Harry Brian 14/5/13 at 2:11 am weighing 8lb3oz.
Harry was 10 days early so I would hate to imagine how big he would have been at 40 weeks. I had to be cut too as I really struggled to push him out. X

Hi MrsV, glad you're back on here
Appparently early evenings are the worst for crying. Although I find anytime I sit down to eat is also a great time for Evan to start wailing!
You'll have to pop a new pic of Ada up, has she grown much? xx
Evan still seems to have all his hair, it's really long at the back though so looks a little dodgy bless him!
Seem to be in a "routine" with the night feeds; 2ish then 6ish. He is refusing to sleep in the day though. Everytime he seems sleepy I try to put him down in the carrycot but he only seems to last about 30 mins before he's awake and crying again. Any tips to help them sleep? Tried closing the curtains, talking quietly, I have an app with baby soothing sounds, changing him etc. I can tell a lot of the crying is just overtired but he is not helping himself.
DH is out for most of tonight playing a gig so fortunately have my mum on hand to give me a rest this evening if I need it.
Hello mummies,
It's good to be back and read how you're all doing! It's so reassuring to hear I'm not the only one going through some of troubles with a newborn. Chezza, can you add Ada Kate to your list please? Born April 25th, 8lb 4oz.
Can't believe my baby girl is over 3 weeks already. Can't say it's been an easy time though. Think I had been as prepared as you can be for the sleep deprivation, but I was completely overwhelmed with the emotional side of things. Every time she sobbed it broke my heart. Also cried at the slightest mention of DH going back to work. However, I think it's been 2 days since I last shed a tear, so progress indeed! Have also been flying solo now for over a week and am managing.
Ada is another colic/wind sufferer. We've been on the Infacol for some time now. It works to a degree for her. We've also switched to Dr Brown's bottles (BF didn't work out for us - another matter that caused some tears) and had 2 sessions with a Cranial Osteopath. Seeing some improvement as a combination of all I'm sure. CO was recommended by both MW and NCT BF counsellor. Apparently helpful for ventouse delivered babies.
I'm physically getting there. I'm still on the iron after hemorrhaging 2 litres of blood following the episiotomy. I also got a UTI/kidney infection from the catheter, but that seems to have cleared (although I sometimes still get a weird feeling there?). A gap was found in my stitches, so I try to bath every day in lavender and tea tree oils (I say bath, it's 1 inch deep and takes 40 seconds!) to avoid infection.
I'm envious of some of your sleep routines already! Ada tends to go a few hours max before waking for a feed. 2 hours is typical. Then sometimes she'll go straight back down, other times I'll be trying to settle her for hours. I never know what each night will bring. She's also incredibly difficult to settle in the evenings. Not sure why that is. Feel sorry for DH as she gets very grizzly just about the time he arrives home.
Haven't made it to the shower today, let alone outside, but we try to get out and about as she does like the car! She's currently asleep on my lap after refusing to nap in her basket. But at least it's given me the opportunity to catch up on here.
Big hugs to you all xx

Yay!!!! Welcome MrsV - so glad to see you in here
Little Ada is absolutely gorgeous!
Do you think the Dr B bottles have made a difference...? The Infacol is working well with J, but we had a terrible day yesterday...he cried for hours and I just couldn't settle him - felt like such a terrible mummy.
We had a good night though and have also had a good day today - so feeling a lot happier and a lot more positive about things! I haven't cried in about 20 hours, so doing well lol!!
J got ridiculously grizzly last night when DH came home - I too felt very sorry for him...it wasn't the welcome home he was hoping for!
Really hoping we start to get some nice weather shortly...I spent months dreaming about taking lovely walks through the park and by the river...so far I haven't don't either as its been too miserable! Come on summer!
Motherhood is definitely the hardest and most challenging job I have had so far...but I wouldn't change my little JJ for anything!

Hey AmyQ,
Sorry to hear you are having problems settling Evan...I probably cant offer any advice that will help, or that you haven't heard or thought of already...but will share a couple of things.
Joshua is taking near enough 90ml at each feed now...I feed 30ml, burp, another 30m, burp...then he tends to have a 5 minute cat nap and fills his nappy...we go down for a change...then he has the last 30ml, the last burp...then at least 10 mins (sometimes 20 mins) of rocking in my arms and he normally settles. Sometimes I have to bribe with a dummy as well...
I have also taken to stroking his head - starting at the top middle of his forehead and slowly stroking all the way down to the tip of his nose...this sometimes helps him drop off.
We bought a lovely bouncer chair from John Lewis:
http://www.johnlewis.com/chicco-mio-bouncer-chick-to-chick/p231478513
If he wont settle, we put him in this and then DH rocks him back and forward in the air, using the very handy carry straps...this works 9 times out of 10! He sleeps so soundly in that chair - and the height can be adjusted from flat to sit up - its the best thing we have bought so far!
My main problem is that J screams blue murder every time he has his bum changed! He hates being undressed and just cannot stand being cleaned up. As soon as we are finished and I pick him up, he stops...but during the change, its absolutely heart breaking and makes me feel so guilty!!
