**** June & July 2013 Mummies and Babies ****

I haven't noticed any change with Olly by putting him on cows milk. We initially started by giving him formula before bed and cows milk on a morning, we did this for 1 week (until our tub ran out) thengave him cows milk before bed too. He wont drink it from the fridge so I have to take the chill off it in the microwave for 20 seconds. At first his poo's were a bit different but now he has settled back. I have noticed he does drink more than he did formula - he wouldn't drink anymore than 6oz before bed and 7oz on a morning and I am now just filling the bottle and letting him have it and he is drinking the full 9oz each time.

xx

We are still on morning and night bottles (6oz each) and she seems content with this! I'm not in any rush for her to drop her morning to be honest I think milk is so good for her and she's a small kid so needs her fat!!

I've not noticed any change in sleep since changing over which is good!

Hope your lo has no trouble on it - I'm sure they'll be great! Xx

I put Matthew on to cows milk right at 12 months. Dropped his morning bottle at the same time cos he wasn't that interested in it and I feel he eats his lunch better without it. So he's on one bottle now, at night time, 8oz of cow's milk. Baby giz no constipation here. My lo drinks a lot of water and has a lot of fruit so no issues fx it stays that way. Has a dirty nappy 2-3 times a day.

Cupcake I've found his sleeping a bit hit and miss lately but I would say he's definitely not hungry during the night. I'm going to keep giving him his nighttime bottle til he's at least 18 months, as he's not great at drinking milk in a cup during the day so at least it's 8oz I know he's getting xx

Thanks Kay kay, he drinks loads of water but I think my problem is that his favourite fruit is banana which I've been reading bungs them up! Might have to a change of snack

Anyone got any tips on how to get lo to stop going into tippy toes when standing/cruising?

Rosie has only the past month been pulling herself up to standing and half the time goes flat footed but when cruising she ALWAYS goes into toes! X

I bought rains for Olly. The lady in clarks told me when walking with him not to hold his hands up, to try and keep them down by his hips. Funny tho because now Olly is walking on his own great he still walks with his hands up like dh is holding a trophy but his feet are flat on the ground now

Xx

How on earth do you manage to hold their hand and walk like that?! Without giving yourself and really bad back or crawling next to them!! Josh isn't quite independently walking and now just holds one hand with the other up in the air like he wants it held but when you try to he snatches it away!!

No idea how to encourage flat footed walking - sorry.

xx

Hey holi I'm not sure about the tippy toes thing either sorry. Think it's quite common though and they grow out of it. Although I still do it myself when I walk about barefoot  x

I know, I didn't understand how she ment. I mean I'm not a giant but it would give me a bad back. That's why I got rains and dhe eventually learnt on his own. Defo a thing most babies do tho, all my friends kids the same age do it too.

xx

Thanks everyone - didn't think there was much I could do but health visitor has hold me to 'keep an eye on it'!! The standard unhelpful comment I get from them! X

Don't you love HV's!! I've lost count of the times I've come out of appointments with them and descended into a spiral of worry about things that amount to nothing!! Last time they said they'd keep an eye on Josh as he wasn't walking - that was at his 12mth check!! x

CR is now over 14 months and still no word on a 12 month check.
They definitely do them in our area.
I'm not particularly bothered as I'm very happy and have no concerns but just wondered, is anybody else still waiting?

We had a letter when he was 11.5months.

But my friend in the other side of cardiff had to call to book hers, her surgery dont issue letters!

So worth a call just incase they require you to make the appointment. Tbh the visit was over within 5mins! Xx

Ive not had one nor heard anything about one. In honesty they sound pointless so I wont persue one. I have no concerns or want to be given any by a health visitor. It appears that is all HV in my area do. So far out of those who have gone for one in my area every one has come away worrying about something. Most worries complete contractions to each other. I am a firm believer in babies and children being individual and they develop and do things in their own time. Somr are super quick and some slower. A mums instinct on whether there is a worry is the best one. A HV goes by a one bokk and chart fits all.

Hi ladies hope your all well! Just wondered how your all getting on?? Rosie's doing well although we got 3 teeth in 1 week! That was hard going!

What are your lo eating like?? I'm concerned Rosie's not eating enough and that we have only just got on to 10 month + jars as she struggles with lumps - I'm desperate to get her on our normal meals - any advice??

6am/7am - 7oz milk

8am - cereal (porridge/rice crispies) and toast

12:30pm - 125g 10m+ jar, fruit pot, yoghurt and ritz buscuits

4:30pm - 7oz milk

5:30 - 125g 10m+ jar, bread sticks, 100g pudding jar

Sound ok to you lot?? Not enough? Not had her weighed in a while but she seems fine and sleeping through xxxx

Some days my lo will only eat tiny portions others she will have loads and still want more, she soon lets me know when she would like second helpings!

We still use jars when I'm busy or out but other than that she usually has what we have

Holi that seems ok! If shes not intrested in eating muh more im sure shes not going hungry.

Noah has his 3 meals plus a snack about 9.30am and 2.30pm before he goes down for naps. Still has his morning & night bottles aswell.
But hes teething atm, this weekend he hasnt eaten much at all.

We haven't used jars for a gd few months now.

Might be best to try with soft boiled veg.
Noah loves vegi/chicken/fish fingers, asda also do chosen by kids frozen range of like potato stars/waffles and these r always a winner.
He was bad for finger foods for months but fone on jars.. And i just stopped buying them and one day he just grabbed a sausage off my plate and started munching it! Hes been fine since..
Shell get there hun xx

Holi that sounds fine to me and if she's fine in herself and sleeping well she's obviously getting enough. It takes some babies a while to adjust to normal food so try and not worry. Maybe try dropping her 4.30 bottle and see if she has more of an appetite for dinner. Would she eat an omelette? It's quite soft and easy to chew. Sweet potato wedges are Matthew's favourite, he has them several times a week. Easy to make too. The other one he loved early on (still does) is macaroni cheese. He shovels it in. Again it's nice and soft to eat. She will get there, sounds like she's doing great.

On another note another July mummy Kate Middleton is preggers again! I dunno why but I'm kinda shocked lol. Feels like I should be too since she went through pregnancy same time as me last year. But I'm very glad I'm not. Just about keeping up with my wee rascal, would struggle with another. But good on her. Shame she's apparently got hg again which must be so horrible
