*** march 2015 mummys to be ***

Morning all!

I managed a whole 9 hours of sleep last night. Unheard of. And only one trip to the loo! I definitely have a spring in my step today.

I hope you feel better soon Nona, nothing worse than feeling under the weather especially at this stage. Fingers crossed your doc is understanding!

I was given flowers and a bag full of pressies when I finished work, but I wasn't expecting it. I nearly cried! One of our technicians also made a special trip into work at 10pm on my last day to give me a card and a box of chocolates, very sweet of him.
It's a shame some of your work places don't seem as nice! It's always good to feel appreciated and as if you'll be missed when you're gone.

My Braxton hicks faded into nothing after a while. I know it's silly but a tiny part of me was hoping baby was on his way! It would make him a very punctual baby, 37 weeks on the dot lol! No such luck!

Have a lovely day ladies!

I basically just said to doctor, I saw you last week and I still feel crap. I've only got a week left at work, will you sign me off again please?! And he signed the form and sent me on my way.
I got moved to a different location when I found out I was pregnant, so I think I will get a gift from my normal team when baby is born, but didn't expect anything from the people I was working with at my temporary location.
Hope you all have lovely Valentine's weekends. xx

Hey ladies!

I hope your all doing well.
I have no idea what to get my husband for valentines day. Usually I'm very creative and original (even if I do say so myself!) but I have total baby brain! Any ideas?

Secondly I felt a bit teary/upset last night (probably hormones!) but I had lunch arranged today with my husbands best friends wife. They live about half hour away and she's due next week. She can be a bit unreliable and low and behold she let me down last minute.

I got upset because I thought maybe she just couldn't be bothered and was not that bothered about meeting me. Which got me thinking am I a really boring person etc. I'm finding it harder as my pregnancy is coming towards it's due date. I live 2.5 hours from "home" although I now consider where I live now to be my home as I've been here 4 years.

I have no friends here. I did have a couple but they've moved far away now.I literally have not one person I can call and ask for a coffee and chat. The only person nearby is MIL and without going on a rant she is a big no no. Basically I've known her 4 years and we've never had a 2 way conversation because she has the social skills of a snail (I guess a snail would actually listen) she's very hyper and only talks about herself so I avoid her at all costs.

My husbands family don't live nearby(apart from his mum). He has lots of friends mainly city based so he meets them after work etc which is great. I guess I just feel a bit lonely. I don't talk to anyone all day and it would be nice to meet people for coffee or lunch just to talk. It'd be nice if my sister lived closer and my best friend but they're all back where I came
from. My mother lives there too, we used to be thick as thieves but I fell out with her after she hurt me and did something at our wedding that I find very hard to forgive so I'm not bothered about her being close.

Sorry for the dreary post! Feeling a bit sorry for myself today.
Xx

Nonabean oh excellent! Congratulations on starting your maternity leave! :) :) :)

Rachy oh I'm sorry that you feel this way :( hopefully it will get easier to make new friends when te baby is born? You can meet lots of local mums in playgrounds etc! Have you tried antenatal classes and groups too? I made a great friend this way x

Has anyone heard from GF recently?...

Thanks I.love I did think that I can make mummy friends once babe is here. I do have a meet up with NCT class girls next week so will see how that goes!

Not heard from GF. Hope she's ok!
Xx

Rachy I know exactly how you feel and I can totally sympathise. My friends live all over but none particularly close so there's no way of just popping round for a coffee and a chat. My work colleagues are obviously still working as well and they're all a bit younger than me so I just feel that we're in different stages of our lives. I'm having a baby and they're still going out drinking, so I feel a bit left out!
Maybe we ought to just team up and be friends haha!

I'm hoping I'll make some new friends at baby groups and things, otherwise the loneliness might set in. I'm in a Facebook group with the girls from our antenatal class so hoping I'll stay in contact with them too.

I'm still hanging on in here- totally fed up! Xxx

Nonabean enjoy your Mat leave :).

Aww Rachy i can sympathise. Although my friends don't live a million miles away, practically none of them drive so we really don't see each other as much as we should. I live more out in the sticks so they say and although i'm only 24, i'm the one that's buying a house and having a baby etc, whereas all my friends are going to work & having nights out drinking. The ladies at work are older than me but there are a couple who i am quite close to. None live local to me though, and you can't exactly get public transport to where i live. My mum doesn't drive so i doubt she will be just popping over to say hi. My OH parents live an hour away, and as mean as it sounds they are slightly older so if they come down here they expect to sleep the night. Now with the nursery furniture up we have absolutely no space so i am hoping things won't get fiery when i say to my OH no sleepovers until we eventually move house! Plus they are hardly full of conversation.....
Like you all have said i am hoping i meet some people when i go to classes. I have absolutely no one around where i live, the most i know are my next door neighbours, and their neighbours lol xx

Ahh Rachy I remember feeling exactly like you when I was pregnant with my first born. My ex husband was in the navy so we moved alot and each place I made friends but then only for as long as we were there. You will definitely make friends once baby is here. I have one close friend who I met 15 years ago with my first from a mother and baby group. Many friends before children (there was a wide circle of us) broke off and moved on because of changes-marriage, kids, university etc etc I have about 2 'best' friends now, but also I am 41 and friends seem to drift off as you get older but the real ones remain.

