***** October 2015 Mummies ******

Fliss!!! How exciting!!!! You are getting to meet your baby sooner  Of course you should stay with us, we would not have it any other way :)

Midwife appointment yesterday went well, bump is measuring ok and the baby is head down towards my heap. She checked the heartbeat and couldn't believe how many kicks and punches she got... oooppsss!

OH is taking a week of at the start of my maternity leave so that we can deep clean the house and organize everything!

Is it weird that I really am not eager to pack my hospital bag and wash baby clothes? I really don't feel like doing it anytime soon

Hows baby preps coming along?

I'm pretty much all done now! Ordered the last "big" item off my list yesterday - a Medela double breast pump. All that is left to buy now is a few fitted jersey sheets for the cot, bedside crib and pram. We have even bought a few packs of newborn nappies and wipes that are all ready and waiting! I want some nice clothes for ME for the first weeks, comfy but not as shabby as my old jogging bottoms ;) And most of what is going in my hospital bag is now laid out on the spare bed.

Have finally also gotten round to finishing the last step of my training to be a certified breastfeeding consultant, I started it years ago and then forgot all about it as life got in the way. I only have the actual final assignment left to hand in. Got my book out last night to freshen my knowledge, and hope to have handed the assignment in before baby is here :)

Thatll be good petchy

Hopefully I'll have everything washed and put by this weekend

Still feel totally unprepared though x

oohh Petchy I'm going to get the Medela double pump too; my cousin swears by it! I know it isn't cheap but she says hers lasted so long that it is worth it.

That's the last big thing I need too, that and my cot mattress but not really desperate for that as it wont be needed until Christmas or new year anyway.

Now my WTE app on my phone is reading as 9weeks and 6 days left it's all starting to get a bit real...... ARGH IM SO EXCITED!

Mine says 69 days left
Which is the same as you carrie
Single digit weeks!!

Fliss - my last appointment at midwife's was at 28 weeks and my baby measured 28 - which they said was really normal so she has literally just shot up in the past month and boy don't I know about it...the consultant said if she carries on at this rate I may very well be better opting for a c section but if she settles down then I can have a natural birth. Having another scan at 36 weeks to decide. It really wouldn't surprise me if I was joining you in having a September baby too.

My last big thing to buy now is a car seat! I have a tandem (new-born/toddler) pushchair, cot, mattress, mattress protector, cot bumpers, moses basket, bed linen, tomme tippie electric breast pump, bottles, steriliser, baby bouncer chair, sling, blankets, etc

I need to get all the supermarkety bits soon (formula, soothers, nappies, sudocrem, pads, etc) and I'm trying to get a changing table - haven't thought about packing our bags yet but I have prepped my mum to stock up on everything she needs to have my toddler at the drop of a hat so I don't need to pack 3 bags!

We have luckily not needed to buy much. We still need to get a baby sling and a buggy board with seat. All getting exciting now!!! Can't believe some of us may have our babies NEXT month!!! Bonkers!!!

anyone sorted themselves a bump buddy yet? Noticed November mums had theirs.

At 22 weeks my baby was measuring big, hubby side al 10lb+ babies and im only 4ft 10.5". 1st MW said they would keep a close eye to make sure baby wasnt huge, shes left - other MW was more concerned giving me Anti D etc at 28 weeks, seen a stand in last week and she said it doesnt matter what size the baby is, it has to come out .

Looks like no growth scans for me and a big baby ... hoping growths slowed down a little. xx

Shelly - you too :/ it seems we have all been advised different things! I wonder if my previous section has anything to do with their decision ?? I have a new consultant who seems a little nicer - my original one was kind of pushy with her opinions and I was polite, etc but secretly didn't like her approach (although she was useful when discussing risks). This new one is very much - we will make a decision together- and I prefer that.

If you are concerned about your baby's large measurements why don't you give them a call and say you know that others are having additional growth scans to help make a decision, etc. x

I see the MW again in 2 weeks, i'll mention it to her when im there and see what she says. I need to change my doctor due to the being out of the catchment area but i really need to go it quickly to ensure that im changed MW & HV teams.

Is anyone else pee a funny colour .... mines has been a dark orange for the past few weeks UTI coming back clear and MW not concerned but i always feel wet....

Think we're all getting 'to that point' :):)
xx

Mines is dark even though i think im drinking plenty x

Fliss that's amazing news! How exciting that you'll get to meet your little one sooner than expected!

Sure you've loads of time to sort your hospital bag, it's amazing how much you can get done when you put your mind to it :)

I got a Medela manual pump and I'm going to borrow the electric swing one. Hopefully that'll do me :)

My urine is darker than normal too but nothings showing up when they test it.

Is everyone buying breast pumps planning on expressing or are you giving breast feeding a go first? I'm going straight for expressing, I tried to b/feed last time but couldn't quickly enough and we were getting frustrated. My little baby was hungry and it wasn't working so we opted for formula and I expressed too, so it was expressed milk topped up with formula when it came through properly.

My cousin had a very good point, she suggested I determine how well baby latches etc, then buy a pump once I'm home and am comfortable with breastfeeding. You can get next day delivery with Amazon so seems like a good idea.

I'm so glad you ladies have darker pee too!!!

Fliss sorry I never even mentioned you getting taken in early!! Are you excited? If it helps I'm so unorganised

I was going straight for breastfeeding, never even thought of needing a breast pump! Xx

Bloody hell Fliss can't believe you are going to meet your baby early that must be so exciting!!! 5lbs already wow sounds like babba really wants out of there!!!

That is a very good point! Best start packing a bag for Oliver...

I have now officially confirmed with work that I will be finishing on September 11th! Was originally 2nd October but with GD...they wont let me go over and to be honest, I'm starting to feel pretty exhausted.

Had confirmation of a nice pay rise today too...just in time for maternity to start
