*** march 2015 mummys to be ***

SpinSugar, sorry if it's a daft question, but you do know how to do it, right (I'm pretty sure you would, as this is not your first lo, but just in case)? Just squeezing the nipples wouldn't work for me, I need to squeeze in a special way :)

In any case, I don't think it's anything to worry about. Hopefully your milk will come when the time comes! X

Ladies, I have a question. I just read through GD symptoms and I have pretty much all of them, apart from blurred vision. They all sound like normal pregnancy symptoms really, apart from dry mouth and constant thirst, which I definitely have. I will be seeing my mw on Tuesday and will mention it to her, but I'm wondering if it's too late to test now anyway? I'm 34+1, by the time they will arrange the test I probably will be full term anyway? What do you think?...

I'm not in any risk groups btw. Not overweight, nobody with diabetes in the family, white European...

If it makes you ladies feel better about your OH's being crappy with Valentine's day, my OH just sneezed on me! It's a good job I found it funny lol.
Olya I'm not sure if they would do a typical GTT or maybe just a finger prick test but definitely mention it to your midwife when you see her. Xxx

SpinSugar: It didn't work for me the first time I tried. Have a Google, and keep trying. :)

Definitely worth mentioning to your midwife Olya! Even if it's just so you know what's going on with your body. Xx

Yep definitely worth mentioning. My sister was diagnosed at 36 weeks and had to be monitored for the rest of her pregnancy. :)

Thanks girls. I will definitely mention it.

Podpie do you mind me asking how they were monitoring your sister? With just occasional blood tests/scans or did she actually have to stay in the hospital?

Lanny can a finger prick test show it? I thought it had to be a GTT (if it can be done with a blood test, do you know why they would bother with GTT?)

I'm not that sure if I'm honest, I just wondered if they might do a finger prick and if your blood sugar is high then they might do the GTT? I think if you do have GD they will get you to monitor it at home with a blood sugar machine and discuss your readings at your appointments :) xxx

She was given a blood sugar testing kit and had to test first thing in the morning and after every meal and write it all down in a booklet, then saw the diabetes team weekly to make sure her results were within the acceptable limits. Luckily she managed to control it with diet and had no other complications. She didn't need to stay in the hospital at all, was just given a lot of advice on what food and drink to avoid to make sure it was under control. :) Hope this helps!

Good luck Chrissie! x

Has anyone got a appointment at the hospital already for when they go overdue? I got a date that I have to go in on 11th march when I will be 40+5 days?? I'm not sure what it's for ?? It got booked when I was at my 12 week scan.

I won't get an appointment for at the hospital until my 41 week appointment, and then it would be to get induced, so potentially 40+12 xx

My midwife made me an appointment with her for a week overdue to give me a sweep if I am still waiting for baby at that point! They wouldn't induce me until 12 days over so I expect that appointment will be made when the time comes (fingers crossed I don't need it).

My midwife said when I saw her on Thurs that if I get to 41 weeks they will book me for induction at the hospital... What does that mean?! Lol I really need to google up on these things. I'm really hoping he will be early. I am feeling like a heffalump right now xx

You'll see your midwife, probably on your due date, then again at 41 weeks. If you get that far without baby appearing, your midwife will phone your local hospital to arrange a day for you to be induced - usually between 10 - 14 days overdue xx

Yikes! It's all so scary.... and so close! I am really feeling heavy down there when I walk now. I am also feeling like the most unfit pregnant woman ever!! Just can't wait for it all to happen now. The February list is getting there. I wonder who will be next on here :) xx

I'm so tired this time round compared to my first baby. I struggle getting up off the sofa I ache so much, and God forbid I should try and take a bath when I'm in on my own. Xx

Aww man! I just got stuck, under my bed! Why does nesting always kick in at stupid o'clock?! Three bags for charity, one massive bin bag, and two boxes in the loft later!!! Maybe I'll be able to sleep now... Xx

Thanks Lanny and Podpie! I am so clueless about these things!

I'm also much more tired this time around, and am feeling more awkward. First time I really missed being preggers after I gave birth. This time I doubt I will!!

Morning ladies :)

I.Love I would just go and ask your midwife to do a finger prick check, or if she doesn't feel its necessary i think you can go and be tested in a chemist. Just be aware that the levels for a pregnant woman are LESS than what is needed for a normal person to pass the diabetes test. So for example whilst a reading of 8 is fine for a non pregnant person, it would be classed as high for someone who is pregnant. Also there are two sets of results to test-fasting (say first thing in morning before you have eaten) and after food.

Ref the symptoms, yes they are very much like normal pregnancy symptoms. I have the GD and get thirsty alot and also dont seem to wee it all out compared to what I drink (guess this is where the extra amniotic fluid can come from). Aside from that I dont have any other symptoms. xx

Good morning ladies. Hope your all well. How are gf and Rhondalou doing today and overnight? Hope your bearing up ok?

I had a good nights sleep, done some online shopping this morning? Still in my pjs!
