May 2018 Mummies Trimester 3!

Do you have to go back to work at some point? Or are you planning on becoming a full time mommy?

I'm going to be a new mom as well but I want to eventually get the baby on a sleep schedule because I only have 4 months of maternity leave then it's back to work I go in September. My partner also works Monday - Friday and won't be getting any time off. I just been reading that if you tend to the baby every two seconds they will have a hard time sleeping through the night. I love my little bub already but when I go back to work I need to be able to sleep to function or I will go nuts

Gosh, hope you get a good sleeper! I heard that you cant really sleep train til 6-8 months as thats about the point where they dont need a night feed, but on a facebook sleep group i'm on , there are people complaining and trying to get 6 week olds to sleep through the night!!! mostly american. So maybe if maternity leave is generally so short over there thats why there are so many desparate to get newborns sleeping through....

I find it crazy too. It's much much safer for babies to wake during the night. I'm sure I read somewhere babies that don't wake are more at risk for SIDS

Yes I hope he's a good sleeper as well. Yep, makes sense if they're in America trying to get newborns to sleep train at 6 weeks lol I told you guys maternity leave is different here. It's not good at all. A lot of moms go back to work shortly after like 6 weeks even. The doctor's only recommend 6 weeks of recovery after a normal labor and delivery and I believe its 8 weeks for C-section. My 4 months is beyond the normal time span. I have some moms asking how am I even managing that and it's all paid. So I'm very happy and blessed to get that. But if my income as a nurse wasn't higher than my partner's as a health aid then I would just stay home but financially it doesn't make sense to do that. Maybe with baby #2 in the future I will get to stay home for the first year.

Yes it probably is much safer for them to wake up through the night at points if they need to feed or need changing. But I don't think them waking up once or twice is the issue. It's them being able to sleep for at least the majority of it and not be up the whole time wide awake so the parents that work full-time can semi function at work. I just pray hes a semi decent sleeper but I'm always preparing mentally that he will be up all night. I've functioned on 1-2 hours of sleep going into a 8 hour shift plenty of times for the night shift so I should be able to do it again for bub.

yes if they wake 2 or 3 times just to feed then go back to sleep you can get used to it. Its when they are awake for hours that its a killer. Mine have both been frequent wakers but fortunately not awake for long times.

when i wake up in the night i start thinking about labour and birth etc and cant get back to sleep arghhhh!!

Good morning!

Here are some of the pictures from the 3d/4d private scan. He wasn't cooperating at first (sleeping) until the sonographer suggested playing music. I played music directly from my cell phone and placed it on my belly, by the 3rd song he was up lol He decided to show us his face finally  Still partially covered by his hand and my placenta. But I will take it.

I took my maternity photos this past weekend as well. The photographer is working on editing them right now. She sent me a sneak peek photo. I will add that below as well.

Post up your scan pics if you get some good ones! I really would like a 3d one and to check gender again, because at my hospital they wont tell you the sex, so i have only had it checked once and normally i would have had it confirmed a couple more times! But its just not in the budget so i will have to presume they got it right and just wait....sigh...!!

I have pics to share :)
At first he didn't want to cooperate (fast asleep) but after the sonographer suggested playing music right on my belly, by the 3rd song he was up and moving. I feel bad for waking him but this is the second time going back for this same scan so I wanted this trip to be successful this time. I will post the photos below.

That's Daeson :) he was still partially covering his face but this is the best we've been able to see him so far.

In the same weekend (yesterday) partner and I went to go take my maternity photos. So I will post below some snippets. One of the maternity gowns I wore (I had 2 gowns total and 2 other lacy dresses for fun)

Here's the sneak peek she provided a few hours after we got home.

Oh no :eh: What exactly about those things that have you thinking about it in the middle of the night?

When I can't sleep which is rare, I will stay up and watch YouTube videos on pregnancy. Just because I'm just interested in finding out more info. But then that doesn't last long and I will fall back asleep shortly after.

i think probably because i've been through it before i can imagine how it wil/might be easily, with my first I was just in denial and didnt think about it at all, as i had no frame of reference for it in my mind! Also because of my other two and the logistics of what will happen to them while i'm in labour is the main issue as i dont have any family near me. My mum might possibly fly up for that time but with a window of about 3 weeks and us with no room for her to stay in our house it's a bit tricky!

Makes complete sense. You've already been through it so you have a better picture in your head. I'm over here in denial lol Like I cannot wait to meet him.

Do you have any close friends that can watch your kids? That's what my friends that don't have much family do here. Just to set a plan for when the baby decides it's time to show up. If I had children already, I would set up for my best friend (either of the two) to watch my child when I go into labor. My mom lives in FL I live in MA so were about 3.5 hours away by flight. My father isn't someone you can always count on so he wouldn't work either. What about your husbands? family

my husbands family are also a plane journey away plus the relationship there is rather strained! I dont have any friends really that are in a position to come over in the middle of the night etc as most of them have children of their own , and two older couples that might have been an option are expecting grandchildren literally the same time!!! so a bit stuck!!!

This is exactly why I'm having a homebirth! No need to find childcare for the kids (almost 4 and 5 and a half). Hopefully my labour will be during the night like my other two. If not hubby will be able to sort them if they need anything and they tend to be pretty good at playing with eachother and not needing much, especially with their Nintendo DS's lol

I have booked for a homebirth to keep my options open but the problem with childcare still applies. My baby is a very wild 15 months and needs constant supervision and always wants to climb on me which is not ideal when in labour!. My daughter is a very anxious 9 year old and has explicitly stated she does not want to be around any childbirth and she is particularly disturbed by any deviation to my mental or physical state so there is no way she would cope with me being in pain .

I got my 3d/4d scan done over this past weekend. I added them to my post earlier but it says It will be posted once it's approved by the moderator.

I also took my maternity photos and cannot wait to get the finished copies in a week or so. I'm excited because this all means I'm getting very close to my baby shower. :) I brought my dress to be tailored on Saturday. It's a bit tight around the waist so the seamstress asked me not to gain anymore weight until after the baby shower. :/ It's tight around the waist but still comfortable to wear. The bump can grow as the dress is very flowy.

How do you upload photos onto here? I tried to copy it into this message box but it doesn't appear once posted. There is no url as these are photos from my phone that I've sent to my email and saved on my computer.

If you click on ‘post reply’ then click on the paper clip symbol a new page will come up and you can then select the files you want to attach from your phone or computer, then close that window and post the message with the attachments. Hope that makes sense x

Okay this is my last time trying to upload these pictures..

So I added the pictures from the 3d/4d scan, baby finally semi cooperated. He was fully asleep when we got to the private scan place. Even after drinking orange juice before the appointment. So we had to wake him up. The sonographer suggested playing music and by placing the phone on my belly on the 3rd song he woke up.:dance: he is still covering his face with his hand but this is better than anything we have gotten thus far.

The last two photos are from my maternity shoot. The first one I’m showing you guys is the red maternity gown I wore & the second picture is one of the shots she took with it on. I had 2 gowns and 2 lacy fun dresses. It went well. She will have the pictures done by the end of next week. The last photo is a sneak peek of one that she finished working on last night.

Overall a good weekend! Can’t wait for this weekend as It’s the start of February break. One week off of work because I work at a school with kids. I’m a school nurse. Also my partners birthday is next Wednesday but we will celebrate this weekend approaching so I have all sorts of fun things lined up for him.
