job) and then Evan crying and him not being able to soothe him. Think he's struggling with the fact that his life can't go back to normal and he will have to make some sacrifices.
