***** October 2015 Mummies ******

I gelled my toenails at home a couple of weeks ago; it was a logistical nightmare! It took an hour and a half where it normally takes 30 minutes, and I had to use 2 dining chairs and the windowsill.

I've booked in to have a pedicure with my friend when I hit 36 weeks lol!

Eating soup at 4:32am?! Haha! Actually, I shouldn't be laughing as I was wide awake just after 3am and starving! But because I'm so lazy I stayed in bed until I fell asleep again

I have my midwife appointment today and about a dozen questions to ask! Hope the baby is positioned head down too. I still have a scan scheduled at 36+4 so I guess I will know for sure then.

We also attended the 1st of 2 labour workshops at the hospital an it was very good! I was glad that OH is now fully aware on how important his role is going to be and that he has to remain calm and collected from the beginning (I am still a bit concern about it since out of the two of us I am the calm one and he is the drama queen ). Can't wait for the 2nd class this Thursday.

Ps. Any of you planning to rent a tens machine? The midwife yesterday was really recommending it... It's something like £30 to rent for 6 weeks x

I looked into renting one but buying one outright on eBay worked out better value and if we have another baby I can use it again or lend it to friends in the future :)

Carrie, I'm thinking I might do the same around that time, there's no way I'll be able to reach down there in a few weeks :) And I might also get waxed at about 38 weeks. I know I shouldn't care about these things but if they make you feel a bit better about yourself so why not! I doubt I'll have much time for all this beautifying once he arrives on the scene :)

I think hot water bottles will help me more than a TENS machine
I'll try that cos i find heat best for pains now

I've had to ask for help getting socks on a few times
I basically hold my breath when bending forward now lol
I've stopped wearing shoes that tie cos it's actually too embarrassing asking collegues if they can tie your laces!!
I rarely see my feet these days. Bugger my toenails lol
Nobody will see them in pictures anyway haha
I might do my fingernails but even then this pregnancy my nails have gone really really crap!

Im off work today
Feeling sicky and fuzzy headed. Just all round yucky :(

Hehee I know up at 4am barmy! I recall going nocturnal for a bit last time towards the end of my pregnancy.

I hadn't thought about hiring a tens machine..guess I will wait and see if we opt for natural labour first.

I have neglected my poor feet but lucky for me my o/h gives a nice foot/ankle massage if I ask. As far as beautifying goes I think I'll have a last min trip to the hairdressers next month to get my highlights done so I wont have to think about it for ages after

I'm still getting waxed, there's no way I'm gonna be able to do it myself so thought a little bit of pampering wont hurt!

My feet are so rough and hard, I have been struggling to use a pumice stone for a while but I gave up and bought one of the Scholl electric file thingys, its great! I'm slowly attacking the horrible skin and its getting there, luckily my mum has a friend who deals with feet and I'm going to organise an appointment to get them done.

Its just one of those little things that when you're feeling a bit low and gross, it makes you feel a bit better so I'm gonna treat myself while I still can!

MrsS I do my own gel nails at home, so I will make sure mine are looking OK, although I had a horrible thought the other week of 'oh no, what if I go in to labour between a soak off and reapplication?!'

lol, 1st world issues.......

Waxing is defo not for me! I bought a little electric bikini trimmer and that will have to do!

I struggle to cut my toe nails so will have to find a way to deal with that. I should probably buy that Scholl thing as well... God!

I don't know whether or not I should paint my nails in case of emergency c-section... Is it not that you are not allowed your nails painted so they can read some info from their colour? x

Carrie i dont think it happens that fast youll be good lol

In the time of hopefully waters going, contractions starting or whatever...
I'll be double checking my bags, making sure dishes are done, place is hoovered, dogs been out a quick walk, bins put out and my hairs washed dried and straightened lol
I dont envisage it going fast
Fair enough hubby will do most lf them but still.... Im not rushing off to hospital to wait forever up there
I see the hospital from my house so if things do develop quickly im sure i can keep my legs crossed a bit longer til i reach there lol

lol don't worry I know it wont be that quick, I'm already preparing to spend aaaages playing Pacman and Tetris whilst I wait :)

I'm worried my labour will be quick. I was induced with Piper but it went smoothly and quickly! I'm hoping I go early.
I think you are advised with your 1st baby to go to hospital when your having 3 contractions in 10 minutes, but with number 2 it's 3 contractions in 4 minutes... I wonder if they think it will go quicker?

I'm going to try my hardest not to go over due... I cannot handle all the fuss when your overdue.

This bought back memories lol. It took 3 days from waters going last time and like you I spent aaaages checking everything between contractions and even went to the garden centre on the second day to mooch around as got so bored!!!

I've also gone the bikini trimmer route as I know from experience it's slightly easier to stitch up with less hair in the way! Trust me though as a person who spends at least 3 hrs a week with my head up people's parts fitting coils, you don't care about what state of grooming someone is in!! I think it's a desensitisation thing!

I've not attempted toenails I don't think I could but I've got a voucher for a pedicure that I'm planning to use on my maternity leave. My fingernails are like talons I've never known them to grow so fast and long and strong before!!!

I'm hoping I go quick this time, I was fast with my first, in the end my waters had to be broken just before I pushed as they werent gonna break themselves! I'm pretty much getting in the car on my first contraction this time or I'll probably end up having it at home!!!

I can't keep up with all these August ladies going into labour! Is there 3 to keep our eyes on now haha won't be long until we are there hey. My next milestone will be getting to the last day at work yippiieeee!

Well, not completely unexpected but a little scary consultant scan and review today: I am going to be a September mummy (but please can I stay here!?). Baby is 95th centile for everything and already 5lb 3oz. Eeek.

Consultant did her checks, baby's head is right down, cervix is ripening up already so she thinks I'll go naturally early, possible well before the point she will induce me which will be 38 weeks (so week of 22nd Sept). She asked me if I'd packed my bag , er, NO!

Because my recent UTI was group b strep I've got to have antibiotics in labour again too, but I guess that is not the main news really!! Just hope I make my last work day on 4th Sept now

Wow, sounds like this baby is eager to meet you Fliss. Roughly 6 weeks until baby is here for definite then eeeekkkkk!!!!

Wow Fliss! Does that mean you are actually due sooner and the dates were off? Or same due date but you are showing signs of gearing up to labour sooner. How exciting! Some days I feel I'm about ready to pop too and have a big baby for 32 weeks...eeeeeep fingers crossed you get to your last day at work and not sooner! x

For now same EDD but just looking like large for dates and signs body is gearing up. Only had my frigging implant out at xmas so can't be that far out, last period was 28/12/14!

Stacey, I feel the same - mahoosive! What's your MW saying about size? Mine knew last check up - measured 2-3 weeks ahead then but she didn't press the point as she knew I had a growth scan lined up already.

How exciting

Youll need to get your bags packed soon Fliss
