**** November 2012 Mummies **** (everyone welcome)

Nat - doidy cups are cups with slanted tops so that children can see into them as they tip them up, makes learning to drink easier. You can get them on amazon.

Wilson, yes I can't wait for aus. We had to cancel going out twice, once because we had a trip planned almost exactly for my nephews due date and once because I was pregnant and told not to fly. So I haven't seen my brother or his family for over 3 years and I haven't met my nephew at all. I also LOVE Sydney, if I were to live anywhere other than where I do (which I also love) it would be there.

Nat thank you for the link to the book! Ill be sure to buy it!
I'm going for purée for a couple weeks then introduce the more solid food ;) I'm really excited to try m on new things.
La..have you decided in a stroller to take out to oz with you?
Oh and I would love to move over there in the future, it's our "big dream" ;)

We've had a cracking time at home in Scotland, busy seeing family and shopping! We have an amazing shopping centre here so I just raid the place everytime I'm home! Lol
Lady M has been spoiled with lots of cuddles from aunties, uncles, great grand parents, grand parents! She is such a lucky lady to have an amazing family. We have seen a new housing development being built near the inlaws so we have our eye on these for moving home in the next couple years!! Woooo!! x
xx

Just a quick update! Back home tomorrow from the in laws so will be able to chat more. Been here for 11 days now!!

Lyla rolled over for the first time front to back on Friday! I was so proud of her because I know she hates tummy time. She has also had bits of banana to hold and some banana puree for the past two mornings. Just a little to try her because she watches us eat like a hawk and pulls everything to her mouth, chews my hand and hers. She loves it! Opens her mouth for the spoon and everything and chews on the banana piece. Not properly weaning her yet but shes definitely ready. Going to hold off a few more weeks till I start properly.

Lyla is officially 4 months old today! Times going too quickly!

Wow L_a, you must be so very excited. Seeing your bro after all that time and meeting your nephew.

Take lots of pics (even though I know you don't post pic's here!)

Chloe, your Lyla is adorable... and the cat looks so docile. My Amber is still very edgy around James - she'll have a sniff when he is asleep but when he is awake she stays away

Mrsw, you have been so busy - you deserve a holiday LOL!

As well as the yoghurt I gave James a few green beans to 'play with' whilst we had dinner. At first he was just holding them but once we took his dummy out he was putting them up to his mouth and licking them. I am so impressed and think he is def getting ready to start weaning.

I may let him hold some banana tomorrow and we're having pasta for dinner so he can have a play with that as well. I am very careful to watch him closely - as is OH - but the whole premise of BLW is they won't do anything before they are ready. It is such a gradual process and it will be a while before they go from handling food / having a lick to actually eating it.

It takes ages before they can actually process food, for the first few months they just get used to the feelings, smells, textures etc...

Simba is a big softy Nat. He will come over and let Lyla pet him. Doesn't care who it is as long as he's getting attention!

I'm liking your food updates - it's given me confidence to give J food to play with. Today he had a chip to handle (a cooled fry with the salt sucked off) he didn't really even play with it but he looked at it a bit. He's definitely after my drinks though.

Mrswoody, I've got a maclaren XT techno. I saw it in mothercare a couple of weeks ago on offer and then with a further 15% off. A quick check online confirmed it was a good price so we went ahead. It's not the lightest maclaren, but TBH I can see me using it every day so it needed to be sturdy. I can lift it with one hand, so that's fine. It's a wonderful piece of engineering, works so much better than my Vista and folds so easy into the boot, that I've been using it since. I feel my LO is a little young for world facing, but he seems to like it after the first trip out where he was a bit uneasy.

A few years ago I would have jumped at the chance of moving out there, in fact if I hadn't met DH 7 years ago I probably would be, I was looking into it at the time. Unfortunately the exchange rate changes have meant that now it's not nearly as attractive and their standard of living has gone down a little. Still a great country though.

James slept 8.30pm to 7.30am. He was a little restless about 3am but other than that it was the best night he's had in weeks.

However I couldn't sleep with OH's snoring and the bloody cat deciding to play silly buggers at about 5am.

I think we're off out for lunch today so despite being in agony from yesterday I am just about to do another work out!

