***April & May Mummy & Baby***

Its a whole new dimension with a toddler and chicken pox. He is constantly scratching, diaturbed sleep at night. My mum sleeps in his room atm. Its really hard even though he didnt have a temp.
Incubation is 10-14 days so waiting and praying Mark doesnt get it.
I will be vaccinating him if he doesnt have it now.

Well me and Harrison have been for our 10 day check and have been discharged, Yay!! :D

She weighed him and he know weighs 4000g so has put on 200g in 5 days, she said this is fine and he should continue to put weight on as he lost 30g in the first week.

We've also had our first visit from the HV she didn't do much, just introduced herself and asked a few questions. She's coming back in a week to weigh him etc. She seems a nice lady.

Harrison woke last night at 3am had a feed then refused to go back to sleep, he just wouldn't settle :( Spent nearly 2 hours either rocking him or patting his bum while he laid on my chest. He finally fell asleep at 5am, luckly OH is home so he got up with him and i got to have lay in til 9am...boy did i need it lol. Really did have a freak out last night, wondering how i'm gonna cope when OH has to go back to work :/

I had a massive freak out about OH going back to work today but it wasn't that bad. Though I am still in my dressing gown, nighty and slippers lol but managed to get living room tidied up n hoovered whilst she slept x

Ruby did the same as Harrison, won't go back to sleep in the middle of the night then she had just done the same again now! She is finally asleep after a lot of rocking though she is tightly grasping my nighty still x

I have our 6 week check next week...what do they do at these appointments? I then have first set of jags the following week, totally dreading these:(!

I had a baby brain moment today...getting ready and sprayed hairspray all over me rather than deodorant doh!

As far as I know, these appts differ a lot, but at mine, my GP checked:

Me:
Blood pressure
CS scar (he would have also checked episiotomy if I had had one)
Asked a few questions about general well being and mental state
Discussed contraception in great detail

Joshua:
Full body check incl:
Head, eyes, ears, chest/breathing, hips, legs, feet, testicles, willy, bum and general reflexes.
Asked a few questions about feeding / nappy action / general wellbeing

I felt it was very thorough and came away feeling happy about everything. Mind you, I think I am quite lucky - my GP is a really lovely chap :-) xx

If you look it up on the net most of the information is for the US version of the 6 week check. There you usually get a full internal exam including speculum, pap smear and a good feel around with two fingers to check your bladder, uterus etc. But I don't think you get any of that in the UK unless there is a particular reason to, so don't get too scared :). They will probably check your stitches if you had any but other than that it's just like chezza said, to check bp and talk about any problems, emotional issues, contraception etc and do a checkup on the baby.

Thanks ladies.
The jabs were ok she cried when the nurse done them but stopped pretty much straight away. Got her home and about 6pm she was screaming like really screaming, neither of us cud settle her, was very upsetting seeing her like that, she Never crys :-( oh put her in her swing which she seemed most calm in, she would dose off for a few mins then wake crying. I called out of hours just to be reassured really, that she wasn't having some sort of reaction. She didnt have a temp, just advised to give her some calpol. She had her bottle at 8pm went to bed and didn't wake till 4am which is normal for her. So glad she had a good sleep. Seems much happier this morning.
Also took her to get weighed 11lb4!!
Hope all u ladies have a good day xx

Rubbish- think my c section scar is infected :-( got to see the doc in an hour, was really hoping I could have avoided infection :-(

Just had 6 week check. Should my episiotomy have been checked? I assumed it would but she didn't say anything. Not that I have concerns but no one has checked it since the birth

Amy, my sisters were checked at 8 weeks, in place of her 2 weeks check- I thought they did need to be checked tbh

Yes, they should have checked this for you, just as a precaution! You should have received your first check before you were discharged into the HV's care - but if it wasn't done before then, your HV should have checked it. The second check should have been at your 6 wk appt.

You could always ask your GP / HV to have a quick look for you? xx

Oh bless her - this is what I am dreading! J can be a bit of a screamer (colic sufferer!) - and when he gets going, boy does he go lol! I have a horrible feeling he is going to scream the place down...

I think I am going to invest in a bottle of calpol this weekend, just in case!

Glad your little one is ok now xx

TBH I wouldn't be too worried personally if it was me because I think I'd know if there was anything wrong but if you are worried you can always ask to get it checked.

Still feel weird about not being checked today, I don't think anything is wrong, just would be nice to know everything is as it should be. Anyways, I was going to get the coil fitted at some point as I can't take hormonal contraception (turns me into a raving loon!) so will just get that booked pronto so I can be checked then and not feel like a hypochondriac. Not that DH is going to be lucky yet lol, still need to find the time to shave my legs!!!

Anyone else find that their LO always poo's through a nappy when they are on a bouncy chair?! Evan has taken out 3 babygrows recently, and only when he's on the bouncer!

Oh no?! That sounds awful! Have they started to work for you yet? Doc took a glance at my scar and agreed it was infected so on the anti-b's!! At least they saw me quickly and I got it sorted- fx it clears up pretty soon!

Hope the anti-b's kick in soon, Jolly!

Ladies, I need your advice!

Got my auntie and uncle's joint birthday party tomorrow night. Whole family will be there (I have a big family!) plus lots of extras - I really want to look nice! What should I wear?! My belly is horrible and I just feel all squishy. It's not a dressy affair, it's at a pub, and we will only be there a couple of hrs anyway as don't want Daisy out that late with lots of loud people/music etc.

I was thinking skinny jeans (they are quite high waisted so I can tuck my gut in lol) with a loose blouse and heels? Or a black maxi? I don't knooooowww. It's been so long since I've been out! Plus lots of my things don't look right at the moment. Feel like I have nothing to wear which is ridiculous as my wardrobe is bulging. Sigh.

Daisy has so many nice things I'm spoilt for choice with her haha

Tapatalking!
