11.30-5! That's amazing! Do you have any tips? Ada's still waking every couple of hours, if not sooner. Sorry your back is bad... Mine aches constantly as I'm having to carry my 10lb 3oz baby around in her sling and bounce on the ball with her most of the day! It's like a military drill! Hope the docs can sort it out for you. I'm hoping for a massage this weekend to make mine a little easier...

Ladies, I'm wondering whether to try Ada with a faster teat... The doc was against it when I suggested it previously, but she's on the Comfort milk too, and it does suggest it on the box... Does anyone know if it would help or hinder her silent reflux suffering? I'm desperate not to see every hour each day! x

Might be worth a try MrsV, won't do any harm I suppose? It might be the key to helping her settle! You never know :) just try everything, I would (within reason of course haha)

Hello hello! Have just found you ladies!
My baby is now just over a week old. Can't believe how quickly time goes!
Had a few issues to start with breast feeding and my milk took forever to come in, but now we're looking good! She's a right grump in the evenings though and the only trick we've found to calm her down is for OH to hold her and bounce on the exercise ball! I can't do that yet because of my stitches lol!
Anyway, Ella Rose was born on 28th May exactly on her due date weighing 7lbs 3 oz and was 50 cm long.
Would upload a photo but it always tells me they're too big. Can't think how to do them with this baby brain!!

Welcome Sophie_Jane

I have added you to the first page :-)

Re: photos - are you uploading from a phone? I've always had trouble doing that, so tend to put them on my laptop first and upload from desktop...always seems to work xx

Hi Chezza! Thanks for adding me.
I have my photos in my laptop & they are about 3.5mb big. When I go to upload a photo attachment, it says they're too big.

On another note, does anyone have any experience with colic? Am pretty sure that's what Ella has and why she's so unsettled in the evenings. The only things that help her are feeding and any type of jiggly movement that helps to reduce trapped wind.

Have u tried infacol Sophie for trapped wind? Dead easy to use, u can get it from boots. We've found it helps. You have to still burp them too x

Hey Sophie...unfortunately I have a bit of experience with colic - Joshua has been suffering with it since we brought him home - it seems to affect him quite badly between 2 - 5pm each day for some reason. We did 3 weeks of Infacol with mild improvement...then switched to gripe water when he was old enough - but he would just keep spitting it out, even when I medicated with a pipette...eventually we moved to Colief and whilst it appeared to be a miracle cure the first few days, I'm still not wholly convinced it is the best way to go...despite my HV stating it was the best thing to use. He was crying for around 4 hours non stop yesterday and it was heartbreaking :-(

As soon as this course of Colief has finished (if I can wait another 2 days), I am moving to Comfort Milk - it should have the same affect (hopefully!) that Colief gives. Not sure if that helps you or not really!! xx

Well after a fab night we have a right grump today :-( He just wont settle and only wants cuddles.

Came home from doctors with another set of antibiotics as i apparently have 2 different type of infections so got 2 courses to take now i swear i will rattle before long :roll: x

I could be wrong (apologies if I am!), but I'm sure I read somewhere or someone mentioned comfort milk being slightly thicker than regular formula milk - and that they had to move to a number 2 teat? I would definitely give it a go - what harm can it do??

I moved JJ to a number 2 teat a couple of weeks back as he can be a bit of a greedy feeder sometimes and was sucking way to hard and not getting a quick enough flow - he was gulping down too much air as well. The number 2's were a bit messy to contend with at the start, but he has mastered them now and feeding 4oz takes about 15 mins!

Good luck MrsV :-) xxx

Chezza - have you looked into cranial osteopathy for J's colic? It's supposed to help.

I've had a nice birthday, my mum and dad took Evan for a bit this morning so I could have a lie in. He's been a little grumpy and has been funny with his feedings. He seems like he's had enough I wind him and then he is crying for more again. Normally we don't make it to second boob but today he has been from left to right more times than I can count. HV is coming tomorrow, I'm guessing he's put on another lb in the last 10 days, he definitely feels like it!

