***April & May Mummy & Baby***

hiya chezza,

I'm glad you had such a good time, it sounds like you had a right adventure :D

Sorry to hear little JJ is under the weather, i hope OH manages to find him something. I remember when my eldest was little he constantly got coughs and colds in the first year, he went to nursery and according to the doctor it was competely normal for him to pick all bugs up. He reassured me it would make his immune system strong in the long run, the doctor was right he hardly ever gets a cold now! Any way i'm waffling...

...you use to be able to get a syrup called tixilix (or something along those lines) i fairly sure they had a syrup for babies over 3 months. And also you can get snufflebabe its a lot like vicks vapour rub but gentler.

If he's suffering with a cough i found sticking J in a steamy bathroom helped, it loosens everything and makes it easier to pass. Word of warning, they can't cough up yet so everything comes out the bottom end....makes for some interesting nappies :D lol xxx

Thanks Emma! DH was told by the chemist that they don't recommend any cough mixture for babies under 6 months? Am going to try a different chemist tmrw to see what they say and get some of that snufflebabe too.

Thanks for the warning re: nappies lol...I'll look forward to those!! xxx

Afternoon Ladies & Babies!!

Taken me a while to go through all the recent posts ;-)

Hope everyone is ok...?

Had a lovely break in Dorset...got really lucky with the weather too - don't get me wrong, it did piddle it down a couple of times, but we had a fair bit of sunshine too. We have walked for miles...up cliffs, down cliffs - around farms, harbours, beaches...! We truly ache at the moment. River cottage was awesome as well! I'll post some photos on facebook shortly!

I have a mountain of washing to get through and unfortunately a very snotty / coldy baby to tend too...it seems we brought a little baby cold back with us :-( DH has gone down the chemist to see if we can give him anything to help alleviate the symptoms...poor little sausage.

xxxxx

Glad to hear you had a nice time the pics are lovely, who would have thought you were in the UK?!

When T had a cold we were also advised by hv not to give him anything but it was heartbreaking seeing him suffer! We used baby Olbas drops and put it in a bowl of hot water near his cot over night, it helped him loads, we bought boots own brand cough medicine from 3mo+ and it worked a treat, we gave him about 2 x 5ml a day for 2 days and really saw the difference, those nasal aspirators worked a treat too, he'd had so much snot and it made him so uncomfortable, although it was a fight to use it, they worked.

Sending big cuddles to JJ, hope he feels better soon

Xxxxxxx

Thanks BB!! Dorset is a truly beautiful place...I was born and raised there and will always wonder why my parents thought it was a good idea to move so far inland, lol. Love it down there though :-)

I think I'll pop to Boots tmrw and see if I can grab some cough medicine. Poor little man was really bad tonight and we had to resort to calpol...something I don't really like doing, but it appears to have helped a great deal. I really feel for him - his cough sounds so painful :-( I have an aspirator, so will have that at the ready too.

Hope you and gorgeous little Trey are really well xxx

Hi panda bear I'm victoria Bousfield on fb if you want to add me :)

Chezza the pics on fb are fab! Looks like it was a fab little holiday! Roll on the 20th that's when OH, H and I go away. We're going to Tenby for a week! We can't wait.

Hope jj feels better soon x

The HV suggested that Evan might like a door bouncer so just ordered one with my Tesco points. Should arrive on Wednesday and a little excited about it! xx

Welcome back Chezza not had a look at the piccies yet I'm sure I'll be green with envy :(

She's had porridge tonight about 5 spoonfuls, and managed about an oz of formula before she kicked off. at least she didn't spit it out lol

Chezza: you're holiday looks great. Such blue skies!
Amy: I got Ella a door bouncer cheap from a local ad. It's one that's shaped like a plane! She loves it & it gives me a chance to get some housework done! Have got a photo of it up on fb if you want to look.

I've just had my first class that the government pays for here for getting your pelvic floor back into shape. Was ... interesting! The midwife wanted us all to feel her bum so we would know what muscles she was talking about!

Sounds great!! I'd love to get Joshie a door bouncer, but I don't have door frames on my middle floor...everything is sort of open plan :-( Was going to get a jumparoo...but he wouldn't get enough use out of it because of the weight / height he is already approaching. I know he is a chunky little monkey, but he is so bloody long it's ridiculous!! He fits into 9 - 12 month sleepsuits perfectly already!

Make sure you take lots of photo's of Evan and post them :-) By the way, Kiddicare had another sale on of educational type toys...might help keep him interested and out of mischief...? xx

Thanks Sophie - we were very lucky with the weather - it's been freezing, over cast and very wet over here today though sadly!

Wow...you actually get classes to get your pelvic floor back into shape...?? That's amazing!! I'm speechless...(that doesn't happen very often lol!) xxx

He's a pain in the bum at the moment because he needs me to constantly entertain him. I was completely expecting the HV to tell me he's just a 'normal' baby but after she held him for 15 mins (to give me a break lol) she was getting frustrated with him! I'll have a look at Kiddicare, we went to Mothercare earlier and nothing caught my eye. He's still too busy eating muslin squares to play with actual toys. That and giggling as I pretend to hiccup... nutter! :)

Phew, baby asleep but he is bloody hard work atm, needs to see me or be held and entertained all the time. He is great when.we are out because he smiles and giggles at all the ladies and they all melt. But with me he is a lot for impatient. My connecta is getting lots of use, nosey monkey. He is also trying to sit up ( can only manage couple of seconds unaided) so lying on the floor is a no no at the moment. This is where the fun begins! If he is anything like his brother, i will have another hyper early walker

Hi ladies, hope you're all well

I'm bloody fed up! Looks like I have another baby with the appetite of a mouse! My middle son , Connor, has pretty much existed his entire life on the smallest amount of food and now Scott's doing the same! For the last week he has been drinking about 2-3oz of milk per feed, if I'm lucky and that is basically forced into him. He screams, kicks, fights and squirms and just hardly drinks anything. He's still so dinky, not even weighing a stone yet at nearly 19 weeks. Don't get me wrong, I'm not actually worried, that sounds crazy but I'm not! Scott is overall happy (except for yesterday when he was a grumpy pants all morning!), sleeps great, has lots of naps during the day, is very alert, poo's daily and is progressing really well, the only nark is his appetite! For example, he woke up this morning at 4 am, drank 1oz and hasn't drank anymore and is now fast asleep after 3 hours of playing and giggling!

I just wish he would eat a little bit more lol, I'm not even going to take him to get weighed, the HV's will have a field day with his chart and I can imagine what they'll think of me and my dinky son lol xxx

Aww tambo hugs Hun.

I can't imagine how frustrating it must be, but if he's growing at a steady pace then he must be getting enough for his little body?

Would a trip to the doctors be worth it? Even if it's just to be noted that he has a small appetite and is naturally a small baby? That way the HV have no reason to frown, not that you should care a shit what they think :)

Xxx

Well H slept through the night again :) 8.30- just now, he's waking up as we speak. Clever little boy, just wish he'd do it every night! Lol

Xxxx
