**** November 2012 Mummies **** (everyone welcome)

Oh right I understand.... So the food he is holding he doesn't eat then eg the pasta?

If you don't think he is ready then why are you giving him foods to taste? Isn't that what weaning is about? Introducing foods with the goal of then introducing meals?

It's catch-22 isn't it? How do you know if he's ready if you don't try it?

He is happy to handle food, he puts it to his mouth etc but isn't ready to actually eat it. From what I have read it will be a while before he can actually 'eat' so for the time being I go on his signals. If he is watching me, seems really interested etc then I try to involve him. If not then I leave him to it!

He tries to put everything to his mouth at the moment BUT for the most part he just looks at / handles the food? So nope he's not eaten pasta, spaghetti or green beans - just had a little play with them! Sorry if that was unclear...

I do the same carnat, I mash some veg up and leave it on his tray. He has a play and tastes it but I doubt any of it goes down! I just like being able to get him used to the fact not everything tastes like formula. I think it will make weaning easier in the long run when I get stuck in at 6 months xxx

Hello yummy mummies!!
We are finally back home :)
Had a lovely 2 weeks with oh being off but can't wait to wave him back to work on Monday hehe
Came home to a very chilly house so the heating is cranked up, poor M has 3 blankets on to make sure she's warm enough.
Can't wait to jump into bed these past 24 hours are exhausting.

I am starting M on baby porridge on Monday just a little at a time and maybe some pear or carrot puréed down. I think she is more than ready for weaning now :) I'm not sure BLW and me will get on as I am terrified she will choke! Going to order the book that Nat has recommended though and try and brave it :)

xx

James had a play with some Rigatoni last night.

He was just holding it until OH showed him how to put it to his mouth and then he was trying to stick the whole thing in

Mrsw, I would def read the book. It explains the reasons why they cannot choke (their gag reflex is much more towards the front of their mouth when they are this young so they gag long before anything gets to their airway)

It is still scary though and I am undecided.

The difference between handing James a chunk of banana and sterlising bowl, spook, fork and mushing banana for him speaks for itself. BLW is so much easier!

Don't know if it is because Lyla isn't well but!

Last night she went to bed at 8pm and didn't wake again until 8:30am!!!!

It's the first night she has ever Slept through and the first night since she has been born that I haven't had to wake up at least once and feed her so I got my first uninterrupted sleep in 4 months!

Here's hoping it wasn't a one off just because she's not well!

Yay - let's hope it wasn't just her being poorly hun!

Hope you feel nice and refreshed (although if you are anything like me you were probably awake at 6am wondering why she wasn't awake LOL)

xxxxxxxx

I woke at half 7 and whispered to OH that she hasn't woken since 8pm and he whispered back "is she ok?"

Oh my mummies :(

For the last 2 night Adthur has been a sod, wanting to feed every 2hrs or just very fussy and wants to lay next to me in bed and not in his cot, wants to sooth alot i looked on the wonder weeks and hes in a leap which would explain it but this one is hard, me n his daddy could string him out on the washing line thats how bad hes been :(

On the plus side heswoke up and hes developed from laying on his side to fully rolling onto his tummy and pulling him arm out from under him, where did that come from?? Lol

Aww well done lyla on sleeping through, xx

Well done Arthur on rolling over! I think Lyla is coming out of that leap Amanda, she was terrible. Really really moany all the time!

So apparently, Sleeping through makes you even more sleepy!

She still uses her moses basket for naps downstairs but not for much longer!

Bloody horrible leap hun, only 6days to go of it lol, hes just a sod at night, good as gold in the day but its when it comes to sleep and his cot, i cant even rock him to sleep no more :( xxxx

Lyla sure is growing out of her basket LOL!!!

I've just realised James is almost the length of his crib now... Cot-bed is coming from my parents very soon!

Well done Arthur, James cannot move that arm and he gets stuck

He'll happily lay like this for ages

 That's so cute Nat!

Lyla won't roll onto her front she hates being on her belly! But she has rolled front to back. Just purely because she hates being like that  little madam!

xx

Wow look at these rolling babies!!
Nat James looks like he's ready to go :) forgot to say take It easy with the exercise don't be doing yourself damage. I seen you had hurt yourself. I look forward to Monday when ill be getting my bum in gear :)

Can your babies have a word with M to get bum shifting!?

Chloe yay to sleeping through :) it's a shock when you wake up and see the time.

Wilson..we are gearing up for the next leap in a few days hopefully we will get through it quickly :) x

M had a good sleep only waking once in the night at 4am which was nice and she slept in till 10am!

Haven't read that one Nat, I was going to ask if it was any good then remembered you haven't read it lol. I just like them for the recipes, there are some yummy broccoli and tomato muffins I want to make when C is older that are suitable for freezing too (thank God I have two freezers lol. One is full to bursting if frozen breast milk tho!)

Amanda this leap is so hard isn't it, C wouldn't sleep for hours last night then woke every 2 hours wanting to talk to her Eeyore toy lol. She also won't self settle often now, and needs to be fed or cuddled to sleep. Hopefully it will pass soon though, OH and I take it in turns so at least I get more than 4 hours sleep every other night lol. She had him up from 4am the other night as she just wouldn't go back to sleep xx

Mrsw - C won't roll at all either. She has got into her side from her front a few times (mainly during nappy off time, then she pees all over the carpet after managing to miss the mat lol) xx
