***April & May Mummy & Baby***

Awww what a cutie V&B (the baby not the bloke lol!)

Well we are still on major grumps today but daddy has been in charge (think it's the new Sunday thing!). So far I have done the ironing and got some washing on. DH has taken Evan out for a walk so I am finally dying my hair. I seem to have a Cruella Deville streak of grey going on and I last dyed it for my best mates wedding when I was 36 weeks pregnant.

Got the HV coming tomorrow. Think she wants to check whether me and Evan are ok, even though this is the first time she's seen me since I told her I thought I had PND about 2 months ago. She'll probably tell me I should express and get other people to look after Evan again...

Started taking my antidepressants yesterday, the joys of side effects. Just hope they help with my sleeping and don't just make me more drowsy in the day fx

Good evening ladies and babies!
Hope you have all been ok?
We got back yesterday from a fantastic week in Cornwall, the weather was beautiful we had a lovely time.
Ava was an absolute angel am so proud of her. She loved the beach and swimming pool.

So I'm thinking of starting to wean her, she is 21 weeks now, and showing signs she is ready. I'm not really sure what to do, any advice? Was thinking of starting on baby rice at breakfast see how that goes? Am seeing the hv wed so will see what they say. Not to sure about baby led weaning? With my ds I done it the other way?? Not sure what I should be doing??
Any one help me??

Hi Pandabear, glad you had a great holiday.

No idea about weaning, I don't think Evan is quite ready but when he is I will probably start with baby rice but have a BLW book I need to read before I decide. It'll probably be a combo of both tbh xx

I've started giving Libby a bit of baby porridge at tea time, I'd like to do BLW but couldn't wait so will move to that in a few weeks.

Glad you had a nice holiday :)

Morning ladies :D

Hope you all had a good weekend? And night last night? H decided he wanted to play me up most of the night. He woke moaning at 1, woke for a bottle at 3am, woke again at 6am moaning then up for the day t 8am needless to say I am holding my eyes open with match sticks lol

Luckily I have nothing major planned today just a bit of ironing that's about it :D

Hope you all have a good day xxx

What a cute pose Sophie Jane lol.
Thanks ladies I have been and brought Ella's kitchen baby porridge is that ok? It was only that one and aptimal that you mix with their milk, the others just said to add water?? Next question is do I give it b 4 the bottle or after? I make her 7oz milk, which she normally has 7.45, then I have to do school run at 8.30, I know its guna take some time and don't wana rush her xx

Well the new side effect from my antidepressants is insomnia! Just what you need with a baby. Oh well, hopefully it won't last too long. If I got 4 hours broken sleep through the night I'd be lucky.

***SHOCK ALERT***
My HV came round today and was helpful! Evan was grumping for a good half hour and she thinks he is too brainy and is bored easily. She told me he must be hard work and that he'll probably be like this until he crawls. She thinks he needs to go to baby groups for entertainment. She also suggested weaning soon which might help with the reflux. Might start soon or wait for 2 weeks when I'm back from my trip to Scotland. She's going to see me in 3 weeks to see how I'm getting on.

Thanks Panda!
No idea about weaning. Need to start looking into it, I suppose. Not too much longer to go for us.

Sorry you had a bad night, Emma. We had a surprise early sleep. E was grizzly & not having her nap so I took her out for a walk at 7pm. She fell asleep & was due a feed at 7:30. She didn't wake up until I got her ready for bed at 10. She went straight to sleep until 4 & then 7 ready for the day. Can't complain really!

Hey pandabear

How are you? I think all of the first stage baby porridge and baby rice you use the regular baby milk. I've got the cow and gate porridge for when H is ready and his says to add milk :)

In regards to when to feed everything I have ready says baby must be hungry but not starving. I have read the best way to introduce solids is alongside there normal bottle feed. To allow say 2oz of formula to ensure there not starving but remain hungry enough to then feed porridge or rice then finish off with remainder of formula.

Hope this helps and good luck ;) xx

Sophie Ella is so cute :)

Well the heavens have opened here and it's bouncing it down my washing is wetter than when I pegged it out lol glad we did our walk early.

I've got Heinz baby porridge that is made up with water it has got load of vitamins and stuff added and it saves me expressing to make it.

Libby has hers at about 6.30pm and will get taken to bed for her final feed at 7.30 it's not stopped her wanting her milk, but it's only a taster to get her used to it.

Well I've had a busy weekend. My brother was visiting with his oh and their little boy. He's so full of energy!

My OH finally got around to putting together H's jumperoo on sat but had a nightmare with it. One of the metal bars was shaped wrong and didn't fit correctly so he had to take it back the shop and get a replacement. H loves it!

Afternoon Ladies & Babies!!

Taken me a while to go through all the recent posts ;-)

Hope everyone is ok...?

Had a lovely break in Dorset...got really lucky with the weather too - don't get me wrong, it did piddle it down a couple of times, but we had a fair bit of sunshine too. We have walked for miles...up cliffs, down cliffs - around farms, harbours, beaches...! We truly ache at the moment. River cottage was awesome as well! I'll post some photos on facebook shortly!

I have a mountain of washing to get through and unfortunately a very snotty / coldy baby to tend too...it seems we brought a little baby cold back with us :-( DH has gone down the chemist to see if we can give him anything to help alleviate the symptoms...poor little sausage.

xxxxx

hiya chezza,

I'm glad you had such a good time, it sounds like you had a right adventure :D

Sorry to hear little JJ is under the weather, i hope OH manages to find him something. I remember when my eldest was little he constantly got coughs and colds in the first year, he went to nursery and according to the doctor it was competely normal for him to pick all bugs up. He reassured me it would make his immune system strong in the long run, the doctor was right he hardly ever gets a cold now! Any way i'm waffling...

...you use to be able to get a syrup called tixilix (or something along those lines) i fairly sure they had a syrup for babies over 3 months. And also you can get snufflebabe its a lot like vicks vapour rub but gentler.

If he's suffering with a cough i found sticking J in a steamy bathroom helped, it loosens everything and makes it easier to pass. Word of warning, they can't cough up yet so everything comes out the bottom end....makes for some interesting nappies :D lol xxx

And the heavens opened!! Jeez it's raining bucket fulls! I'm sat on the sofa watching the rain through the patio doors, it's flooding my garden!

We now have thunder and lightening, it's knock the sky signal out and just woke Harrison up :/ I'm not so impressed now lol

Xxx
