Just a little tip...

After changing your babies pooey nappy be sure to wash your hands immediately before licking your fingers to open up a nappy sack.

I sadly found out the hard way...

Thanks for posting this Tambo, I needed a laugh today. Hello to you btw and to all mummies!

After thinking that Ada was suffering with wind or colic, it's now been diagnosed as silent reflux. A friend of mine suggested it and doc agreed this morning. Great that it's been diagnosed, but she was prescribed Gaviscon which thickens the milk. We had switched to Aptamil Comfort only a few days ago, which is also thick. Doc said not to change the formula again, so now we have a milk so thick, neither teats 1 or 2 allow her to suck any up!

The Gaviscon apparently makes them constipated and this has only just improved anyway from when I dropped the breast milk, so I'm reluctant to return to first milk, as the comfort formula seems to have helped with this.

As Ada is a month old now, we tried Gripe Water also today as I read that it was also an antacid. She hates it and spits it right back up. So to make sure she's actually getting some food we have just been giving her the comfort formula in the end, which means she's still in pain with the heartburn and we're no further forward. It's been such a miserable day. She's also so overtired now, we've had no break from the crying all day (and most of that is from her).

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Hope you're all ok xx

Oh Mrs V, i feel for you, my son had reflux. I tried Gaviscon, then ranitidine and domperidone but not much improvement. Finally we found it was CMPA, he had prescription formula for top ups. I am not sure you can add gaviscon to comfort formula, dont they do the same thing?

I can't offer a my advice sorry MrsV just wanted to say Hi! Not seen you on here for a while. Hope you get Ada's reflux sorted hun x

Thanks Knopk. What's CMPA? It says not to mix the Gaviscon with thickened formulas, but that's what the doc told us to do. She said use half a sachet, but even that made the milk too thick. It's like we're being made to choose between constipation and heartburn - both which cause her pain and distress. Neither the doc or the HVs are concerned because she's gaining weight. I'm glad that her weight is fine, but seeing her in frequent pain breaks my heart. My friend said the Domperione worked for her son, so I'm going to see if they'll prescribe that instead, or else see a private paediatrician. I can't just wait for her to grow out of it (which was another suggestion by the doc) x

Cows milk protein intolerance. I would push for domperidone/ranitidine if gaviscone doesnt work, we took DS1 to a&e where he got it prescribed. Its really hard seeing them.in pain. My son didnt grow our of it until.about 1

What a week :wall2: Eliza still not gaining weight (still not back to birth weight at 3 weeks) She is feeding 30ml two hourly but taking the two hours to take it. Her reflux is worse so starting on ranitidine. Yesterday she wouldn't take bottle was grunting and noisy breathing with gunky eye so took her to hospital she has eye infection and viral infection :( Got call to say her tongue tie is being done on friday. Lets hope next week improves!

Here's pic of little lady x

Hope you feel better soon knopk and hope Eliza has a better week.

I went to see a lady about slings today. Come away with a woven wrap to try for a week; was wearing Evan this afternoon and it was great holding him and having 2 hands free! Hopefully it will help with the evening grumpiness and he seemed very happy in it. Even managed to eat my dinner while he was in it (although I did put a serviette over his head so he didn't get dinner on his head!) xx

Heya shell, glad your LO is doing well. Dont worry bout feet thing, I have to do that too as well as her arm. You can circle their feet and the brush the inside of them to get baby to straighten them out an spread their toes. The exercises should correct any little bendy issues :D apparantly it's quite common :D xxx
