* * * * * May 2014 Mummies * * * * *

Morning ladies. About to go in to my 29w mw appointment. Hoping she tells me my bump is a normal size as everyone keeps saying how massive I am! That's rubbish that not everyone is told about whooping cough jab!! Xxx

Enjoy :) let us know how you get on hun xx

Aww thanks Vic. Hope all goes well with your midwife appt I'm sure you'll be measuring just fine. It's weird I've seen some people say there measuring big and they've got quite a small bump and vice versa just goes to show how different we all are.

It seems quite a few have had growth scans is this because if measuring big/small or just what your hospital do? They est baby at 2lb9 at 4d scan at 28+2 xx

Awww fao sorry you didn't get your dvd or better piks but glad your little man has turned now, bless him, they are little monsters aren't they!

I had my whooping cough jab yesterday, it was not to bad to be honest, i didn't even think she'd done it, lol. I had it in my right arm as I'm left handed and I sleep on my left, it was fine all day yesterday but is a little uncomfortable today if I knock it or lift my arm, nothing too bad though.

My DS's room is finally being plastered today, so will be able to start getting his room ready and move him out the nursery :-) - mind you his op is next week so that might delay us a little x

I was measuring 3 bigger than dates but I ain't worried at all as baby is on 50th centile from growth scans it's just my uterus is a bit more stretched than other ppls with having 6 already , I've not seen mw since 24 weeks I'm 30 now she thought it was ok to not see me at 28 weeks cos I had consultant and I'm not down to see her till I'm 35 weeks!! And I'm high risk , I may have a pop up to walk in on Friday just say I wanted urine checking and wanted to know how my bloods were as I've no idea about those either , just feel a bit neglected cos consultant doesn't do measurements or have a feel or listen to baby even the stupid scan lady didn't say much about how baby was laid and I thought high risk u saw mw quite a lot after 30 weeks :-/ anyways sorry ur baby didn't cooperate at scan naughty baby lol love ur pici sinead :) I don't think I'm getting one now money realy is quite right ATM and we have a pram to buy still and a holiday to oay for before June oh joy lol xx

Cute 4D pic :)

I'm not sure how much baby weighs or how I am measuring or what position baby is lying in, at my last midwife app she measured me but didn't actually tell me anything and I didn't ask as we were in deep convo about other things while she was doing what she had to do, I'll defo be asking at my next as I would like to know :) I think averagely baby should be weighing 3.31lbs at 31 weeks pregnant.

As for the ladies who haven't had or heard about WC jab please make sure you make an appointment or ask your midwife - my midwife told me they advise you to get it between 28-32 weeks and that its very important, I made my appointment there and then and got lots of leaflets and advice about it, she gave me some figures (cant remember the exact figures) but she said cases had more than doubled from 2010 to 2011 and that in 2012 more than 1000 babies caught whooping cough in Scotland resulting in a lot of deaths, she also mentioned that these mums had great healthy pregnancies and gave birth to healthy babies and from there on they caught it because the mums had not been vaccinated.

Its very important you get the jag, not for you but for your baby - I got mine around 29 weeks, wasn't sore - just like a normal jag, a bit tender to sleep on the first night or lift my arm high but definitely worth it after hearing that.

I hope I haven't scared anyone! X

I got a letter from my surgery about the wc jab, midwife didn't mention it. My little sister had wc when she was a baby, horrible! I had it last week, the nurse said they don't just do a wc vaccine anymore, it's also tetnus and polio included in the same one.

I'm back to work tomorrow after a month signed off, I'm quite apprehensive about going back. I think I'll be office based and end up with filing and being bossed around doing the boring stuff like that (my job isn't office based!). But I'm needing a nap right now, given up attempting to write an essay as not getting anywhere, also feeling a bit of cabin fever!

Anyway I'm off for a sleep before I get grumpy! X

Just booked by wc jab for next week. Keep forgetting to do it so thanks for the reminder. X

Has anyone had a visit from their health visitor at home yet? Mine is tomorrow. Just wondering what normally happens at this appointment? Xxx

I would hope none of our ladies had to go through that :( yes I forgot to say that too that there are other things in the jag, not just for whooping cough! Sorry to hear your not looking forward to going back to work, not be long and you'll be off on maternity and can enjoy it and not have to worry about work :)! Enjoy your nap! X

Glad your booked in to get the jag , hopefully you don't find it too uncomfortable :) X

Little Girl due 24th May :)

Congrats & welcome :pink: , that's my birthday! X

Haven't had this sorry, didn't even know this happened - when are you due? X

No ones mentioned WC jab to me, will have a look into it. I didn't have flu jab after research so will see what I find with this, midwife hasn't even mentioned it though and I'm 32 weeks now xx

I'm due 3rd May. I did phone up when the appointment came through the post and she said she'll be out about an hour and she's a member of the community health visitor team and that's it's to introduce herself etc, but I'm not sure what the 'etc' would be haha xxx

Appointment went well. It was a dif mw to my usual one as she's on holiday (she can stay there lol) and this one was sooooo much nicer. My bump is measuring 28.5cm which she said as very normal and she was laying transverse with her head on my right side and her legs on my left (she's prob moved my now though lol...) GDD results came back normal and she gave me the details about antenatal classes which I need to call and book. I get three classes a month before I'm due. How exciting :) xxx

That's great news Cherry. Sounds like the midwife I got last time as mine was in holiday too. I'd happily have her instead lol. Pleased all is ok x

Vic, I didn't get told by my MW about the WC vaccine, I read about it on this forum and booked myself in with the nurse at my GP practice. If you want it, then you might need to be proactive.

Thanks for this fao. I had no idea. I think it's totally unacceptable - if it's not routinely given then it should be mentioned to us still, regardless of whether it's given at midwife appointment or by a nurse. Shouldn't have to come on forums like this or google to find out about it. Although after reading the comments in the Nhs website I'm not so sure I want it. But surely if it's of such great importance why isn't it mentioned to us? They bang on about the flu jab enough. Apologies for the rant! x

I figured that since it gave the baby immunity until he has his own injections, and since it was a multiple vaccination it was worth it. Just a little jab for me but big benefits for baby. Arm was sore after though, but not a reason not to have it. I agree, NHS let me down on this one, but basically my mw was crap and didn't book me in for stuff she should have earlier on either. Good job I informed myself and organised stuff!

Thanks sproglett. With hindsight I would have had right arm so I could sleep on left side. Bloody sore to sleep on left for a week! Reminded me of bcg at school, lol.

Exciting about nursery progress. Hope op goes well. What a time to have extra worry!

Nobody has mentioned this to me either. I think it varies depending on where you live.
