***April & May Mummy & Baby***

Rian has very dry skin so she prescribed some cream and bath stuff which i use i daily its improving but today she told me im not doing it enough and need to do more!! Also she said that as he has skin problems he likely to have food intolerances too!! So im only to try him on one food at a time!! x

Really...? I didn't know / think that skin tolerances led to food intolerances...? I never know what to believe with most HV's tbh! I was asked when I intended to wean...I said 17 weeks and was promptly told that THEY would tell me when to wean...hmmm, no - don't think so!!! Sorry to hear your LO is suffering with skin problems though...what cream / bath stuff are using? xxx

Aqueous cream and he had emollient bath stuff which is hate as its like oil!!

I never knew that skin can lead to food issues either having said that i dont believe it much both my nephews had really bad ezcema as babies and have no food issues at all.

Damn HV xxx

I called my HV today and spoke to her! Yep a bloody miracle. Apparently I can give Evan up to 6oz of water a day - which sounds like a hell of a lot. He took about 1.5oz earlier which is good. He was sick after his feed this afternoon - about an hour later, cottage cheese like (tmi :S). He also had two screaming fits and no poo today which is unheard of for him. I'm only doing Gaviscon for 3 feeds and the night feeds he is never sick after. Poor little boy. At least knockout boob worked tonight, just hope we only have one wake up call tonight fx.

If you have a skin problem while you're young it can lead to food issues later on. My mum had ezcema as a child and it was actually due to a milk allergy. Best advice is to keep an eye on foods as you wean him but he won't necessarily have allergies xx

The HV said they would tell u when to wean?!! They r fricking off their heads. I'm biting the bullet and giving in and going to get jack weighed on Wednesday. I hope that HV isn't there the one who called me irresponsible and stupid for weanin jack when I did because I feel that I may just tell her to go do one!!! He loves lots of different fruits and vegetables. I still give him the odd rusk. Especially the other night when his gums were sore for teething. I'm sure he now knows that it's just a treat and not his regular dinner. Chezza how did u not tell the HV to F off?!

Well we had a proud mummy moment earlier. Jack absolutely hates tummy time. He screams and cries so we only probably do it once a week. ( which I'm sure the HV would have a shit fit at)! Anyway he was wide awake before his bath time so we both laid on a blanket on the floor and I rolled him onto his tummy and he lifts his head up. No hesitation. He lifts it up off the floor and gives me the cheesiest grin. He then did it for his dad later on. I know he's a little late doing it but his adjusted age is just four months old. Whereas he is now actually 5 and a half months old.
Anyway there was a few mummy tears from me. And jack is led there laughing at me!! He was giggling away. The little monkey.

Hope everyone is well. Xxx

Hi ladies, from a seasoned mum of a toddler, eczema is unfortunately linked to allergies, incl food and asthma. Most children grow out of it but there is a link. So introducing one food at a time is a good idea x

Tapatalking so cant see signatures

My oh's daughter suffered severe eczema as a baby, she was even hospitalised for it at one point because her cheeks cracked and bleed every time she smiled/laughed/cried etc. Turns out that was because of an egg allergy. She is 12 now and still can't eat egg or she has a huge outbreak of eczema. She also has asthma.

Hope you're all well, I've now started waking Scott up between 5 and half 5am because I am fed up of being woken up by a baby who screams the second he is awake like he hasn't been fed for a week! I'd rather wake him with a bottle stuck in his mouth than hear his awful blood curdling howls lol and so far it's working, not giving him time to realise that he is obviously being starved to death therefore he must alert the entire street haha.

I really need to get myself this wonder week app/book, I have no clue about leaps etc except what I read here so none of it makes any sense to me. Scott is being exceptionally grumpy the last few days though so can I assume that's a leap? Or just daddy's genes?

My daughter's back at school tomorrow and I'm really proud of her. Last year we had to get her size 30 waist skirts/trousers and because she has made a huge effort this year with her weight she is now a 26! Looking back at photos of her is quite shocking, I didn't realise how chunky she had become and for the first time in her life she wore a pair of size 8 crop jeans! In total she has lost about 2 stone purely by healthy eating and going out on her bike every day, none of this fad dieting, just sensible eating. She's going to be 13 in 3 weeks and I'm really looking forward to treating her to some nice new clothes :).

Anyway gonna get another hours kip if I can, have a good day :) xxx

Been up 2hrs. She just will not sleep. She was doing really well a few weeks a go and now our day starts at 4. She's only sleep for 4hrs then waking for a feed then going back to sleep for 3hrs then waking but refusing to go back down. 4 weeks ago she was sleeping 8:30-3/4am. Then down again until 6. She's been through the 3rd leap last week and it was awful but its just getting worse. Half 12 we were up last night. Half 12!!! I don't think she's having enough during the day but I can't force it down her throat :( x

Hey Shell, JJ had really, really dry skin and I was advised to use Cetraben on him - you can get a massive tub in most pharmacies. I slathered him in it at every nappy change and 1 week later his skin had completely cleared up. I don't know if its virtually the same sort of stuff you have been using...? But may be worth a try when you run out of your current stuff?? xx

When she told me that she would decide when I could wean, I just laughed at her...she gave me a funny look, but I just smiled and continued to dress LO. My hubby was with me for this weigh in (the first one he has attended) and he was gobsmacked! I know they have a job to do, but at the end of the day, there are 2 people who get to decide on the care for JJ - me and DH. No-one can or will tell me how to look after my boy. xx

So much happens on the thread if you don't read it every hour! I've missed loads lol

Hello pudds, glad to hear your well, your lexi is just so cute!