Currently we are going through the evening whinge before he conks out! Tested him out in his cot earlier and he went to sleep. May see if he'll sleep in it tonight. He flails around so much that his carrycot is a little diddy for him now.

Seems like there are quite a few things out there for colic in England. It's not really recognised ad an illness here so they don't really have anything for it. My midwife gave us a suppository that worked for about half an hour but that was it.

Mrs V: my OH bounces on the ball all the time to get our baby to stop crying! Can't sympathise with you yet though as my stitches are still healing & I can't bounce, but he says it really burns the thighs after a while!

Hey Amy, no I haven't tried that...will speak to my GP next wk at my 6 wk check up - will try anything now, thank you! xx

Yesterday I was changing Scotts bum and as I took his nappy off he farted and I quickly covered his bum up incase he followed through lol. Then as I'm driving to the shops 10 minutes later I look down and notice 3 poo splatters down my t shirt on my boobs!

Oh the joys of motherhood lmao!

Haha! This happens to me all the time :)

Wow this thread is busy - it's took me ages to catch up lol.

Harry has gone from weighing 8lb 6oz when the midwife discharged us last week to now weighing 9lb 1/2 oz yesterday when I took him to weigh in clinic :). I was so pleased with my little fatty!

Also he's got his appointment through for his hips. It's in 3 weeks.

Sorry hun, forgot you were in Germany :( and u probs won't have access to the same things we do.

I'm struggling with the stitches too, I feel your pain :( I'm struggling to get around really even after 11days x

Evan slept in his cot for the first time last night. I was really proud and also a little sad as he is growing up so quickly. Can't believe he's 6 weeks old tomorrow.

Should I be offended that DH did a birthday card for me yesterday from him and Evan together and didn't bother getting a little present from Evan to me? Seeing as I've already gone out and bought a father's day card and present. And I did drop a few hints... men are useless!

Just what I was worried about is now happening! I said to Greg that I didn't want us to see looking after Anna as a chore and now it's like "Jen...I haven't had as much sleep and I fed her last time and blah blah" like it's competition!! I'm still healing down stairs and the first week or so he was so supportive and helpful and I love him for that and know obviously he can't do that all the time but it's like that has suddenly warn off and I'm meant to just be doing everything on my own. As of next week, he goes back to work, and ofcourse I'll be doing it on my own but just want up have a bath and sleep and get energy for it but noooooo he has organised we travel to his family tomo which is about 2 hour train ride and gonna be just load of hassle really. Plus I don't want her around loads if people when she not had her jabs or anything and everyone wants to touch her and I feel out of control when not in my own home...if I'm there Greg always openly asks stuff he knows I usually would say know to but as its infront of everyone I just have to murmer and give him a look. It's so annoying! I feel like shouting! And he does this annoying talk thing to Anna like "mummies gonna take you now so that daddy can sleep" and "mummy will feed you because daddy is getting hot" and stuff rather than just saying to me. And to top it off....when he is looking after her he's selfishly playing his crappy annoying game on laptop and never actually bonding. He just lays her down and play his game. And never giving full attention. Like last night he was changing her nappy and I kept saying "watch her belly button!" and he wasn't even watching and instead checking his laptop screen...grrrrrrr I feel like im ending up him and I knew it would get like this but I told him before having her that i didn't want this sort of thing to happen and now it has it's just...grrrrrr so annoyed!!!!!!! He's like a different person...just a lack of sleep makes him such a selfish person!

Rant over lol.

Tapatalking so I can't see sigs x

My DH was like this too; fantastic for the first 2 weeks while he was on paternity and then slightly rubbish for the next 3 weeks. I think it was him having to adjust to going back to work and being a dad (and figuring out that internet games/iPhones/tv sometimes has to come second!!!). While us mummies are mummies 24/7, men are only daddies when they are home. Just keep trying to talk to him and hopefully he will adjust in the next week or two xxx
