* * * * * May 2014 Mummies * * * * *

Hey mummies, how we all doing with this heat? I would love to be sat outside catching some rays, but I have a milk monster attached to me!
I ended up co-sleeping last night, Zachary would not settle unless he was lying on my chest, safe to say I didn't sleep well for fear of forgetting that he was on me! Hoping for a better night tonight and him settling in his Moses basket. X

It's been overcast here most of the day and a bit muggy. My hubby can't tolerate the heat and my boys don't care much for it either. I love it though!

I've been co-sleeping with William since he was about a week old. He sleeps next to me and nuzzles into my boobs lol. I lay on my side facing him with my lower arm stretched out above his head and my knees up below his feet. I was nervous at first, but it seems I don't move an inch in my sleep. I love not having to get out of bed unless I need the loo and hubby does the nappy changes lol.

The only trouble is, lately he's been fussing a lot in the early hours and it really disturbs my sleep. Doesn't help that he's still got a cold and the congestion clearly upsets him sometimes.

Poor little man all congested!!! Ellie has been getting to bed late. She will only settle on us for her first sleep meaning we end up sitting up til nearly 11.30 then settle her after a feed but then she gets me up between 3-4 and back up by 6ish so I'm feeling sleepy!!!!

If I'm lucky if can get her to then co sleep once she has her morning feed for about an hour just for me to catch up. Last two mornings she's been super projectile sick after her feed though and it disturbs her to get her all changed and clean.

Oh is getting super tired,he puts her down on her late feed as he doesn't see her all day as he leaves early then is not home til 7.30 but I think he is struggling bad now. :(

But I am still head over hills in love with her :D x

I didn't move wait her, and I fed him differently, tried out the biological feed and the side lying one, for his 3 & 5am feeds!

Lucky ladies getting help from oh during the nights, mine is unconscious as soon as his head hits the pillow! X

My oh sleep walks so can't help through night as he doesn't actually wake. He remembers nothing hence why he always puts her down at 11 as he stays up to do it x

My oh has been staying up with her until 2am, I go to bed at about 10pm and then take over baby duties when oh brings her into the bedroom at 2am. The main problem we have is she only wants to sleep on my chest. I don't dare sleep with her on me.. This morning I was sat up from 4am-7am, she was asleep but the second her head touched the Moses basket mattress she was awake and screaming and then she'd be fast asleep again the second I picked her up! It's lovely but exhausting! Between 7-9 she'd go down for about 15 mins at a time.. By 9:30 oh was awake so took over and she'll go in the Moses basket for him! She's fine during the day and sleeps wherever no problem, it's just at night!

We had to go to the drs again today cos she's got a bit of a gunky eye and mw said best to make an appointment when she saw us on Monday. We went on Monday, got some drops and also had a swab taken for tests, they came back clear but they want to test for more things which is worrying. It's getting better and the dr today said it was highly unlikely anything is wrong but I still don't like it!!

Anyhow, apart from all that we're doing well and I'm more and more mobile every day after Caesarian :) it still hurts a bit to get up from lying down but nothing a bit of codine won't fix xxx

Sounds like she knows how to get mummy attention and likes your cuddles, not good for your sleep lol!!!!

Ellie loves cuddle sleep in the day like right now lol!!! It's so lovely and she pulls great faces whilst asleep but as I say I don't get much done. Been sitting with iPad and pen and paper sorting wedding stuff while she sleeps on me lol!!! Less than 10 weeks til I get hitched and have to loose my pounds and tone back up!!

I managed to do a mini circuit when I got her down for half hour then I done extra on the xtrainer and she was in her carrier on me. Made me work harder and she loves anything bouncy so fell asleep bonus!!! It's not ideal but I'm very safe as I am an ex gym manager and personal trainer :)

X

Hello Ladies, hope you are all well!
Well Issy had her 6 week check today even though she is 7 weeks old lol.
She's a right chunky monkey she weighs 12lbs 1oz! couldn't believe it as she doesnt look chubby but shes quite long which she obviously gets from her daddy as i'm only 5ft2 lol

Thought i'd do those questions that Ashleigh posted!

Do you have a routine, if so what is it?
We don't really have a set routine but she gets up at about 7.30/8 then muster through the day with a few naps and bottles, shes currently being put down at 10 and not waking til 6ish so it's actually quite lovely!

How many oz is your baby fed and how often? (bottle feeding question)
5oz every 3 hours.

What does you baby weigh?
12lbs 1oz

What size clothing are they wearing?
0-3 not sure how long they're gunna last though!

What size nappies are they wearing?
size 2

Do they have a comforter or anything they always like to have?
she doesn't really seem interested in that apart from me if that counts?! lol.

Do they have any dislikes?
Issy hates getting out the bath! She's also not a fan of blankets, every morning shes kicked them off, but she doesn't like the gro bags so have to perservere with it! lol

Have they reached any milestones?
Issy is smiling, shes found her hands as well, she recognises my voice and follows my movemen!.

Are you attending any mummy/baby groups?
Not yet but hoping to start her swimming next week after her jabs!

What is the best thing about being your babies mummy?
God everything. I love it, she makes every day worth it and waking up to her is the most precoius thing! Definately miss being pregnant still though!

Here's some photos :) She's gunna hate me for the leopard one when shes older!

