We do BLW. She has bite sized shredded wheat with fruit or porridge fingers, grated apple, sultanas and cinnamon or occasionally pancakes. For lunch she loves pizza toast or sardines on toast and sometimes bread and cheese and she now manages a whole clementine which are her favourite at the moment. As well as blueberries but i do squish them as they are quite small and slippery. For dinner I do whatever we are having, from scratch with no added salt. Things like lasagne, omelette, lemon chicken. She eats most vegetables. I also give her rice pudding, yoghurt and jelly as she practices with a spoon. I've never puréed anything, though she has mashed potato if we have it.
It was slow at the start and it's still extremely messy, but it's been really successful. She's gagged on a few things and I still watch her like a hawk but I've been reassured by researching BLW and researching the gag reflex as it is very far forward and does a great job protecting them. As somebody has pointed out already, if they are making a noise they are not choking. Dh did a baby first aid course and I'm hoping to attend one soon.
