***April & May Mummy & Baby***

I have one hell of a constipated baby :-( help!!

We had this with Anna, we poked her bum with a wet wipe to stimulate and then she usually done a little poo then we put Vaseline around her bum hole (sorry for bluntness lol) and she does massive splats after! Xxx

Tapatalking so I can't see sigs x

I find that i can only wash the folds properly in the bath. He hates top and tailing!
Well DS1 woke up with couple of red spots and his nursery has chicken pox :( Wish us good luck.

Hi ladies,

I have a quick question for you all. My little boy is suffering with colic at the min, we've invested in anti-colic bottles and some colief. I've decided to batch make his bottles as the instructions for making them up on demand states that we have to wait half hour, which is no good as he wants the bottle as soon as he wakes!

I've made 4 bottles up and put the 2 drops of colief in each bottle. He's currently drinking 2-3 oz every 2-3 hours. So i have made the bottles up with 2 oz's in to be topped up with boiling hot water when he needs a feed. Is this ok? Or should i just put in the full 3oz? Does it make a difference to how the colief will work?

Thought i'd ask on here as i'm sure i've read a few of you ladies are using it.

Any advice would be much apprecitated, i had seeing so upset. Also when it starts working, will he still bring up wind? Or does it stop it all together? Silly questions really but i have no idea.

Evening Ladies! Hope everyone's ok and you've had a good weekend...?

We took J off Colief a few days ago - whilst it appeared to have the desired effect at the beginning, as the days went by the effect seemed to dwindle somewhat.

We started on Aptamil Comfort Milk in larger bottles with anti colic teats no 2 at the same time and we have seen a marked improvement in his feeding, he has virtually no wind - and it takes him much longer to finish a bottle (even with faster flow teats!) because the milk is thicker.

Hoping that having been through infacol, gripe water and colief...that we have finally found the way forward for our little one!! xx

I literally just posted about colic at the same time as you! I have just finished using colief (I found it helped a little, but do not rate it now!) - and when prepping, you need to put in exactly what you are using - e.g. 3oz boiled warm water + 3oz formula - 2 drops of colief and then leave for 4 hours in a fridge. You can batch make the bottles, but you need to use them up within 12 hours.

It doesn't stop the wind at all - it basically breaks down the lactose within the milk and is supposed to aid digestion. You will still need to burp your little one.

Hope that helps xx

Thanks chezza I've just ran and topped the bottles up with warm water before they got too cold. Gonna wait for them to book a little more then stick them in the fridge. I'm hoping this colief will do the trick if not I'll give the comfort milk and try.

Good job I've invested in a bottle warmer, gonna need it to warm the bottles up!

Xx

No problem Emma - I've gone through a few colic remedies now and hope I've found the winner now!

We bought a steriliser and kit and it came with a warmer...but to be honest, when Joshua wakes and starts crying, it took far too long for the milk to warm up, especially when it's been in the fridge for a few hours...we ended up using the microwave instead - as it only took 30 secs to warm up 5oz of milk from chilled! :-) xxx

I'm using colief- seemed to work wonders for first 24 hrs but now he's got really awful trapped wind again- pharmacist advised us to use the dr browns bottles so I've ordered some and get them on tues so will let you know what they're like.

Also, ordered the tommee tippee perfect prep from amazon and so excited about not having to make up milk in batch!!!

I found the same thing - it worked really well for the first couple / few days...then we went straight back to square one.

So far the comfort milk is doing a good job - keeping everything crossed that this will work for my little chap :-)

Re: Dr Browns bottles - have heard mixed reports on these - let us know how they work for you please xxx

I have this and it is amazing!! 2mins n it's done! X

We've had the referral from the plastic surgeon for Evan through today, 6th August. For those that don't know, Evan was born with 3 fingers missing on his right hand, he has a functioning thumb and little finger but they aren't correctly formed. I have no idea what can/can't be done but will be great to get some information. Apparently only about 60 children are born with an upper limb deficiency in the UK each year.

Evan also managed to scratch a chunk out of his face overnight. Might have to cellotape the scratch mits on tonight!

Amy, great to hear you have an appointment. I am sure these days they can offer a solution.
Scratch mitts didnt stay on for us but socks did.

That's great news Amy - regardless of what you decide to do, at least you know what your options are for the future.

Re: scratch mitts...useless! As knopk put - try a pair of socks instead! Worked for us too :-) xx

Hahaha just seen this Jen!! I must admit I'm a little scared to try!!!

He's been much better with his poo, but now our issue is grunting when we put him down- he falls asleep during his feed but as soon as we lay him down he's wide awake and makes such loud grunting noises!!! He's always burped so not sure why he does this?

I wish I knew what I was doing!!!! Mummyhood makes pregnancy seem like an absolute breeze!!!!

Instead of scratch mitts, I have some baby bodies with integrated scratch mitts in the arms. They're great. You basically just fold back a bit of the arm & it makes a little mitt. O got mine from Next.

He escaped out of those lol!

Will definitely try the sock option :)

Here are some piccies of my little monkey. He is a gurner like his daddy!