Here's my attempt at Ashleigh's questions, baring in mind Zachary is only 3 weeks on Sunday!

Do you have a routine, if so what is it?
He has a bath just before 9, and then quick baby massage (he hates it) feed in the quiet & dimly lit room. He wakes for a feed between 1-2 and again at 5 when I bring him into bed with me, usually get till 7 asleep then. Day time has no routine!

How many oz is your baby fed and how often? (bottle feeding question)
EBF

What does you baby weigh?
9lbs 15 when he was weighted Wednesday.

What size clothing are they wearing?
Inbetween 1 month and 0-3 clothing. He's long enough but not fat enough for 0-3!

What size nappies are they wearing?
Just finishing the last of my Size 1 as they are getting snug, so size 2.

Do they have a comforter or anything they always like to have?
No.

Do they have any dislikes?
He doesn't like getting out of the bath or being dried off/moisturised or getting dressed!

Have they reached any milestones?
He has great hearing and looks around for noises/voices/ the cat when he has his collar on. Can lift his head up already.

Are you attending any mummy/baby groups?
No, planning on swimming group and visiting local breast feeding clinic at some point.

What is the best thing about being your babies mummy?
Him being part of me, and watching oh doting over him. Mummy snuggles!

I'm going to a breastfeeding clinic tomorrow at a children's centre, has anyone else been to one? X

I have hun (though I suspect you've been now lol). They're very friendly and it's nice to have somewhere away from home you can feel comfortable nursing and know that nobody is going to get offended by you whipping your boob out lol.

I was too nervous to nurse in public until 7 months with my first. This time I nursed publically when he was just 3 days old!

I didn't go! I was concerned about his latch causing me pain so wanted to go to see a hv, however last night and today I've been able to latch him better (bit more patience on my behalf!) so didn't go. However I am planning on going with my friend beginning of next week, be nice to get him weighed!

I fed him at my parents/friends/in laws houses, last week I fed him in a country pub beer garden whilst eating lunch! Getting braver! X

I'll have a go at these questions. :)

Do you have a routine, if so what is it?
We sort of have a routine now, she'll wake between 7am-8am, I'll dress her at this time and give her a bottle, she then pretty much stays awake, then between 10am-11am she'll have another bottle, then fall asleep until about 2ish when she'll have another bottle, she then stays awake and has another bottle between 5pm-6pm, then another about 8pm, then she'll normally go off to sleep and we put her up in her crib. She'll wake between 3am-4am for a nappy change and a bottle, then sleep again until 7ish and start all over again! Every other night is bath night at the moment, we will change this to every night once she starts to enjoy her baths.

How many oz is your baby fed and how often? (bottle feeding question)
I make 5oz bottles and she usually finishes it, occasionally she'll leave one oz or half an oz. She'll need feeding usually every four hours, sometimes she'll only go three hours.

What does you baby weigh?
She was 6lb 11oz when she was born, we last had her weighed on 16/06/14 and she was 9lb 11oz, so she'll be just over 10lb now I should imagine.

What size clothing are they wearing?
She's still in newborn vests, but sleepsuits and any other outfits are 0-3 now, she's long, but not wide.

What size nappies are they wearing?
Size 2.

Do they have a comforter or anything they always like to have?
No, I've tried showing her comforters and toys but she doesn't attempt to keep hold of anything yet.

Do they have any dislikes?
Nothing that I've noticed yet.

Have they reached any milestones?
Still waiting for our first smile! Pretty sure it's not far away now, you can see she's nearly there when you're talking to her.

Are you attending any mummy/baby groups?
Not yet.

What is the best thing about being your babies mummy?
Everything, I love spending my days with her. When she is crying on anyone else, I love that as soon as I have her she stops, she knows who her Mummy is for sure.

Here is a picture of her from yesterday passed out on my parents sofa after a feed.

Hope you don't mind ladies but I've just been reading some of your posts and it's made me feel all warm inside.

Treasure your babies tiny stage. Thomas is 4 1/2 months now and it seems like ages ago when we were going through these things.

Feel free to pop in to the 'how are you new mummies doing' thread. Most of us are abit further on but have been through loads of things if any if you have a burning question.

We had a successful night. At my mum and dads but Ellie went to her own bed at 11 and slept til 6 when she woke to have a poo. She's now had 4 oz and is back in bed but stirring with a bit of gas. This seems to be her regular gas and poop time lol.

She seems to sleep longer at my parents house it's odd :S

Hi all, sorry I haven't been on much of late, this mummy thing is hard work! Poor Iris has her first cold but is slowly improving! Had a couple of really bad nights where she was waking every 20 mins but last night she went down at 10pm, woke at 1:30am for a bottle (oh did it - yay) went straight back down and woke again at 5:15am, stayed up for about an hour then slept for about 30 mins, woke for a cuddle and is now fast asleep on me :) result! We're meant to be popping in to my work today to meet everyone but I'll see how she is - hoping she's over the worst of it - that saline stuff up the nose def helps!! X

Thanks pumpkin :) I really like the new mummies thread, chatted to you lovely ladies when I was feeling pretty low right at the beginning and it really helped :) glad you don't mind us popping by! I'm really trying to treasure this stage as she already seems to be growing up too fast but it can be hard! X