You're so lucky James is a good sleeper Nat! Everyone says Lyla is but she still wakes twice a night for feeding.

Goes to bed at 7:30pm with 5-6oz, 4oz at 11pm, 4oz at 3am wakes at 7-7:30am for the day. She gets restless after her second feed though so I am popping dummy back in every hour or so until she's up for the day :(

Still no sign of sleeping through!

Happy holidays mrsw, hope you have a lovely time in Cyprus!

Baby is fast asleep, cat is also fast asleep  so I am going to join them.

Night night ladies

Night Nat!

Aela's asleep and so's my stepdaughter but I don't wanna go to bed till OH is home from work so I am trawling the internet for a playhouse and drinking a strawberry and banana smoothie!xx

Hello mummies,
I've been pretty AWOL from here whilst at home. We are in the hotel and off to bed soon as its an early start tomorrow, 4am infact :wall2:
Ms sleeping is all over the place, sometimes she wakes at once sometimes upto three times! she has come on leaps in the past few weeks, she has now found her voice and loves a good squeal! Infact it's her wake up call to us at 8am

Nat..nighty night. I'll try and bring some sun back with me :)

xx

Morning Mummies,

I hope we are all well today.

James is 20 weeks old today?? I stopped counting in weeks a while back actually so had to work it out LOL.

I am going to book a Dr's appointment today as James' cradle cap is back but he seems to have eczema and had a reaction to some cream at the weekend.

He is fine, I have stopped bathing him everyday and now use just water.

I also need to see Dr as 3 of my fingernails have been discoloured since I had James? I thought they were bruised (in labour I had to have bars attached the bed and I must have had my hands locked around them for hours??) I've googled it :wall2: so best to get it checked out by GP

Morning everyone

I don't feel too good today. I only had a couple of glasses of wine last night (and it was white) so I don't think it can be that, but I have a headache and feel very sluggish. I didn't sleep well (J slept through except a dummy replacement at 5am) but I couldn't get back to sleep, so it might be that.

Nat - I thought J might have mild eczema and posted a thread on here. Someone recommended Aveno (the oatmeal one) and coincidentally my friend did too, so I tried it and Js skin is nearly back to normal. As you said I've stopped using the stuff in the bath too, just use a squirt evert few days now. According to my colleagues, aveno is now one of the things recommended for eczema - there was a lot of scepticism at first because it was seen as just a body cream and how could it be as good as the prescription creams, but apparently it's proved to be very good. Certainly worth trying.

No idea abiut your fingernails! Did you come up with anything googling? I can't imagine what pregnancy related thing could cause that if it isn't simple bruising!

Hope you all have a good day xxx

We're in today but I'll pick up some cream tomorrow - can I get it anywhere?

No idea about fingernails? Googling suggest everything from a diet to cancer

The NHS website does say that pregnancy can cause discoloured fingernails but it didn't say how or why!

For me it was after delivery, I used my arms a lot in labour (I could barely lift my arms for weeks after) so now I'm thinking I'd been gripping so hard whilst I was pushing I've burst some blood vessels under my nails or something? To be honest I didn't notice them to begin with and when I did I just thought my nails would grow and it would be fine.

It is disgusting, looks like the worst nicotine staining! It's only 3 nails though.

My MIL is a nurse and she was stumped as well

xxxxxxxx

You'll get it in any large pharmacy, boots etc i would think. I got mine in boots. Make sure you get the oatmeal one xxx

Thanks L_a, I'll go on the hunt for it tomorrow!

xxxxxxxxxx

There wasn't much choice in Boots but I got the 'Daily moisturising lotion with colloidal oatmeal'

Hi girls,

Nat have u got any e45 or diprobase cream? They are both good when you wash skin in water with them.

We have got arthurs christening outfit, also been shopping to leeds today and OMG i could have pulled my hair out talk about sardine in a tin :/

Xx

James has a reaction to Oilatum hun, it is similar to e45 so we're actually seeing Dr next week.

I've tried this new cream on his legs and back for the time being.

Getting ready to meet a friend and I am stupid excited to be going out (albeit to the pub across the road LOL)