Things will change once baby is here, from mother and baby groups to playschool and then primary school you will meet special people along the way :) xx

I have the worst cough, feels like my sides are being ripped apart, the pain is so awful and sore I could cry, no sleep last night at all :( the thought of labour as well now when I am so sore :(

Had a lovely lie in this morning! This mat leave ain't so bad!

Rachy I feel for you and can empathise totally. When I first moved to Manchester it was great I made loads of friends at uni but when we finished I stayed here and everyone else has gone away somewhere else. My family are in Ireland but do I have one friend left who I will actually see more now as our work shifts were completely opposite but I really am hoping to make friends with other new mums. Ive got a couple of friends at work but honestly I probably wouldn't be that friendly with them if I didn't see them every day!

Relaxing now for a wee while then will force myself to nest and get house sorted!

Is anyone around Manchester? We could meet up. X

Oh Chrissie I hope this eases in time for sunday. Hugs to you xx

Ahh GF you poor thing :( Are you still getting contractions? xx

Yep! They came down to every 2 minutes, then they went back to 5, 11, 18, back down to 6 back up again! I'm seeing the midwife Monday, she's going to check me out & hopefully if things are favourable she's going to give me a sweep. My whole body just aches now & my bump is agony xx

Oh hell bless you :-/ Are you managing to sleep? This happened when I was induced with my son, 3 days and up and down-I saw so many ladies come in (I was on early labour ward) and then leave with their babies i was getting right fed up! I feel for you...maybe time to DTD or eat a curry?! ;-)

Aw Podpie we should :-)Thank you ladies for your lovely replies. It's good to hear that some of you understand what I mean and I'm not totally doolally! I'm hoping once I'm a mummy it'll be easier to meet other mummies too.

GF you must feel in limbo!! Lots of relaxing this weekend then for you and TLC!! I hope things get going on Monday.

I've just spent the last hour crying into my pillow. I feel incredibly guilty for doing so because of my beautiful princess inside of me, makes me seem ungrateful. I think I feel very stressed (got a house full this weekend which I don't want) my heart palpitations are through the roof. I did have a little cry when I went to bed last night after hubby dropped off. Really really really don't want depression to rear it's ugly head. I've managed to "keep my head above water" throughout my pregnancy and have done very well. I'm a bit worried about this.

Has anyone else had the same?

Sorry to go on xx

Broken sleep, so not really! I'm just so uncomfortable, & every movement she makes hurts like hell! That's why I'm glad I could come home- atleast I can't see people leaving with babies! OH won't DTD with me, it freaks him out apparently. I've been eating chilli prawns! Not keen on curry! Xxx

I do indeed- relaxation && TLC.... What's that? Lol!!

I've felt very alone this pregnancy. I haven't seen any of my friends since before I was 12 weeks. 4 of the where meant to be coming round this week- said they would text...not one of them have. I totally understand how you feel, what doesn't help me is that I don't have a very supportive partner either so that makes it 100 times worse. I feel really down today- this concerns me as I'm Bi-Polar & I've managed so well up until now xxx

Ladies I hope if anyone does struggle with baby blues you will come on here and talk to us. I'm hoping we can continue to support each other. I'm concerned about how I will cope knowing my dad won't be around to meet his first grandchild, in fact just thinking about it now I'm sat here in tears. It's been almost 3 months and I still can't quite believe he has actually gone.

Sorry for the downer but now I'm not in work there is too much time to think...

GF hope you are ok and everything goes well for you on Monday xx

Nikanaknoo sorry to hear about your dad sending you hugs :(. I think now as we start to go on maternity leave we have less to do and more time to try and relax, but our brains go into overdrive. I am certainly finding i'm thinking a lot more, a couple of nights a week i get in bed and have a little cry. It's not even because i am necessarily upset about anything, i just feel like i am a big ball of emotions. Part of me worries because my mum had post natal depression with all 3 of us, my sister had it with my nephew and still has to take medication after 4 years as she is so up and down... I am nothing like them in personality at all, i have got way more get up and go and a real drive in me. Me and my sister do not get on though and mums always in the middle but at her back and call. I'm the independent one so everyone says which i think i am, but i'm scared at the thought of being alone and not around friends once LO arrives.
Sending you all positive thoughts :). If i wrote down half the stuff i worried about on here you would have a right laugh :).... Thinking of things in 5 years time, i sit there and say to myself helllllooooooo LO hasn't even arrived yet and your worrying about that! Haha xxx
