***** October 2015 Mummies ******

Exciting news Fliss...I wonder if you're going to be our first October mummy! :)

I'm hoping this little one takes to breastfeeding as well as Oliver did. I fed him until he was 13 months old and he weaned by himself (something i'm super proud of). The first few days he was constantly latched and I ended up topping up with formula...don't feel like your milk is not coming in during the first few days if baby latches CONSTANTLY. He used to throw up formula when I gave it to him as he was just latching for comfort too and the formula would make him too full.

If you are planning on BF...i highly recommend Lanisoh/Lanolin - it's approx £10 (can get it cheaper on Amazon) but it is amazing. Even if baby has the perfect latch...your nipples will get super sore. The first 5 seconds of latching used to make my toes curl...but it does go away quickly.

xx

Is everyone buying breast pumps planning on expressing or are you giving breast feeding a go first?

I'll be breastfeeding. I found last time that a pump was handy for several reasons: helping to increase supply when needed, pumping off some of the foremilk to make sure DS got enough of the hindmilk (too much foremilk can cause a dodgy tummy), for having some milk stored in the freezer if I had to be away for a little while. Also, after 37 weeks it can be useful for nipple stimulation to release oxytocin and encourage the onset of labour ;)

Good shout Natalie, think I'll add this to my list (that I've not start yet lol) xx

Ive bought all the stuff for bathing, cotton wool before we can use baby wipes, bepanthen, vaseline, plenty wipes and nappies, lansinoh nipple cream, even bought ready made aptimil milk just in case i cant produce any milk

Need to buy milton tablets for back up sterilising
Aside from stuff for ailments (calpol, gripe water etc) i think I've got enough

Just need me some more maternity pads
I've got 2 packs so far x

I hadn't intended to get a pump, I was thinking Id see how I got on with BF and buy one if I needed it, but then the nesting hormone took over and I ended up buying one :)

I'm also with the dark wee here, it's icky. My husband was shocked when he saw the colour of it in a sample jar!

Great idea with the nipple stimulation/pump idea, I'm definitely going to give that a go petchy. I also have some clary sage oils I'm going to start massaging with at 38 weeks :) it's supposed to help start contractions, I'll give anything a go!

Got my tens machine today, I'm not sure I have it working right, I could barely feel it? Got little shocks from the pads when I touched them with my fingers, but couldn't feel it on my back! I might have a proper go with it tomorrow, I was rushed with it this evening. No doubt my ebay purchase as a dud, won't have been the first time that's happened to me!

I also need to get a car seat, that's our last big purchase! Then it's just the supermarket stuff and a few other small bits.

I'm starting to think I don't have enough pjs... The amount of thought I put into these little things is insane!

A product that was recommended to me is Multi Mam cooling pads for your nipples. If you keep them in the fridge they're supposed to be amazingly soothing and they can be used with lansinoh :)

I thought i had loads still to get but i actually think im pretty well prepared
I just need to pack it all now

Biggest worry for me is getting building work done and an all new kitchen in next month
Both from a money point of view and the sheer amount of cleaning thatll follow
Although it might tie in nicely with nesting lol

Weve paid for our travel system and car seat
Itll be delivered mid september
I even bought little mirrors as its a rear facing car seat so i can watch him
Its probably a bad idea cos I'll be so busy staring at him that I'll bloody crash !!

I think I got up to pee 6x last night
Theyre reasonable sized pees aswell
I feel like im tossing and turning lots and my legs feel restless as well

Might aswell get used to not having good sleeps for a while x

Wow it looks like Fliss will have our first October baby- exciting.

I don't feel that organised I got the essentials though but just need to sort out the big stuff. I got a lovely cot bedding set reduced from 70 quid to 14 quid with postage - ebay.

I'm making the most of sleep at the moment, only usually wake up once for the toilet, my bump isn't too big yet so can still get comfy x

As anyone got one of those next to me cribs- cant make up my mind between that or Moses basket x

What a bargain cas! I love a good bargain.

Amazingly I'm not getting up in the middle of the night to go to the loo. I've always had a camel-like bladder and it's holding up thus far!

We're renting a BedNest, much to some people's disapproval no doubt... we felt the terrible accident that happened with it was a freak accident and it hadn't been used properly by the parents. We're in an apartment so we really liked the idea that it would be returned after use - we have very little storage space!

I can't say my pee is dark, maybe I drink way to much.

I won't be buying a pump just yet, will try hand expressing. If I think I need it I can just nip out and get one.

We stocked up on nappies, cotton buds and wipes too. I too need to get more maternity pads.

I decided to start washing the clothes and pack the bag at the start of September.

Midwife advised to start drinking raspberry leaf tea from week 37. This, rocking on birthing ball and long walks will be the only attempt I am going to make at kick starting the labour.

Can you not get rlt capsules?
I wouldnt be able to drink rlt
But im sure someone mentioned putting capsules INSIDE you to dissolve?
Might not have been raspberry ones but definitely a capsule of some description was mentioned x

Im only washing stuff now cos i had nowhere to put them
They were forming mountains of bags in my livingroom
The furniture came yesterday for the nursery so made sense to have them ready to put by x

Yeah I was going to give the raspberry leaf tea a go as well, as you say MrsS it is rotten though! If it means getting the baba moving a bit earlier I'll give it a whirl though.

All in all I intend to: bounce on a ball, lots of walking, massaging and bathing with clary sage, nipple stimulation, curries, lots of dtd - this baba better not go over!

Mrs, it totally makes sense to wash clothe early, especially if you have just bought nursery furniture. I am just being lazy and keep putting it off ;)

I hope I can manage to drink the tea as it absorbs better than capsules. And I am not putting any capsules inside me, no way lol  xx

Littletwix, yes, nipple stimulation is also on my list and maybe DTD if I can manage and OH is up for it :) xx

ha! yeah, if we're up to it too! it's getting increasingly more and more difficult lol

How are everyone's bumps growing? Mine is mashooosive. Everyone keeps telling me how big it is and I just want them to feck off at this stage. I get it ok, I'm huge!

Our baby is going to come out shaped like a croissant...I eat one every day, ooops, maybe that's why my bump is so big :D

Ah I wish I could sleep properly again; I get up about 4 or 5 times every night, and in my sleepy state I use the side of my face to lift myself out of the bed. Don't ask me how that works but it seems to!!

We bought a moses basket and stand cheap, so are going to have that in our living room, then I've bought a crib for our room, not a co sleeper but I'm going to have it up against my side of the bed anyway, there's something about the co-sleepers that I don't feel too comfortable with, but that's just me...

I really have no idea if im huge or not
Its not little. You can see im definitely pregnant as its all at the front
But I've nothing to compare to
I get measured next week so will see then lol

I'm not huge but feel like I'm all baby - at 28 wks I was measuring 30 so have no idea if the growth as slowed down- I'm not seeing mw till 34 wks.

The baby nest looks lovely littletwix, I don't want crib and Moses basket just think it be a waste money, as I probably have a carrycot with pram.

I'm going try bf this time, but not buying a pump till after baby is here but I have brought aptmil starter pack milk for hospital bag, incase baby needs toping up with formula. I keep hearing about people I know having babies early!
