**** April 2015 Mummies ****

AW Nicki, that does not sound nice, I'm getting loads of pressure down there, but no pain. Good luck at the midwife, are you gonna ask for a sweep?

Thankfully not getting texts etc yet, reckon they will start next week.

Wow rooster, that's a long time between appointments! Is that cos you have already had a little one I wonder?

Mmmm kitten, BBQ sounds lovely!

So I had my check up, bp was good but protein is back in my urine, but they didn't seem too worried about that. Had another sweep, not dilated any further from last time, am hoping this one does something! Back up to the hospital on Sunday, so will be asking for another sweep then.

Xx

That does sound odd rooster - unless it's different with your 2nd child? I have 36 weeks then 38, 39 and now 40. I'm not sure emmajaine. I always feel really awkward asking for stuff as they are supposed to be the professionals and know best. She did say at my last appointment that they usually do sweep #1 3-5 days after due date, then another 3 days after that and then induction at 10 days past due date. Hopefully it won't get that far though!

They probably will emma, but mine have been going since I finished work 4 weeks ago!! I think that's why it's annoying me most! I feel like I've been at 40 weeks for the last 3-4 weeks!

Can I ask what they do in a sweep? And how long it takes etc? Midwife has mentioned it but not really explained procedure or anything!! xx

Bless ya, I soo would have said something to people if they had started trying that early!

Basically for a sweep they ask you to part your legs (like for a smear -feet together and let your knees drop) and then they put their finger up there and feel for your cervix, they check to see if it is soft, where it is, how long it is and if it is open at all. If it is open(dilated) they push their finger into the gap and swirl it around to try and separate the membrane from your cervix (which encourages your body to release the hormone to start dilating). Its not pleasant by any means but its not as awful as I was expecting it to be, feels slightly worse than a smear in my opinion. Takes only a few minutes to do one which is good! Hope that makes sense.

Xx

Midwife went well. Baby is fine although he's back to back at the moment but that could all change right up to delivery and midwife told me things I can do help move him round. I've got a sweep booked for Tuesday morning. My midwife said that because I've been getting the pains that I have then the sweep is more likely to work than if someone who had no pain were to have a sweep. So positive thinking now for this sweep!!

I've not had a smear yet. I was supposed to go in for my first one when I found out I was pregnant! So obviously that was out of the question!! xx

Hi ladies

Just to announce baby Theo Jack was born today at 13.08 weighing 6lb 5oz and is already feeding like a pro :) just waiting for his big sister to come and meet him :)

Hi guys, not totally sure but think I may have had my show,

(sorry if TMI...)
I have been using epi-no for perineal training for weeks and recently made it to 8.5cms but on the second day had a bit of blood so took a break from it thinking maybe Id been a bit overzealous and tonight resumed, not as much blood this time but it did have mucus in it.

Now Im sure tearing doesnt result in mucus coming out so hoping its my plug starting to come away but not sure...

I've googled the pics (I know yuk right but a girl has to check...) and defo looks like it but how much do you usually get as this was a bit stringy and like half an inch in length...? Could it just be starting to come away or could that be it?

Seen the midwife earlier today and no other symptoms but after my pink discharge a few days ago (before my bleed) thought maybe it was on its way...Think may give epi-no a rest for a few days and perhaps see if get more bloody mucus, what do ya girls think?

Feeling absolutely overwhelmed tonight and can't stop crying.
everytime baby kicks it reminds me I won't be feeling that for much longer. I feel unprepared physically and emotionally for this induction. I'm anxious for labour and worried about baby and why they would be booking me in 48 hours after seeing me when I was only there for a presentation scan. Everyone around me is so excited and I feel I should be too but I am absolutely sh*ting myself. I know I'll be a mess tomorrow too.

Cx

Bless ya CDx, not sure what to say as not been in your position except that perhaps you need some time to yourself to chill and connect with baby, perhaps by talking to your baby about tomorrow may make you feel better about it and a bit more prepared? I dunno if that helps...