Chezza I gave to Agee with you HV are put on this earth to annoy us and make us feel bad. I can't wait to try out different foods with H. As soon as he shows signs, I have my cook book, spoons and bowels, freezer trays and baby steamer/blender at the ready!

As far as the skin issues being related to food intolernces, they can be but not always. Usually if lo has something like a milk intolerance you would know about it. As your having no other issues? I would say, hopefully it's just a bad case of baby eczema. My eldest had eczema and had out grown it by the time he reach 1. I found oilitum(sp) I think it was an E45 brand. I was given creams but they just made him greasy, didn't actually help him :/

Tambo your comment of Scott alerting the entire street of him being starved to death cracked me up! I don't usually get cries like these any more, thank god!

Brandnew I also have a child that hates tummy time, I maybe get 1-2 mns max on his belly before he kicks off!

Amy 6oz!!! That does sound a lot, I only give H 2oz through the day, I didn't know they could have anymore than that.

Well I've had a good morning with H so far, he woke at 7.40, played in his cot til gone 8, had a full bottle, played under his gym and we've sang nursery rhymes. He's just had a nap, all of 30 mins and is now awake talking to his teddies.

He's getting better at night too with his wind, it use to take me around and hour and half to feed and wind. Where now at 30-40 mins in total! Yay!

And I'm pleased to announce we've had poops!! Thank god, probably explains the good mood and him drinking all his bottle, he has room now lol.

Oh and he took a toy fro OH last night!! We had him in th bath and were playing with his coloured boats. We offered a boat and he reached out and took it!! He was very shaky but he actually grasped it and took it from OH! We tested him with 2 different colours and both times he took the boats, with his left hand. Nit sure if that means he's going to be left handed?

Xxx

What a waste of a morning. Evan woke at half 7 for a feed. Was going to try to put him back down but thought I could take him to baby massage instead for the first time. Got there and it wasn't on. So I thought I'd drive 20 miles to a baby equipment place to look at high chairs... to find it closed 3 days ago. Then a bus decided that me being on a roundabout didn't give me right of way. Let's just say the horn got a good work out. At least Evan got a nap in the car but seriously...

I can't keep up either!!! I just like coming on to make sure everyone is ok and I end up having five pages to read!! ;-)

Hope everyone is well. Is it just me or is anyone else relieved that children are back at School? This is from an entirely selfish first time parent point of view with no other babies at school because it means...shops are quiet again!!!!! Hahah!!!! Space!!

I'm definitely going to make the most of it before baby no.2 comes along and our peace is totally shattered :-)

Speaking of which, we've booked our mini-moon in The Forest of Dean in a little lodge with a hot tub in December with champagne on arrival :-) maybe that will help baby no.2 find a home in my belly ;-) hahahha!!! Although fredster will be coming with us!!

Anyone else just look at their babies daily and think "I'm a mummy?" Sometimes I still find it hard to believe how incredibly lucky we are, what an absolute gift :-)

Sorry, feeling very mushy today!!! Xxx

And thank you so much stargirl and Emma for the sponsorship- very kind of you and means an awful lot- I'll have my pf girls in mind when I'm trotting along :-) xxx

Bless you Amy, hate it when you have a whole morning that goes wrong! Hope you have a nice quiet bubba this afternoon and are able to chill out...sounds like a job for tea and lots of biscuits :-)

Well, I think we have a black eye on the way...JJ got a bit over excited with his mousey rattle this morning and clonked himself not once, but twice with it :-( Great...if a bruise does appear, that will get the HV's talking wont it!!!! :-( Said rattle has been confiscated for the moment...

Jolly - are you going to the Forest Holidays retreat for your mini-moon...? If so, that's where went in April for our baby-moon!! It's awesome...I have a photo album on FB of it :-) We only had a standard cabin and that was lush in itself!

And yes, I sometimes stare at my LO and think, "how on earth did you get here" lol.

I spoke to my HR dept at work today - to confirm my return date. Gutted....wish I was able to stay off for a year, but I don't want to completely drain our savings - we worked hard to get them up to where they are. As it stands, looks like I am going back mid November to do 2 x 3 day weeks. Then in December I will start back properly - 4 days a week (3 in the office and 1 working from home). I have 3 weeks off over Christmas though, so something to look forward to quite soon! xxx

Yes it's forest holidays!! So excited, looked at loads of cabins but they were all out in the open and we wanted a cabin in the forest, but close enough to drive in a few hours so that ruled Xmas out- I'll have a look at your photies!!

Just found out I have to go to a wedding on my own on Friday as they just won't let rich have the time off and I'm not prepared to let the bride down.

This royally sucks, don't know how I'm going to cope with that ultra shitty situation !!!

Luckily he will have finished work by the evening do!!!
