KHTW tomorrow will go so slow for you but 2 days!!! Edit: oh I asked where my placenta was at the scan because I was anterior with dd. She told me it's high and at the back. So if you want to know ask on Saturday Xx

PB haha nice and blunt there hun! But it just shows you doesn't it? I was so ill with this one, with the nausea, sickness still every so often, and the hives. I swore it was a boy.

I feel so much more already than with dd. Though she was anterior. Maybe it's because it's our second ones?? But it's so true when they say every pregnancy is different xx

Definitely agree that every pregnancy is different.

I don't tend to listen to old wives tales, but like to see if they end up being right for people or not.

I am not swaying either way with mine and I'm not going to be guessing either. Once I see a little willy or not and am told by the sonographer, then I will be convinced either way lol.

Just thought it would be fun to find out everyone's experiences with heartbeat to see if the tale is right or not

Gotta say I don't have a bloody clue what I'm looking at in either of your potty shots haha

I have a friend who was told she was having a boy. Few weeks later went to 20 weeks scan and turns out she's having a girl ahaahaha she was a girl. She bought so much blue stuff.
I'm pretty sure mines a boy though.
Jem the white hand is pointing at the penis lol

Yeah my work colleague said her daughter was told a girl at her 12 week scan (WTF too early) then 20 week scan definitely a boy!

Yeah I can see it now lol, definite boy there :)

OHs cousin had a 16 week and was told boy. At her 20 week NHS they told her it was a girl. It was the umbilical cord that they thought was a penis. Her daughter had a baby blue pram haha xx

Ohhhh I'll get it confirmed at my 20 weeks scan now. Hope still a boy spent 200 quid on clothes yday ahahaha.
But hes having a purple pram, couldn't pass on that deal. Ahah

We haven't told anyone until our 20 week. Just incase. It will probably be the same woman from babybond ffs. Same though I've went a little mad on clothes etc because the sales! Give him a blue pram blanket he'll be fine lol xx

Well my dd will be in it aswell it's only the hoods that are purple. It's a baby jogger city select. I love it lol.

Ohhh imagine if someone on here has got the wrong gender. Ill never have early scan again lol

I think gender scan at 18 weeks is pretty safe and small risk of being told wrong gender. But yeah I can't see nothing on the potty shots at Shan's scan!!! BP's however is clearly a boy ahaha!

I am dying to buy baby clothes. I bet tomorrow will be the longest day and it doesn't help that scan is not until 4pm!!

Re. symptoms in pregnancy we will see if again it is all nonsense, this pregnancy has been identical to my 1st one x

Can anyone tell me what normally happens at your 16 weeks? Haha xx

I got talked through a lot, handed in a urine sample, blood pressure taken and chat about what to expect in this trimester. I did get to listen to babies heartbeat but apparently that's not always done.

When is your appointment?

It's on monday. I heard the heartbeat at the 12 week so I'm not too worried about whether they let me hear it on monday but it would be reassuring for them to check its still going strong haha my husband can't make it this monday so at least he's not really missing anything xx

I'll do my quick rant here and you can all ignore if you like haha.

So when I applied for this job (medical secretary), I applied for 3 others jobs at the time. I had just moved further away from my current place of work so needed somewhere closer to home. I loved my old job but the travelling was too much.

Anyway, I must have an impressive CV and interview skills as I got all 3 of the jobs I went for. I then had to weigh up the best options for me. I picked this job because they understood my ambition and the fact that I wanted to climb the career ladder into a GP Practice Manager or similar role and not just be a secretary forever. I have a very ambitious mind and I hate to be stuck doing the same thing for too long. They understood that and played on that.

I took the job here because I was offered that after 6 months to a year they would review my job and start training me up to be Practice Manager, well take off some of the workload from the current Practice Manager, therefore giving me vital experience to eventually take on the job, or go somewhere else where that job is advertised. They also said they would review my pay every 6 months. I thought, wow this is amazing, they are going to actually help me get my foot in the door.

Today, I come into work and I'm told by my colleague (she's lovely and more than aware of my ambitions). That she has out of the blue been offered a desk in the managers office, with more pay and to take on some of the Practice Manager's workload ... Hold on a second, isn't that exactly what I was offered when I took the job?! Isn't that the exact reason why I took the job here and not the other 2?? Hmmm... THINK SO!!!

My colleague said she wasn't really given much choice, she doesn't wanna sit in the manger's office or take on the extra stress (she is 57 and wants an easy work life I think). But the extra money would help her. She said sorry to me because she knew that's the exact reason why I came here and there's been no secret about that. She also said that nobody else knows this and she's told me out of courtesy, but it is a secret at the moment.

So I can't help but think that because I'm going maternity leave, they have decided to give that job to someone else. When I was promised that when I came to work here. I haven't got it in writing, have checked over my contract. In my contract also it says a yearly pay review!!! I'm so angry!! You don't realise discrepancies in your contract until you need the information!

I will NOT be coming back here after my maternity leave. I am happy to sit in Tesco for a while (done it before and actually loved it) for the money after my maternity pay is up, until a job comes up that I want.

Everything I joined this place for has been a lie. I thought I was an NHS employee, hence why I moved here whilst TTC because I thought I'd get the NHS Maternity Pay - turns out I don't. I came here on the promise of furthering my career and now I'm pregnant this has been given to someone else.

I hate this place, I am so angry and I can't even say anything yet because I'm not even supposed to know!!!

OH is actually on board and told me I'm not coming back here after maternity because they've shown me no loyalty and their word means nothing. "fuck them" so he says. So I will literally fuck them and their stupid fucking job, when I pretend I'm coming back and then hand my notice in.

Sorry, I'm so so so sorry that I keep bringing shit on here. But you're all so helpful and I feel much better having just typed it out.

x

I just rage-read this! That is completely unfair PLUS they are obviously sneakey and manipulative to get what they want. They paid you lip service to get you to accept the job then just didn't come through on that!

Also if they've bypassed you because you are going on maternity doesnt that fall into some kinda of pregnancy discrimination? I'm sure I read something about that. They can't hold you back because of it or because of an anticipation of you becoming pregnant (if you weren't already).

I'm really angry for you! They can go fuck themselves, I'm really glad your OH is totally on board and supporting you in this! xxxx

Can I ask a random question for those of you who already have had a baby before? I have bought the tommee tippee steriliser set which came with bottles, and also their perfect prep comes with a bottle.

So this means I have 5 x 5oz bottles and 4 x 9oz bottles.

Stupid question but without spending every living moment cleaning and sterilising bottles, how many bottles per day do you go through?

xxx

Once you sterilize your bottles you can only keep them for a certain amount of time before you have to sterilize again. I think the bottles you have will do you fine, you can only put 6 at a time anyway? x

We use 6-7 now. But formula only lasts 2 hours when made. New borns need feeding every 2-4 hours. We was going through ALOT, I would buy another 6 9oz ones. Asda has them on sale atm :) x

Khtw, I think they last 12 hours, I usually wash all mime at once and put them in a box ready for steaming so they're always ready. I wish I had more but hubby won't let me. We have 15 bottles atm.
We have old ones ready for new born cos dd has special formula and the milk is too think for the slow flow which comes with every bottle.

I think I want to buy at least one anti-colic one. Also I don't want to buy way too many of the same brand as my friend had a baby who literally hated the bottles she had bought so she had to go buy all new ones- I don't know if that was just a particularly fussy baby or if that happens a lot haha

Was thinking Dr Brown anti-colic one or should I stick to the tommee tippee anti-colic one? xxx
