***** May 2015 Mummies to be *****

Its hard as I don't want to "scrimp" on mattresses either Ive seen more which are cheaper but then are just plain foam nothing else?! Decisions!

Would you scrimp on your beds mattress? Think of the value of a comfy bed, a good nights sleep, proper support when lying down...it's one of those things where I'd buy the best I could afford.

This is exactly my thinking ours is a really nice one would hate the cheapest one!! I like it has the coolamx and antibacterial/anti dust mite etc parts to it too. So think we have decided on the expensive one at long last I couldnt let her be uncomfy etc :)

Thanks ladies

Hello ladies. Looks like everyone had had a busy day :)

We went shopping for baby bits today. Got more clothes, nappies, wipes etc.

Also bought a crib mattress! Paid £35 for ours from Mothercare. Agree about not scrimping :)

By the way, had anyone bought newborn clothes from Mothercare? We've got loads of stuff for "newborn", and it's upto "10 lb". All the baby grows seem massive in comparison to some vests we got from asda.

I've bought tiny baby from mothercare as expecting babies to be around 5-6lb and I found they seem smaller than other places although my mum has bought me a newborn starter set from m and s and it's slightly smaller than the mothercare tiny baby. I'll be honest with my son we had a lot of second hand clothes from a variety of places and the best for fit were asda and primark, he was a bigger baby though at 8lb 15.5 oz so don't know if that was the case. He fit straight into a newborn asda sleep suit at birth but the day after at home he wore a 0-3 primark so they do vary a little bit.
Sephorah glad your feeling better! Like I said I had it twice this week but a bath seemed to get rid of it. So if it happens again I will try a bath again.

I woke up this morning with really swollen hands. Been suffering in the night tge past few weeks of my hands going numb and waking me up with pain but it's usually fine by morning but my right hand has stayed swollen around my thumb and wrist, im still thinking it is carpel tunnel but I think I might mention it to my consultant at my next appointment.

Sounds like everyone has had busy days today. Glad everyone's well xxx

Most cribs that come with matresses are just the basic foam ones (this is what Ollie had). Which is still in very good condition with not a single dent in it, babies are so light and they're hardly in it for long that it supports them well (ollie only lasted 3 months in his).

Regarding clothes you'll find they vary even when they say "up to 10lb" you'd probably get use out of it up to 11lb.
Ollie was 9lb born and still fitted in a tiny baby one (7lb I think)

So far I've bought packs of clothes in the sales from Tesco, asda and matalan. I only have 5/6 vests and 5/6 sleep suits in newborn (says upto 9/10lbs) and the two packs cost me less than £10 total. The rest is in 0-3. I figured I'd rather send hubby out for a few more packs of small clothes if we need them, than buy them now and they go to waste. They will either start close to 0-3, or grow into them, so they won't be wasted.

Oh Caseysmummt, have that checked out. Sounds painful.

We bought our crib at an NCT sale, and it came with a mattress which is still in packaging (brand new). But I decided not to use that one just in case.

Re clothes. We've got a selection of makes. And they all vary. Some stuff even says 0-5 months, which is useless. We didn't bother buying tiny baby clothes, but I might exchange a few sets for a smaller size.

Also, do you guys use nonbio for washing?

I've been stocking up on non-bio when it's on offer Bigbee.

I've bought most of my baby clothes in the sales too. I've got Asda, Tesco and Next bits mainly. The Next babygrows look really narrow in the body though, so if she's chunky I don't think they'll last long. I've got a few bits in every size up up to 9 months I think lol.

It's a lovely sunny morning here and I am hoping it'll stay like it, so I've just been though all her clothes and taken the labels off. It's all in the wash now and will be up on the line later!

Yep non bio here too, it's gentler on their skin.
I washed all the clothes yesterday though I've been going to these NCT sales and think I've over done it. I also bought clothes up to 9 months as everything was so cheap and I like to have the next size up washed and bagged ready for when baby is growing out of the current size but I did 7 washes of baby clothes yesterday! My washing line looked super cute but I know the reality is he won't wear everything whih is a shame. Still I'd like one more after this one and my brother and partner want kids in the next few years so I'm sure thy will be used at some point.

So I have a million tiny piles of clothes today to put in to siEs and either put in the wardrobe or bag up and put away for a while. What's everyone else doing today?

7 washes?! I thought I'd got too much stuff, but I've done one wash, got one on at the mo and probably have enough to do more.

There was an NCT sale here last week which I wanted to go too, but thought I had eveything anyway so I'd have just ended up buying stuff I didn't really need.

Yea we went a bit mad! thought the washes did include anything baby related, towels, bedding etcf. But yea still a little excessive I know! I didn't realise how much was there until we started washing!

Morning ladies :)

I've still to.sort and wash all her things either that we have bought or been given. I got 4 massive storage bags of clothes from our friend which gorgeous things for her all up to a year!! Theres clothes everywhere haha

Oh good it's not just me then lol.

Random question of the day, who's got leaky boobs already?

If I poke them and squeeze them a few drops come out, they don't leak freely on their own though.

I've got a fair few clothes for them but some stuff was left over from my son and is all neutral and is being stored at my dad's ( 2 large drawers) but think it's a variety starting at 0-3 and goes to either 9 or 12 months which reminds me I need to pick up all of the 0-3 and 3-6 to re wash and bring here to put in their drawers. My mum asked my aunt and she gave me a bin big of girls clothes up to 12 months and my sister went crazy when her little girl was little and bought lots of second hand which shed given me up to 2 years I think. But I don't think even with twins their going to wear it all which is a shame as I think these will be the last babies born into either side of the family aa all our siblings have all done having children and I don't think we will have anymore.

Do you ladies think it's worth booking in with my gp about my hand, I've woken up this morning to it being really swelled and numb again and hardly able to use my thumb. There's nota lot they can do is there?
Xxx

Caseysmummy, I'd go to see a doctor if I were you... Better safe than sorry :)

Yeah im going to try and get an appointment for tomorrow I think. I need to go about another thing anyways. It's eased off slightly since I've been up but still tender. Going to ask if she can refer me to physio too so I could possibly get some crutches as walking is getting more painful by the day! Im looking forward to babies coming now, I honestly didn't realise how hard it was going to get towards the end, I feel so lucky my last pregnancy was so easy now! ( although at the time it didn't feel it lol) xxx

I was inspired by the earlier washing talk and now have a massive tub of fairy non bio as I saw it was on offer in tesco :)

Definitely get that checked out casesymummy sounds horrible :(

Well my body finally allowed me a day where I can breathe enough to get on with nesting! Sorted through all her clothes into ages etc and got 3 boxes of newborn/0-3 ready for washing and the rest in vacum packs stored for when needed. Got all the chores done in the house, done the food shop and now finally sitting down! Phew!!
