**** April 2015 Mummies ****

We have had 15 babies so far! Which isn't bad considering we're only on the 12th April. I do need some of you to have late babies so I have people to talk to on here :loll:

Still 2 weeks to go here for me and no signs of any early movement so I think we'll be keeping each other company...I may even become a May mummy....would love to meet the little one sooner, but I only finished work on Friday so I actually wouldn't mind just having this week to myself yo relax a little, plus I have a few lunches planned lol x

Aww I might be a May Mummy too, which I don't hugely mind, i'm just feeling impatient!

Do you have any gender predictions for your LO?

Really don't know what to do now. Contractions aren't getting any closer together (disappointing) but they are feeling so strong I'm starting to really struggle. I'm absolutely exhausted - no one warns you that dealing with contractions is tiring work! Xx

Bless you cossie, I take it you cant get any nap time in? Can you put on some relaxing music and chillout in bed or somewhere? Have you tried warm baths/showers to ease them?

I've tried napping but it's almost like as soon as I start to drift off a contraction kicks in so napping is a no no (I'm dreading bedtime!) I've put on my labour playlist as it's full of motivational songs and songs that I just really love listening to try and keep me at ease and I've had 2 warm baths this afternoon which ease the pain for the first couple of contractions that I'm in the water and then it's like the water isn't warm enough to do any good but I don't want to have the water too hot because of baby! I think if it looks like I'm not going to get any sleep to night then I might call labour ward again and tell them I'm struggling with the pain and see what they say.

This is a lot tougher than I thought it was going to be :-(

Bless ya, sounds like you're trying everything...the water is only too hot if you find your heart racing, get a thermometer and check temp, you should be able to stand 35-37 easily enough...Ive also got a playlist like yours so hoping mine helps a little too...what about reading/audiobooks/films?

if you really feel you can't cope anymore then go back in cossie, things might be progressing more than you realise so worth a shot going back in to be checked out and if you're about 2 to 3cm dilated they might keep you in to give you some pain relief.

i hope things start to progress for all you ladies soon :) x

Woo so much happening today.

Congratulations CDx. Sounds very dramatic you poor thing. Delighted to hear Arran is doing well though and hope you make a quick recovery too.

Good luck Cossie. Sounds like you are doing well- give yourself credit. You'll get there and nothing wrong with getting help with pain relief, especially if it helps you not to get too exhausted too early.

Kitten. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about visitors other than my mum and dad but I had them, in-laws and SIL all in hospital about an hr after I was in the ward. Didn't bother me at all as I was so delighted to have baby here. All I will say is that with two visiting times a day try to limit who all comes and when. My MIL came every session and although we'll intended I felt crowded and didn't get time with my own family. They also arrived at house everyday after we got home until they thankfully went away for weekend-bliss:). On other hand I appreciated my mum calling to see us as she helped out with dinner etc and was there to talk to and relax with. Suppose what Im trying to say (badly) is don't rule your dad coming as you may be glad of him after and if not he will understand.

Thanks everyone still in the High Dependency Unit and struggling a Bit but Arran is doing well. I have an MRI scan in the morning and still have abnormal bloods.

Can't believe my baby is a day old already! He is perfect x

Sounds like you are having a really rough time :-( I hope you are on the mend soon so you can enjoy baby Arran.

I'm into single figures - 9 days to go!

Hope everyone is ok this morning. Hows things going Cossie? Well I hope :)

Well we came home yesterday which was nice. Theo wont sleep in his crib though so exploring other sleep options now! Any suggestions welcome :)

How are you getting on cdx?

Xx

My son was diabolical at sleeping. Tips I got at the time was warming up the crib with a hot water bottle before putting him in. Wearing a muslin cloth on you so it gets your scent and putting it in the crib so baby feels you are near. I used Ewan the Dream Sheep as it is supposed to remind them of being in the womb with the pink light and white noise. My son responded okayish to white noise and lullabies. Erm, can't think of much else now! Hope that helps though and good luck :-)

Wow single digits rooster how exciting! Im down to 2days!

Interesting sleeping tips will remember those...

Now started having nightly lower bak n hip/buttock massage from OH as part of hypnobirthin whilst leaning over birthing ball- its ace n great practise for him cos c myself needing a lot of massage in early stages lol. Braxton hicks have ramped up to point where can feel them during the night now...only occasionally with pain still but very regular...

Think my lower bak n hip pain is due to her dropping a bit as it seemed to ramp up the other day all of a sudden. Cant tell the obvious symptoms as carried low neway n have quite long torso. ..makes me laugh tho when they say you'll know when u cant sit witb legs together...ive had that problem since wk 20 onwards lol n also have trained myself to sit with legs in a v shape...oh well who knows...the aches r starting to get annoying now tho...come on baby girl make your entrance...

Still no diagnoses but my blood results are improving, heart rate has stabilised and I'm on tablets for BP. Still waiting for a time for my MRI. Fed up to being woken with 6 or 7 doctors and consultants standing at the bottom of my bed talking about me like I'm not there.
My fluids are really restricted which means I am so dry, I try to eat but the food gets stuck to the inside of my mouth. I just want to be able to look after my baby but I can't because of wires everywhere and I can't walk. Feeling very fed up.

Arran on the other hand is going from strength to strength.

Still nothing ladies. I called the consultant unit again last night as they were so painful. They advised I popped into the MLU in Shrewsbury first just to get checked over so I did. She said she couldn't even reach my cervix :-( she did say he's now 2/5ths engaged instead of 4/5ths so at least he knows that's the exit! She also explained that the contractions are likely to be more painful as he is lying back to back. This apparently causes more back pain and stronger contraction pains lower down just below bump. He is however doing really well in there and seems quite happy and not distressed which is reassuring. I just wish I could get some sleep now!

Thanks for your encouraging comments ladies. You are all fabulous and I'm so grateful to have you all to speak to! <3 xx

Aww cossie!! I know how you feel chick. Mia was back to back and it was painful but I still managed on just gas and air. Mind you I had no time to have any other pain relief. Ask for Co codamol that will take the edge off of the pain :) hope something happens soon for you. Xx

Definitely want baby to stay in for a couple more days now - my son is poorly again :-(
