***April & May Mummy & Baby***

Hey ladies, just an update from me :)
My two are doing great, our weigh in on friday was excellent with them both gaining 7oz each! The doctor called me Supermum, because she cant believe how well they have done on exclusive breast feeding ;) I feel dead chuffed!
Feeding still going really well, still every 3 hours. Santiago had twos nights of colic which sucked, but we figured out that he starts cluster feeding when it starts, and the doctor gave us some great advice, which seems to be working so far, so i hope we dont get much more of it. He also had a bit of a gunky eye, which has cleared up with a bit of ointment.
I have taken to sleeping on the sofa for now, with them in their chairs laid back, because they just dont settle well inthe cot, but they spend alot ofthedaytime in their pram carrycots, so i know they get plenty of time layingcompletely flat. I sleep far better on the sofa than i do in bed, and the OH gets a full nights sleep, so that keeps him fresh for work.
My mum leaves today though, so from now on, things get harder, i just hope the routine is srted enough for me to cope alone! Time will tell ;)

Welcome Linny! Yay! A May Mum  what have you named her hun? X

Hi Nicki! Well done, BF 2 deserves a medal! A little tip for you, if your babies get a gunky eye clean it with some cooled boiled water on a cotton wool ball then gently squirt a little breast milk in. Do it every couple of hours and the next day the eye will be better. Sounds mental I know but I promise you it works like magic xxx

Tapatalking so can't see sigs or click thanks!

Welcome Linny :)

BF 2 wow! What a woman :)

Just doing a little expressing whilst madam has a nap.

Off to my mums later for a BBQ but oh is tinkering with cars first so I will expect a lot of swearing.

Enjoy the sun 8)

Well caden is 5 weeks old now and last night he was trying very well to sit up when i had him sat on my knee to burp him. I know he doesnt have the muscles to do it yet but he gives it a go. He is very good at holding his head up for a bit on his own and will look around the room at sounds and even search out his daddy when he hears him. He plays with his rattle on his bouncer and will grab things like my hair and top and any thing he can get his hands on. Im sure he is not suposed to be doing all of this yet is he?

Hi ladies,

I'm back on the forum, please can I add my little boy, Trey born on 8th May 8.4lb. It's great that everyone has migrated over here now!!

We are combi feeding and struggling a bit to get into a routine, his feeding times are 2-4 hours apart. I've been breastfeeding which is so painful about 4-5 times in 24 hours but also expressing about 2oz in a 30 min sitting, i'm so scared my milk will dry up, We are also topping up with formula as he seems to still want more after breastfeeding and just doesn't seem satisfied. I'd like to exclusively breast feed but it's a real struggle, I feel like I have to fight with his arms to get him on the boob and then to get him to latch properly, its bought me to tears a few times, i just got some nipple shields yesterday and tried them this morning and they are ok, I guess I just have to persevere and hope it gets better? I can't wait to be settled into a routine that suits both of us.

I'm loving being a mummy though, my little boy is perfect and i really have to stop myself from just cuddling him and staring at him all day!

Hi ladies is it ok if I join you? My LO was born on 6th may, 15 days late! It Would be good to chat to other mums with babies the same age as mine.

Babybushie28 try swaddling in a blanket or get a velcro swaddle wrap to hel keep the arms out of the way. It has helped my son. He also needs more food after breastfeeding for an hour he just grows so much he needs that bit extra. As long as ur still managing to do some breastfeeding dont worry about topping up if baby needs it. Caden will have 150mls after he has fed from.

Thanks Hun that's a good idea, I have tried swaddling but he always manages to get out, I'll try searching for one that keeps him trapped in lol

I am in love with my sling! Evan just sleeps in it and had a brilliant night last night with no tantrums. Could be a one-off but I'm very very hopeful! :) Would highly recommend it to any ladies with cranky babies.

Congrats and welcome Linny! If you can let me have your little girls name and birth weight, I will add you to the front page :-) xx

Hi everyone. I'm officially a May Mummy now - my little girl Katherine (Kitty) was born on Wednesday 22nd, I was induced early due to gestational diabetes. She was a decent 7lb 9oz. I'm breastfeeding but not without issues at the moment, hopefully we'll get them ironed out soon. Hope everyone else is good! X

Hiya! Your little boy is gorgeous! I love his name and his babygro lol

I'm having problems to with BF and still struggling. Scott has only managed to latch a handful of times and I pretty much exclusively pump. It's hard work but I hired a double hospital grade double pump from my HV and it has been an absolute god send. I manage to pump enough milk to only feed him breast milk and have even managed to freeze some.

If you check out my posts in the breast feeding section you'll see a link to a really good video about how to increase breast milk production by using your hands to compress the breast while you pump. It has really helped me pump more milk. I also soak a tea towel in water, wring it out and heat it up in the microwave till its as hot as my skin can stand and hold it on my boobs before pumping or feeding and it really helps get the milk flowing.

My little one will also only latch using Nipple shields and we are still persevering with it, I'm hoping he will get the hang of it so I can just BF without the need to express but taking each day as it comes. I try him on the boob loads and now refuse to stress about it if he can't latch and just pump and bottle feed it him instead. I know what you mean about their bloody hands! Constantly in the way lol. I don't like swaddling him though because when I feed him I like him to only wear a nappy and me topless so we get maximum skin to skin. I just do my best to move his hands instead.

Obviously Trey drinking direct from your boob is far better but I well know it can be a struggle so I do recommend asking your HV about hiring a double pump to boost your supply. I'm pretty sure if I didn't have that pump Scott would be on formula now.

I also spend hours every day just staring at my little bundle lol, they grow up so fast and I'm determined to enjoy every second xxx

Hey girls, I got midwife coming over this morn to discuss my mood. Just can't stop crying through anxiousness that I do something wrong especially with feeds. It's getting gradually worse where I don't want to hold her or anything and OH goes back to work next week so I feel like I'm rushed to feel like a normal mum :( OH has been great and helping soooo much. He was the one phoned midwife. I just want to feel normal :(
