**** June & July 2013 Mummies and Babies ****

We think Josh has a milk allergy intolerance so are waiting to see a dietician in June. It'll be formula or carrying on bfing for us x

Noah has 7oz formula morning, 5oz formula afternoon and 8oz cows milk for bed.
Had this for a week now.
Before that his afternoon bottle was cows milk.

He loves it. Cold or warm!
Ive bought 2 more tubs of formula, when they go im switching to cows completely. Even if thats before he turns one X

Am going ro start switching Harry to cows milk. This next week or so xxx

I'm waiting til he's one to move to cows milk as that's the advice you're given. I use cows milk in his rice pudding though and he eats it happily. He's on two bottles a day now, both 7oz. Morning and bedtime. Plus 3oz of formula in his porridge. He usually finishes his nighttime bottle but I think he's starting to drop his morning bottle as he rarely finishes it now. I'm the same holi I've given up worrying about his milk intake! Great the passport arrived! Portugal here we come lol xx

Just wondered where everyone is at with car seats? Are your babies front facing yet? We wanted to keep Josh rear facing to a year but his head is now just about level with the back of the maxi cosi cabriofix so we're accepting defeat and going to get the next stage one this afternoon. Will be very strange to have him facing forward - I think he'll love it tho! x

We are still managing with the maxi cosy at mo!! Hoping it will be ok til 1 like you! Not sure about next stage car seats, need to do some research! I think I want one that turns so when you open car door it's facing outward while you strap them in. I've only got a 3 door at mo but hoping to change in oct time so a turning one will be handy! Xx

We are still in our 1st stage too, but thinking about moving over in the next week or so. We've already bought the 2nd stage (babyweaver) but are just waiting for him to get up to the recommended weight. Think he's got about 6oz to go!

Do most second stage have a recommended weight? What do I do if Rosie is too big for first stage (head over top) but not heavy enough for second stage?? I'm reckoning she's only about 17lb 4oz?? Xx

Its something like 9kg, or 9 months old, whatever they reach first.

However, I'm holding out til the weight limit, despite the fact he's almost 11 months, as I'm just a worrier!

Ok cool, hopefully by time she's 1 she won't be far off 9kg - did anyone consider a rear facing one for the second stage car seat? I keep hearing its safest for them to face backwards til 4 year old, but don't want to buy one, then a year later she hates facing backwards that I then need to buy another forward facing car seat! X

Josh is way above the recommended weight, he's at least 25lb so I'm not too worried about that, I've just been a bit safety conscious about the whole thing. But now unless I squish him down his head pokes out the top.

I've done loads of research into car seats including rear facing. Whilst there are specialist companies that sell rear facing none are near us and the only one I've been able to find to look at is the maxi cosi two way pearl. It's £375, not that I like to put a price on safety but that's a bit too expensive for us and also the product is quite new so although it's been tested there aren't many user reviews available. I too worried that he'd hate it as he gets older as he's already getting fed up being backwards and wants to see more around him. I also looked into the impact shield seats but they are restrictive and also not very easy to get lo in and out of.

We decided we wanted an isofix so are going for the maxi cosi priorifix. It scores well for safety so I'm happy (let's see what I end up with later!). They also do one called axiss that turns round so might be worth you looking at Holi? X

Still using stage 1 maxi cosi here. Maximum weight is 13kg. Age is irrelevant. Had lo weighed the other day he's 9.3kg (20lbs 8oz) so in no rush to change it as want rear facing as long as possible.

Yeah that's the one I'm looking at, it's currently discounted down at halfords from 225 to 165! My sister has it and loves it, just gonna spend some time now reading reviews and research etc. we can't really afford anything much more than 200 so gonna try and hopefully find a good one for that price! Xx

Can I ask what are your Los wearing to bed now it's warmer? Also what tog sleeping bag if you use them?
It's starting off very warm but does drop to 18 eventually through the night here.

I'm in Lanarkshire too robyner. It's warm tonight. No heating on and the monitor says 23 degrees so it's pretty warm. We've been putting him in short pjs or footless sleep suits and a 1 tog bag. Usually use a 2.5 tog but been feeling it warm lately so switched to the 1. Taken my 1 tog bags to Portugal. Not sure how he'll cope in the heat over there. He was going doo lally tonight he was so hot and sleepy!

We do a short sleeve vest, baby grow and 1tog bag. Sometimes a blanket on top. We live in an old farm house with no central heating so it's cooler than most houses! And for some reason, I never bought a room thermometer! So I just go on my judgement!

Rosie's being good fun at the moment, she's leant to clap hands when I say 'clap hands' - I don't even have to clap my own hands and she does it! It's a little glimpse knowing that they are starting to understand us! So lovely! X
