***** October 2015 Mummies ******

I'm worried the room will look too grown up for a little baby
He wont be a baby baby for long I suppose xx

We are not turning the spare room into a nursery yet. The baby wouldn't really recognize it as their space until they are 3-4 years old so we decided to wait with decorating until then. Besides, we only just decorated all the rooms and can't bring ourselves to starting that mess again :/ I think we will probably 'assign' one wall for baby's cot and units and put some decoration on that wall only.

I cant wait anymore to come over to Tri 3; I've only got 2 more days until I am officially over here anyway!

It is all starting to feel more real now, I have spent so long thinking I have already bought pretty much everything I'm going to need, but because I have had it done for so long I'm starting to doubt myself....! Will have to start double checking it!

When is everybody considering packing their hospital bag etc? I'm tempted to leave this until the end of August when I am 33 weeks.

Woo hoo I'm in tri 3  the most terrifying tri as all the posts are about giving birth lol!!!

We are going to London tomorrow for 2 days then as soon as we are back I'm gonna empty out and repurpose the overnight bag for my hospital bag :) packing it early as my sister gave birth at 31 weeks last year!!!

My plan is hospital bag completely packed this weekend, do hypnobirthing CD once a week until 32 weeks then do every other day until 38 weeks and do daily. Start on one cup a day of raspberry leaf tea at 34 weeks increasing it to 2 cups at 37 weeks, 3 cups 38 weeks etc.

Buy pram and monitor and breast pump at end of August. Then dig out and clean all my stuff from my ds out of the loft during September and finish buying any niggly leftover stuff. Then chill all October apart from stocking my freezer with meals and bags of pre chopped ingredients for my slow cooker lol!!!

I've decided not to have a nursery until Xmas as baby will be in moses until then, so gives me time to find and buy a big boy bed for ds as he's still in the cot bed we will use as the cot for the baby.

So in theory as long as baby comes on time I'm organised, if it comes early I'm screwed lol!!!!

mine is packed but then i am going in to hospital early. I am being very naughty, not tri 3 til friday!

I need to buy my bits and bobs for my hospital bag. I will hopefully get a wee day away child free to do this LOL. And then get babies bag ready, I'd like to have this done by 34/35 weeks. Then 38 weeks onwards I will sit under stairs with car seat LOL.

With my 1st I was so so organised. This time I really am not. By this point I had everything bought, and organised.

Rachael, this is rather detailed planning - I like it!

Re. hospital bag - I have all the bits and bobs for it and will start packing around week 35 :)

 I know lol I sat down last night and was like right LETS DO THIS!! I wanted my schedule up on my calendar lol am sure it will all fall apart as these things do but at least today I've got an empty brain from dumping it last night!!!!!!
I figured if I do everything to prep for the birth EXACTLY the same as last time even down to the cups of tea maybe I'll be lucky enough to have as perfect a birth even though I so know that's not how it works

As far as nursery is concerned I will wait until baby arrives before deciding on a theme etc, as baby will be in our room until around 6 months as I'm hoping to BF & it makes BF much easier when you just have to reach over for baby as opposed to trekking into another room lol.
At the moment the theme of my daughters room is colourful animals, were renting at the moment so didn't have the freedom to redecorate. The walls of the room she is in are white so I bought vinyl stickers on Amazon, there is a big tree with multicoloured leaves, with owls & monkeys sitting on branches, at base of tree there is pink giraffe & purple&agreed tiger, other areas of the room have pink elephant, monkeys hanging from branches, more Owls, lions, pink zebras etc... & I also have little birds & butterflies flying over her cot. I got furniture from ikea, got white unit which fits those coloured boxes & placed different coloured boxes (pink, torquoise, orange) into the holes, so this is where little ones clothes are stored, I just wanted the room to be bright & cheerful. Little one can name all animals now & points & makes animal noises on her way to bed.
In relation to hospital bag will prob pack this around 34/35 weeks, last time out I ended up in hospital at 37 weeks (had to be blue lighted in without hospital bag or Hubbie) & had to send Hubbie to pick up hospital bag which had only been partially packed & was bit of a nightmare as I had no hair brush or dressing gown or tooth brush in there, so was constantly having to ask Hubbie to go & fetch things & he could never find them, so when I pack it this time, I'm going to pack it properly, nothing will be left out lol!

Well nursery will be finished by end of august
Hubby is up at 5:30 every day for work
So im not gonna sleep in our bed until baby sleeps right through
Weve bought a single bed for his room (plus guests need somewhere to stay too)
I plan on breastfeeding and light bothers him when hes trying to sleep so just thought itd be easier me staying in his room

Hospital bag... I've no idea.
Will be starting antinatal classes next week so will learn bits then thatll hopefully be handy

Stuff still to buy...
Nappies
Backup formula (if bf'ing fails)
Highchair (later)
First aid/medication kit
Change back

And I'll pay balance in full in a few weeks for car seat and travel system

No idea what I'm missing!

Things I would never have thought of first time round:

Sudacrem
Nurofen for babies
baby bonjella
Nipple cream!!
Cotton wool
Infacol
Baby thermometer
Muslin squares (never even knew they existed with my first!)
Bibs! for dribbles

Hope this helps :) xx

Lansinoh nipple cream is a must if you plan to breast feed. The chaffing in the first few weeks is a bit ouchy, until I got that stuff in my life! Its expensive but worth every penny.

I got so much stuff last time that I didn't need. Its quite nice to go out and choose some stuff when the baby is here, so don't feel like you need to think of everything!

We are the house of no sleep again as Jess's last molars come in. Up 4x overnight with howling toddler, and then she got up at 5.45 . Thank god not working today.

Now, I must look at cars today. My mini worked fine with one, but I think my love affair is over, I won't get 2 children plus dog plus husband in...

wow I'm loving the planning!!

I'm going to go through my list again and see what else I've got to get, and make sure I am as prepared as I believe!

I hate to sound like a novice, but what effect does the Raspberry Tea have??

I'm sure it softens the cervix. Can speed up labour. Lots of people think it induces labour, but not what I read.
I took it with my first. But how can you measure of it works? I think it's good to have in your head that your doing something to get this baby moving!

I dont see how it could work
Everyone tries loads of things to bring labour on and I don't think I know if any of them worked lol

Rlt is supposed to help tone the uterus to make labour easier and reduce post partum haemorrhage :)

Loving all the planning ladies, lansinoh cream is amazing, definitely will be buying some for my hospital bag!
Cant comment on anything bringing labour on as nothing been successful for me in past, but everything's worth a try- so wishing you all luck when the time comes x

So we had a look at prams on the weekend, still not sure maybe I get all the essentials first x

I have no faith in raspberry leaf tea/capsules, I took it last time and ended up going into labour 4 days overdue, had 36 hours of strong contractions that never even got me to 3cm and an emergency section ;) AND I lost 3 pints of blood. So this time I'm not bothering :P

Safe to say I will be going for everything; the tea, bouncing on the ball, floor scrubbing, nipple stimulation and sex (sorry if TMI) - I just have to give it all a try out of curiosity or desperation I imagine
