***April & May Mummy & Baby***

Well it's 1.25 and he hasn't woken me up at this time since he was 4 weeks old...got a horrible feeling we could be doing 2 bottles tonight!! On the plus side, he went down at 9pm, so maybe not too bad for his first night? Our bedroom feels wierd though... I do miss him :-( xxx

I've just been woken up by Scott grunting stupidly loud while he had a monster poo! Times like this I wish he was in his own room lol although if he was poor mite would have been lay in a dirty nappy for a while. Now he's lay there cooing top volume at the animals on his cot mobile! Time I invested in some ear plugs lol.

Nn ladies x hope you get some sleep Chezza x

Does anyone have the tomee tippee microwave steriliser? If so, can anyone advise if we are using it right?

We put it on for 8 mins, sometimes with a couple bottles inside, once we open it we use what we need and any bottles we don't use we will sterilise again before using them- even if it's only an hour or so - so therefore double sterilising. We've always done it this way as it says on the box bottles are sterile whilst it's closed, are we doing it right?

Oh and I were talking about it recently and we were both sure we've been over sterilising lol

Thx in advance

Xxx

What a god awful night...up 5 times with JJ screaming the house down...in tears, so tired and feeling like I've failed...

Oh no hun! You have not failed, babies are totally unpredictable and it's hard to know what they want and they often get frustrated, put it down to his leap maybe?? Don't doubt yourself, ur a great mum. I'm sure he'll have a long nap during the day where you can catch up on some sleep.

T has the odd nights and days where he just won't settle properly and gets upset and then he has days where he just wants to play eat and sleep, just ride it out hun, I'm sure he'll settle down

Hugs!

Ah Chezza it will just take jj a bit of time to get used to it.

Chezza don't be disheartened. H hasn't settled too good in his cot but last night was a good night. He settled back in it after every feed which he hasn't done before. I feel like a different women today because I've had sleep!

We're off to the hospital this morning about H's hips, wish us luck!

Good luck star girl and H x

Off shopping again today need new bag to complete outfit for tomorrow, oh and need eyebrows doing desperately.

Thanks ladies...just feel like utter sh*te this morning...so tired and can never usually sleep in the day.

I don't know why I didn't think of it last night, but I have moved the bedding he was laying in, in his basket, into the cot - hoping that the familiar smells might help him settle a bit more.

Never had to re-settle JJ in his basket...so not sure of the "right way" to do it...do you pick up baby when they are crying to comfort and then re-settle, or try and leave them in the cot and just reassure through a hand on the chest or something?!? Any advice GREATLY appreciated! Thank you xx

Good luck with your hosp apt Stargirl - let us know how it goes xx

I'm feeling poopy today. It's my best friend's hen do this weekend, all my friends are going to this lush house in Somerset with a private indoor pool, sauna, outdoor hot tub etc and I'm not going :( plus I feel bad as I'm bridesmaid and just feel like a terrible friend!
I made the decision myself and I know it was the right decision as no way I could leave D for a whole weekend, but I still feel sad that I'm missing out on fun with the girls, and I know the bride-to-be was disappointed even though she understands.

I have arranged a big thorntons hamper to be delivered there tomorrow as a treat for them, hopefully they'll like it.

@MrsHope:
If you are going to supplement with water, make sure it's cooled boiled water so that all bacteria is killed off. My midwife said you can also give babies a bit of unsweetened fennel tea.

I'm trying colocynth crystals at the moment for Ella to help with her colic. Has anyone else tried these? My friend recommended them.k

Sorry I'm month hopping here but without a word of a lie these crystals saved my sanity!!! They worked a treat on Spencer!

Little tip though if you're struggling with that stupid little spoon, make sure your hands are clean, dip your finger in a bit of water and stick the granules to your finger. Much easier to get them all in the mouth!

Spencer David Wilcockson 28/2/2013 6lbs 3.5ozs

Thanks for the tip! Can I ask how you use them? Do you give a few sprinkles before each feed or do you just give them when your baby's crying & colicy? Also, how long do they take until you sre an effect?
Thanks!

How have you been getting on with the granules?

Spencer David Wilcockson 28/2/2013 6lbs 3.5ozs

Hi Claire! The crystals didn't work for us. She seemed worse with them tbh. I've now switched to something you can buy at the chemosts in Germany that's a sweet medicine I give her on a spoon before breastfeeding her. I can then normally burp her with no issues. Funny how some things work for some people & not for others. I hate all this trial & error. Am currently on a ban of all sorts of foods to see if that's what's causing her problems. It's so hard not eating chocolate or dairy products!

Well good night here again.

Rian had bottle at 10.30 but was wide awake after was chatting away in his mses basket lol got him to sleep about 11.30 then he didnt wake till 6 for his bottle bless him.

I just cant imagine putting him in his cot yet as he still seems to small.

Good luck today stargirl xx

Aww yeah the tiredness doesn't help. But he will soon get used to it, it is just because it is a change. When he is tired enough he will soon sleep there lol.

Does he have a projector thingy? Anna has a winnie the pooh projector thing that plays a night time song thats really calming and projects some night time winnie the pooh things on the cieling and it knocks her straight out. Maybe try one of those? My nephew had his for agggges and just the first sounds he would be asleep...worked up until he was about 4 lol. xxx

Bless you PP - must have been a hard decision to make. It's a very sweet gesture with the Thorntons hamper though - the bride to be will really appreciate you thinking of her, I'm sure.

Is there any chance you could do a spa day with some of the same girls in a few months time to make up for it..? xx

Yes, we have a Freddie Frog slumber buddy - he projects the night sky onto the ceiling and plays lullabies...but JJ is too busy screaming with his eyes shut to hear / see Freddie's delightful show lol!

Just going to stick with it and see how it goes...yawn....! xx

Don't ever think you have failed! Your doing great hun, he's was just displaying his displeasure at the change. He'll soon get use to it, just like he got use to sleeping in his moses basket. Babies eh, they don't half know how to pull on your heart strings, and it always seems worse when your tired.

H hates is moses basket and isn't all that keen on his carrycot. What i do is the top i've worn that day goes in his carrycot so he can smell me, we also downloaded a womb sound track which is played to him. It was the first time using the womb sounds last night and he settled beautifully.

We just have to wait for him to drop his 2am & 5am feeds! Lol

I'm the same, my friends hen do is in aug and I have to miss it.

Also missed one in Barcelona and one in Marbella when I was pregnant.

They'll understand why you're not there although I'm sure that wont stop you feeling bad xxx

The wedding tomorrow I missed the hen do last week at Ascot and missing another one in August, just can't imagine leaving her :(

There were pics last week of all the girls glamed up and there was me in scruffy leggings and a feeding vest!

Hugs xx

Scott now sleeps in his cot, has done for about a week and he just adores his cot mobile! I'm sure it has helped him settle. It's one that turns and has a night light at the side. Does JJ have one? x
