***** October 2015 Mummies ******

Oh god, girls, I wish I had taken my rings off like you ages ago. Still no joy here :( it's the damn sizing beads.

The weather is cooler today so the plan is to avoid salt and drink loads of water and hope that tonight I'll be able to get them off. There's still a tiny bit of swivel room but if I retain any more water / put on any more weight I'm in serious trouble! I was reading about people who had to get their rings cut off by jewellers last night - I seriously do not want that to be me! Worst comes to worst I'll weather through with them on and hope the swelling goes down after the baby arrives.

Anyone know what would happen if I needed an emergency c-section? Would they cut my rings off if they were still on?

Only if your hands were starting to swell affecting bloodflow I would imagine littletwix x

Oh dear... this is no fun! I hope the swelling goes down enough for you to take them off!

No idea about the c-section. Hope it doesn't come to that x

Yikes, I hope it doesn't come to that too :(

I'll keep an eye on them and if I think the bloodflow is effected I'll head to the jewellers. I might ask the doctor when I'm in there again next week to see what she says about the theatre/section thing.

Why not work at taking them off and keeping off til delivery?
Try steeping in cold water
Theres a trick with thread that apparently helps get rings off of swollen fingers x

If the finger starts to look a dusky purple then its time to have the rings cut off. A&E will do it for free, a jeweller will charge you!

Position might be the key? Get that hand in cold water above your heart level. This is what worked for me yesterday. Definitely drink loads, as it is a weird paradox but you'll have more swelling if you are a bit on the dry side.

If you can't get them off or have to have them cut off, don't worry about the section thing: They'll just put some tape over them.

Thanks Fliss, that's very reassuring to know about the tape. I'll give the water over my head a whirl tonight as well. On to yet another pint of water! :merry: I'll be stationed close to a loo for the rest of the day!

Had my 31 week midwife appt today
Gotta have a growth scan in a fortnight
3 weeks ago he was measuring 90th centile and now hes measuring 50th!
Im looking forward to be seeing him again though but worrying hes not gaining as much
I've gone off my food past few weeks whereas up til then i HAD to eat every 1.5-2hours! So dunno if that has something to do with it

Also had my whooping cough vaccine
It wasnt just whooping cough though. It was also polio, tetnus and diptheria. It bloody hurts!!

that's great that they're monitoring that for you MrsS.

I'm convinced that the amount I eat is directly related to how large baby is. I get a growth scan at every appointment and I've noticed a drop in the percentiles since I've been eating a bit less. I ate my way through my holidays a few weeks ago and he was measuring 95th when I came home, he's back down a bit now since I've reigned in the eating. I think there might be research out there on maternal weight gain/baby weight gain and there's a link between the two.

I had been worried about the femur length v head size and my dr said not to worry that these scans can be out as much as 20%. But sure it'll be nice for you to see your baba again in two weeks :)

Yeah i couldve just been fatter 3 weeks ago therefore bigger bump in the way
I dunno though
Realistically I've no way of knowing my true weight minus baby
All i know is im still half a stone less than my booking in!

Fliss you are a GENIUS!

I put an ice cold bowl of water on a table and then sat on the floor with my left hand in the bowl above my head for as long as I could bear. Eventually I thought my hand was looking a bit skinnier so I sprayed windolene on it and I got my engagement ring off! It hurt like absolute hell but it's off!!

I still have my wedding band on but the band is pretty thin and sits quite low on my finger, so it's not bothering me much. I'll tackle that one in a few days if I need to, I don't think my finger could take any more battering from my engagement ring! Those sizing beads are a curse!

Good stuff, Littletwix!! I would definitely repeat the exercise with your wedding ring sooner rather than later ;)

Tell me, Ladies - do you drink water when you get up at night to pee? I was up 3 times last night, my new record :-? Each time after I've been to toilet I took a sip of water and then had to get up again some time later to pee again!... x

I get up to pee about 4 or 5 times whether i drink or not
I am thirsty at night so i have about 3 or4 gulps of water on my return back to bed as i feel dry
Its been so hot at night lately i think thats why x

KHTW I do this, I get up for a wee and have a drink, but mainly because I feel thirsty and know if I don't I wont be able to get back to sleep with a claggy mouth.

I'm still wearing my rings, they seem to go on and off quite easily, I do occasionally get days where my fingers swell a bit, but I leave it a couple of hours and then I have another go and it's fine.

I'm now going to try and eat a bit better; I am eating fairly well, but treats are always passing my lips and the volume of food I'm eating is crazy! I'm tempted to look at what a good diet for breastfeeding would be and follow it in preparation. I follow someone on Instagram who is still following Slimming World throughout her pregnancy, and I really couldn't do that! I originally thought I would, but I have definitely changed my mind!

So has everyone had some swelling then? When did it start?... Ive not had that at all x

Gosh, I can't stop myself from snacking on most unhealthy thing ever!! Chocolate bars, fizzy juice, cake - you name it! And lately I took a real liking to Pepsi, I have to have a few sips a day, can't help it. I feel guilty for eating/drinking stuff like that but still do it!

I still eat my fruit and healthy meals but the amount of sugar that I consume in between is unreal!

Mine started shortly after entering into week 30. It is mostly my hands and maybe my feet and face got a little bit puffier x
