***April & May Mummy & Baby***

I'm up again expressing milk for the 3rd time tonight/this morning. Waking up 3 hourly to pump and feed baby is taking its toll and i am seriously considering switching to formula. I can deal with waking up to feed him but not be attached to this bloody pump for half an hour as well :(

So tired and pissed off right now  x

Tapatalking so can't see sigs or click thanks!

I know exactly what you're going through. It is really tough to express and feed. I only managed it for five weeks I've slowly weaned off now. I can't handle being that tired and losing sleep unnecessarily. I kept going for longer than i thought i would by setting myself a goal each week and decided to come off when i did in advance.

Its really hard work hun and you're doing a great job. :-D however if its not making you happy that's not a good thing. You need to be happy to have a happy baby Xx

Tapatalking :-D Can't see tickers...

her tummy must be so much better! She is sleeping like a log! I have only fed her a little just to give her belly a rest do she seems content.

I have a BF question. I wanted to breast feed but can't get her to latch at all and in hospital, she was in neo natal a lot and I was having transfusions and decided there that I would try formula and BF. so I expressed some at hospital by hand and she had that as she just doesn't latch. I offer it all the time and she sucks for a little while and then cries. Plus as she is so big I would prefer to see how much she is having so I dont mind too much as long as she gets some breast milk for the antibodies etc. So...I sterilised my pump and bottle and expressed 40ml. Popped that in fridge and fed her later on that evening. Next morning my boobs were rocks and I tried expressing again but nothing :/ the pump just kept spurting out what I had expressed and was getting covered In it so I gave up. This morning i tried again and still no luck! So in the end I hand expressed in to the bottle. I washed my hands and everything an the bottle was sterilised so do you think that is ok to give her?

Well done Tambo for expressing, i havent managed to express although had an intention so i can give him a top up in the evening. Does your lil man not latch at all? How were nipple shields? Does he have a TT?
JBJ, technically you dont need to sterilise if its breastmilk but yes, should be fine. I know ladies keep the pump parts in a food bag in the fridge during the day to avoid sterilising all.the time. BM is so good it kills nasty bacteria.
It will keep in the fridge up to 5 days, 6 hours at room temperature

Also try hand expressing first to get the let down and then pump. I always hand expressed more than with a pump. Has she been assesed for tongue tie and did they look at her latch?

I'm here! This is weird....I'm a mummy lol. I just written a thread in panic as have some trouble....although she has settled down a lot but hope I'm doing something right. I suspect a tummy ache as she just wants to settle her belly with more food but obviously not gonna give her some as its he has eaten so much and it's not a hunger cry. It's a "what is this!" cry. I feel like a terrible mum when she is crying :( xxx

Hey Jen, so how are you doing??

I did reply on your other thread - hope you managed to get Anna Marie settled? Do you think she may have colic or just a bit of a wind?

Joshua has had colic for about 10 days now I think...like I said, I use infacol before every feed and it seems to help. I am moving to gripe water on Monday though - they can have this as of 4 weeks. I find that when the colic is quite bad, I keep changing the position I am holding J in - moving him around quite a lot, rubbing his back and tummy, until we find a position that he is comfortable in - it can take a while sometimes (worst episode has been 3 hours - but usually its around 20 mins).

Please don't feel like a bad mummy - we are all trying to learn so many new things - we may not get there straight away and be able to stop our little ones crying immediately, but we'll all get there! Just do the best you can - no-one can ask for or expect anymore xxx

Hi Jen and Tambo!!

And happy birthday vandb :)

I've definitely got mastitis :( got antibiotics for 2 weeks. Plus got a blister on my nipple (sexy) which is really sore. I am a mess right now! Need to keep the milk flowing through that boob to help the mastitis so am expressing until the blister's gone cos it's too painful to feed. Started giving D some formula yesterday as she was just constantly hungry. What a difference!! She's so much more content. Plus it meant OH could feed her yesterday evening and I went to bed straight after dinner, which was fricking amazing. I feel soooo much better today for that sleep.
So I guess we're now combi feeding!

Tapatalking!

Hi ladies, would you mind if I join you? Have been following the forum closely throughout my pregnancy and learning lots from the questions that have been posted! But now lo is here would be nice to have somewhere to chat to those in a similar position who could maybe help if I have any questions!

Awww PP - well done for making the decision to combi feed - sounds like the best possible thing right now! You are doing your absolute best - don't forget that! xx

Hi ladies! Just popping my head in to say hi! Our little girl has been here over two weeks now and I've hardly had a moment to get on line. I just seem to have got a handle on breastfeeding one handed and typing with my left hand so maybe you'll see a little more of me lol. Despite being busy and sleep deprived I'm loving being a mum. Hope everyone else is doing well.

Poor Evan is not enjoying his antibiotics. Have to give him 0.5ml twice a day and the faces he pulls when I give to him are not impressed. Only got another 9 days to go but his bellybutton looks good, just a little gunky which I clean at every nappy change.

I can't believe the amount of wee he does, I'm changing at least every 3 hours and he's nearly soaking through the nappies. Hoping the antibiotics don't give him diarrhoea cos I don't think I could handle that!

Poor little man is also suffering from a receding hairline lol!

Happy birthday V&B xx

Hiya, he latches momentarily and either fights my boob screaming in frustration or falls asleep! I went to see a BF specialist yesterday and she said I don't need Nipple shields I just need to re educate him on how to suck from the boob rather than a bottle. I've created a lazy baby by giving him bottles so he doesn't want to work at getting his milk from my boobs! He doesn't have TT though.

I'm still persevering atm but if I do have to switch to formula at some point at least I can say I tried!

Thanks for your nice comments ladies xxx

Tambo, it is indeed easier to drink.from a bottle, i hope BF specialist can help. Its worth persevering to get him to latch as i found BFing becomes a doddle after 3 months (and easier by 6 weeks). And i would hate to pay for formula if i can help it.
Good luck hun, hope you find a solution. Well done for getting this far, you are doing a brilliant job!

Poor little sausage :-( But at least his bellybutton is looking better!

Have you tried a variety of different nappies..? I hear that Aldi do some really good ones that keep winning awards, but we don't have an Aldi supermarket anywhere near us! I've tried Pampers and they were ok, although did seem to soak through really easily? Little Angels from Asda seemed to work quite well and Morrisons own brand range are pretty good too?

Any recommendations from anyone else...?

Hello - can i butt in and ask a question please?!

I have a 7wk old who is just an insomniac at times, take this evening for example she has been awake since 4pm and is showing no signs of being sleepy at the moment. If she does fall asleep or even look drowsy she goes in her basket and her eyes ping open! How on earth do i get her to sleep - how do you get your lo's asleep?!
