*** march 2015 mummys to be ***

ILove im not sure about OC, would be worth looking at the actual evidence though- what the risks are to you and baby if you decline induction, what risks of being induced 'early' weighing it up and then coupled with extra monitoring you may require if you decide not to be induced early. (Ie more blood tests to keep an eye on your levels for OC). I think it's always worth looking at the evidence before discussing with obstetricians as they tend to be very medicalised and against natural labour.

I think you also could read into bishops score and asking them what you score before you agree to it. It's something like anything over 8 is more likely to result in a successful 'natural' labour process minus the induction drugs!

Oh dear podpie, 3 guests is not what you want coming home! I'm lucky my in laws are only half an hour away so they won't come to stay. My mum will be here but I think that is slightly different, she lives in Ireland so has to fly. Also I want her here and checked a few times if hubby didn't mind.

Demaris, I can't believe you cook twice! If anything like that happens with us I just cook enough for everyone and hubby reheats when he gets home!

Thanks ladies. It's something I have been thinking about a lot. I think if I go.over and do have to be scheduled for an induction and it'll be when they're here then I will tell OH that I'm not prepared.to have them.stay so soon after baby is born and would prefer alone time first. Hopefully we'd only have to delay their visit a couple of days (they have a week planned anyway!), but I think I have to put my feelings first in this case.
Will.discuss it with OH tonight! I'm sure he'll understand.

In the mean time I'll just keep fingers crossed that baby is on his way. :)

Thanks Demaris for the reassurance about him engaging, it's always difficult to.know what 'should' be happening at what stage seen as there's so much conflicting info on the Internet. Good news on the plug! I'm still waiting for mine lol, knicker watch is back in operation!

I have a nice lazy day planned today. Going to take the dog to the park with a friend for a stroll but I've told her I'll text when I'm ready to go so I can get ready etc at my own pace. I think I'll wait for the rain to stop first.too lol!

Podpie I know exactly how you are feeling. My furst was dye on Aug 10th. There is an annual family event on the 17th. Hubby was definitely going to go regardless of age of baby. He was bringing his mum back do she could stay for a week - regardless if I'd had the baby or was in labour etc.
We had HUGE arguments over it. It boiled down to - none of hus family lived close - he relocated to live with me. He wanted support from his mum - just as I did from mine. It was a difficult situation as I understand that but just didn't want her here - she couldn't afford a hotel.

Luckily baby came on time. We went to the event (she was 8 days old) it was AWFUL (2H drive. I couldn't feed and spent half of it in tears) and his mum came back.
At the time I couldn't care less I was so low with the steroids and blues. She basically looked after baby for a week - at the time I was greatful but looking back I had severe PND and this only made it 10 x worse. I had no idea how to care for my baby weeks in as I let everyone else take over. I'm not saying at all this will happen but be selfish. Even if they are there yoi hog that baby. All I did was feed and change nappies. I didn't ever get to just sit and hold her.
No wonder we didn't bond.

This time all the family are coming down 5 says after due date - but are staying in a cottage half hours drive away. I think they get it thus time.

I'm planning a home birth and have made it clear none of them are coming in!!

Good luck with the discussion xx

Hi ladies, quick update just to let you know we are home- haven't had a chance to catch up on thread but I will do when I sit down with my cuppa in abit. In the meantime here's a pic of my mini-moo... She's stolen daddy's heart... & his wallet! Anyone worrying about labour, I just want to say- it's really not as bad as you think it's going to be ( && that's from someone who delivered with no pain relief & a 2bd degree tear!!) & it is true what they say, the minute you see them, hear them, touch them- it's a long distant memory! Xxxxxxxxx

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!! She is absolutely precious and perfect, no wonder she's stolen daddy's heart! You must be living in a state of bliss at the moment (tired bliss but bliss all the same). You've made me so jealous, I cannot wait to meet my little one for the first time. She's beautiful!

GF awww she is gorgeous!! And I bet she smells amazing :)

Tiggy the evidence is not very conclusive, that's the problem. Thanks, I'll look into bishops score x

Podpie I'm sort of in two minds with regards to this. I personally would not want my MIL to come and stay over! It's just an additional stress. I would feel that I need to tidy up, feed her, look presentable, etc. BUT! My parents will be babysitting my oldest while I'm at the hospital, and will probably stay for a day or two afterwards. And that I don't mind :) I'm sure my mum will help with cooking and it will generally be nice I think. But then I also think that it's probably the reverse for my OH. Luckily, he doesn't complain or mind. This just makes me think that if he wanted his mum to come over, that wouldn't be much more unreasonable than having my mum around for me. Hope this makes sense - sorry can't state my thoughts very clearly with a toddler demanding to play trains at the same time :)

In any case, you should only do what feels right for you (and for your oh). Just be open about it x

Thanks I.Love. I understand where you're coming from totally. My mum will probably spend a lot of time with us which I'm looking forward to so I understand that it's probably the same for my OH. His family are all up in Liverpool so we don't see them often and there's no option for them to come and visit without staying. I have no issue with them staying and I've already set ground rules to ease the stress a bit, my only issue was in case they'd be there when we brought baby home.
I've spoken to my OH now and told him that if baby doesn't come by due date or a couple of days afterwards then I'll be asking him to ask his parents to delay their visit to give us the time alone that we need. He was totally understanding and said that whatever I want to happen is what will happen so I feel so much more relaxed and less anxious now.
I still want baby to come on time though lol!!! I can't wait to meet him!

Thanks girls! Not tired bliss atall... 6.5 hours sleep last night ☺️ She's too perfect! Lol! Jay slept on the sofa with the dogs as they wouldn't settle (wanted to be around her) so the pair of them are currently snoozing while I'm in the bath!

Podpie, you need to do what you think is right for you and baby. Don't worry about anyone else, let them get huffy and whatever else about it- it's your body your baby. Your going to be tired, emotional, and you need to see how you feel. I said I didn't want any visitors at the hospital- the only people that visited where my parents & jays parents. Jays SIL wanted to come up and got a little upset when he said no- but she popped in last night for 10 minutes instead & said she's actually glad we asked her to wait until we where home. It's the excitement more than anything- but you need that time quiet time with your baby too. Don't let people bombard you when your home either. We are doing one set of visitors a day, my sister is coming this afternoon, then I've got midwife, jays sister after school tomorrow and then our friends in the evening. Don't let them stay ages either- make excuses xxx

Oh GF she is absolutely beautiful and adorable! What a little cutie.

You must be so so proud and in love. Enjoy your gorgeous bundle and get lots of rest (although sounds like you had a good sleep last night!)

wow I cannot wait to meet my princess. 1 week Monday roll on!

Xx

Oh GF she is beautiful! I don't know why I've come over all emotional seeing these baby pix. I can't wait!!!! Xx

Podpie well that's great - your OH seems very understanding and supportive x

Just back from my 38+4 midwife. All ok apart from baby not wanting to turn lol. 3/5 engaged, bum is on the right on my front and arms and legs to the left but right up to under my bust! I'm getting period pains morning and evening now and my plug is certainly going :/.
I asked her what happens if no sign after due date. She said if no sign of baby they will book me for a sweep at the hospital at 41 weeks, then still if nothing they will wait till 2 weeks over due before offering an induction. She said they would much rather hold out and it happen naturally so that makes me feel a lot better :), even though I would love him to make an appearance soon! Xx

The first couple from our antenatal class group has just emailed us all to say her waters broke this morning! So exciting! Hope it's me next hehe.
