40+4 today the most pregnant ive ever been. I feel completely miserable. Hoping u girls who r having lots of pains r progressing well and cuddling your babies x

Not a great night but got a little rest as contractions dropped to about every 15mins which I was upset about but probably good to allow me a breather.

Tmi warning- just went to the loo and felt something kind of drop out :s not sure what really, was having very heavy show yesterday at times and that tailed off to just old looking type blood but nothing ever happened like that. Any chance that what I felt was the waters between babies head and cervix?? Trying to bounce on ball to see if anything else occurs haha (lovely)

I looked but to not put too fine a point on it is been on the loo for a bit :s there was nothing obviously different, it felt like something liquid and when I wiped it was wet but with brown bits too, similar to show I guess but with being told yesterday i was 3cm and cervix was soft and paper thin etc I didn't think there would be much plug left???

Not noticing any leaking, trying to move around lots so if baby is blocking waters it might just realise some if I'm active. Going to see how I'm doing at lunch time and call local hosp then I think.

Contractions about every ten mins now, sometimes less. Can I be having contractions, be fully effaced and 3cm dilated and just not get any further??

Yeah u could be. Ur contractions also help u dilate more n more so if u have been contracting all night and u gt checked an where 3cm yday u cud well be more by now.

I'm 39 weeks today. Got regular mw app tomorrow morning but spoke to local hosp assessment unit and they are happy for me to pop up there at 3:30 to get checked and see how things are looking (it's really handy them being so close and helpful). Just didn't want to have another night of getting up every 15 mins and be totally clueless about if there's been any progression or not. Also just some reassurance about things in general.

Ooh and fingers crossed sweep does the trick!

Im hoping so aswell. I was up last nyt with awful awful loose bowels and then cramps n backache on n off and woke this morning with backache until bout 10. And nothing since lol. I hate the unknown x

Yes - that's what happened to me. I was contracting about 3 times in 10-12 minutes and I was only just 4cm when they examined me at hospital. Because I was contracting so often they allowed me to stay. After a whole night contracting under their supervision, more examinations, I just wasn't dilating the way they expected. From looking at me they said they expected baby to be almost making his entrance even though I was doing well with the pain. But I didn't get past 5cm dilated.

Don't want to freak you out, but if you're contracting a lot, and it's painful, go get checked at hospital and get some advice.

My waters broke spontaneously (well, after 2 sweeps), then i went to hospital when I was approaching 3-4 contractions every 10-12 minutes. Went to the midwife led unit for a birth pool type experience, and spent the night there contracting and them expecting baby to arrive any minute. I was doing well with no pain relief other than the pool. Then they examined me and I hadn't really dilated further.

Made the decision in the morning to go to the delivery unit where they put a drip on to induce and speed up the labour. But after about 8 hours I had only dilated another 1-2cm despite still contracting so badly they were waiting imminently for baby to arrive.

Eventually I was so exhausted contracting so much with little pain relief that they advised an epidural so I could get some sleep, which would also be useful if I still didn't dilate and a section occurred, which I agreed with. After more time on the drip and still no dilating they advised an emergency section. I was in theatre within 30 mins after that.

The recovery is so tough, but getting baby out safely was my overall birth plan. I didn't have any strong ideas about birth, so in the end, it all worked out.
