****April 2019 Mummies****

awwwww our first girl :pink: congratulations.

We were in bed last night talking about the sex scan and were we going to a gender reveal like the oh wanted for his bday and thankfully he isn't bothered about doing that now, so my agony of waiting wont be prolonged, thank god!

The majority of my friends think its a boy and i think its a boy and said to the oh if its a girl i would be very surprised. Only time will tell

Seeing the midwife this afternoon, so excited to hear their heartbeat <3

I’m seeing the midwife this afternoon too but getting worried about whether they are even going to listen to the heartbeat as it doesn’t say they do it on in my notes and on my bounty app it says they don’t do it anymore at the 16 week appointment, seems like there’s different things going on depending on where you live, I will be so disappointed if they don’t do it today :-(

Ahhhh no hopefully they will - cant imagine its extra bother for them doing it, surely? definitely ask though x

Well apparently it’s now guidelines for them not to do it as they don’t always find it easily, I’ve been googling (ha) and found another thread lots of women saying they didn’t get to hear it either, I’m going to ask anyway and just explain i need the reassurance! She might just do it anyway seems like some of them do and some of them don’t, it’s rubbish how inconsistent everyone’s experiences are x

Hey guys, I had my 16 Week app today and my friend had said ‘oh you’ll get to hear the heartbeat’ (she’s 36 weeks pregnant so not all that long ago she had hers). I was so excited as I hadn’t really looked in to what this app entailed. But when I got there I was in and out so quick, just a pee in a cup, blood pressure and made my next appointment, no listening for heartbeat :( so don’t be too disappointed if they don’t do it xx

ahhhh no thats rubbish :-( my notes say they do, so i bl**dy hope they do, especially as my oh has got the day off work for this reason :wall2:

Nightowl - I would definitely just play the 'sorry party' and see if they will do it.

I will be so dissapointed if they dont x

If your notes say they do then I would totally play on that IVW and say you would like it done

My notes don’t say it, I reckon mine have been updated to a more modern version or something, I’m not getting my hopes up, seems like everyone gets a different experience doesn’t it x

Just had my MW appointment was literally in and out, they didn’t listen to the heartbeat said they don’t do it at 16 weeks now but they will at 25 week appointment, I tried to play the anxiety card but she didn’t seem interested to be honest! So got nearly 4 weeks to go till 20 week scan to see baby again x

Aww congratulations raining flowers gorgeous news and lovely to see one for team pink.
Our gender reveal was so funny because I was convinced I was having a girl Haha! I was so surprised when blue confetti came out!
I have my midwife appt on Thursday, I was expecting them to listen in heartbeat. I am so surprised they haven't done it for some of you. I am going to have a look in my notes and see what it says xxx

ahhhh no, thats rubbish :(

Its so unfair we all get different treatment, surely its just simpler if all mid wifes are singing off the same song sheet  x

I’m really shocked they don’t do it with some people, I had my 16 week appt and they did it (to be fair it was in my notes) and then last week when I had a physio class at the maternity home I mentioned to them that I’d felt flutters but nothing for a few days, they straight away listened in with a Doppler for my peace of mind - without me even having to ask!! So they’ve done it twice for me without even having to ask! Xx

It’s ridiculous the way everyone gets a different experience, I think it is the new guidelines now not to do it at 16 weeks but not everyone is up to date yet, I am a bit disappointed not really sure I’m feeling any movement yet so just really wanted the reassurance x

Such a shame you didn’t get to hear the heartbeat :(

I even asked and they just said it’s just varies, but she couldn’t really say why.

My little jelly bean was was wriggling about loads, but she eventually got it <3

They still want me to have the glucose test, which I think is a waste, but he ho x

That’s good that they done it for you as it does sound like it’s not nhs guidelines anymore at least the appointment wasn’t a waste of time for your oh, glad my fella didnt take any time off to come today, the mw I seen today said they start doing it from 25 week appointment now so at least I’ll get to hear it then, the glucose test hasn’t even been mentioned to me! X

I had my 16week midwife appointment today and she listened to the heartbeat. She also said if I wanted to book an appointment every week to go in and listen to the heartbeat I can. I think it's because of my 3 miscarriages and because I'm high risk. She said they would rather keep stress levels down as much as possible so of that means seeing me every week or just whenever I'm feeling anxious they are more than happy. Maybe my midwife is just really nice!! It is such a shame that everyone doesn't get treated the same though!

I was almost wanting her to say that, but it was like she didn’t want to or really didn’t know. I had a student midwife but my main mw was there just confirming what she said

Is it just me or do some of you get a bit overwhelmed with all the tests and when we should have them - I’ve already forgotten what was said about the flu jab and the other one  think I will just ring up my mw people tomorrow and slowly go through what I should be doing :oooo:

Oh no the glucose test is because my half brother has diabetes, but it’s not on my mums side, it’s my mums ex husband, so as much as they said to have it, I actually think it’s a waste of nhs time, so when it comes to booking it in, I will decline. My side of my family are all fit and healthy and my oh and I especially, so I am pretty confident I am safe in saying no x

Yeah I’m losing the plot with what we are supposed to be doing and when ha ha, I completely forgot to book the flu and whooping cough injection on my way out the doctors today, but at least I got the nhs exemption certificate thing for dental and prescriptions out of today’s appointment anyway, there was a few questions I wanted to ask the midwife but didn’t end up asking, felt a bit like they just wanted me in and out, didn’t ask how I had been or anything, I’m finding the appointments a bit of a let down!

Yeah If he’s not blood related to you it won’t increase your chances of diabetes, it sounds a bit grim that glucose test id be avoiding it too ha ha x
