****July 2018 Mummies - Tri 2****

Thank you ladies! So happy the baby is doing well. The consultant asked me to consider elective c-section. I think I may do that... I am really scared that this baby will also get stuck and they will use forceps again... or worst they won't be able to get the baby out :( Am I being unreasonable? x

certainly not unreasonable. my DD got stuck after being back to back and trying to turn at the very last minute. they used a ventouse to get her put when her heart rate dropped. have they talked to you about statistics? second labours are usually much easier but I can totally see why you'd want a c-sec. my poor aunty had two forceps deliveries which she said was awful.

for me, my midwife did say if I wanted a c-sec she'd refer me to a consultant but I'm more worried about the recovery time of a c-sec with a 3 year old to.

do plenty of reading before you make up your mind

Thanks Shep, I intend to read about it and get 1st hand opinions from friend who went through it. I will have OH at home for firs 2 weeks and mum after that for next 3 weeks. That should help a bit x

Definitely not. Elective sections are for exactly your situation. It's you who has to go through the trauma again if baby gets stuck and you who has to recover. Better to elect than end up having an emergency section or be cut, forceps etc. Like Shep says do look it up and research. Also depends if they think you'll end up in the same situation as last time too. But in the end, go for what you want hun all that matters is you and baby have a safe positive delivery xx

That's what I'm thinking... I just want the baby to be safe. I don't want go through that nightmare again. Consultant says it is totally up to me.

I suppose another good think about the c-sec is actually knowing when the baby is coming so you can plan everything ahead of time, like maternity leave, paternity leave, babysitters, my mum flying over etc. So much to consider x

There's that. Must be so weird knowing the exact date baby is coming out lol. You could have absolutely everything sorted beforehand lol. That would be great knowing your mum could definitely be there for the birth.

For me I'm terrified of surgery so I'd have a breakdown if they've told me I needed a section. But for you if it's a better option then that's a different story. My actual birth part was positive aside from tearing and all the stuff afterwards. So I can't understand what it's like to have had such a traumatic experience and how it affects subsequent pregnancies. You and baby are all that matters. Seems like you have a great consultant too, did they give you a time limit on when you have to decide? xx

She was very nice and understanding. She said I don't have to decide until I am 36 weeks?!! Obviously I won't make them wait that long but it is nice to have the time x

Khtw, if it were me id have it but I understand if you dont want to. But it's better than being rushed for an emergency section and your oh not being able to go in, or waiting 3 months to recover again.
I remember being in labour telling them I want a section and I'll take the pain later on aha. My biggest fear is loosing too much blood again and having to stay in Hosp for a week for transfusions! Hubby was only allowed to be there from 9 till 9 I couldn't get out of bed my vag was so swollen I couldn't do anything cos was impossible to close my legs ahaha. I think I'll panic when it gets closer heh

KHTW that's fantastic that they're giving you that much time to decide what you what! Xx

Sounds really sore!!! I remember the pain very well... 2 years later!!! I know no doubt I'll be very sore after the section but in a different place. So at least I'll be able to sit down?! Childbirth is hard! Why can't men do it?! lol x

Very good. I won't take that long. They booked me in for a scan when I'm 30 weeks to check the size of the baby but that won't matter anyway cause DD was showing average size but was nearly 10lbs! Scans are not always accurate for weight x

Gender scan in 1 month!

In no time at all PB!

Mine isn't until 16th of Feb :wall: xx

Got my 20 weeks scan date today too, 19th Feb! So will get to see baby twice in Feb. Then once in March, once in April. Exciting times ahead!!

Ladies, I couldn't have the tests done at my scan cos obviously the baby was in a ridiculous position so they told me to have the blood tests done at my 16 week appointment for downs, does this include the other tests aswell? X

I had my bloods done at my scan appointment for downs. I think it's only for that though. The Pataus and Edwards screening that we consented to can be done at the 20 week scan if I remember correctly xx
