Kmac - I understand how hard those kind of decisions are. I think that you need to do what is best for you right now, and if you want a more challenging job then you should go for it. It's probably better to get one before you have a baby as more demanding jobs are harder to get as a mum. At least if you are already working there you can pick up where you left off after the baby.
But then again, maybe if you have a baby you won't want that kind of job anymore. There are so many unknown factors that can't be accounted for until after you actually have the baby. I spend my time debating these questions over and over again. We don't know where we should live when we get back. If we should try to go home early this year (not only about ttc but my work) etc. It's hard. But when it comes down to it, it's hard to stop ttc once you have started. I was going to and couldn't.
