****July 2018 Mummies - Tri 2****

Laura I'm with you, I honestly don't have a clue. I keep thinking I'm gonna do everything wrong and will probably freak out when baby is here as no idea how to even hold one properly!!

haha it's so strange but holding your own baby is really easy. I held my 5 week old niece at the weekend and was fumbling about so much in a panic and I've had plenty of practice

my panic is "what if baby's a boy, I've no idea how to deal with willys" haha

sorry you're in a grump shanivy. have you been getting plenty of sleep/rest? and sorry about your gaviscon bottle. my reflux is bad tonight, ranitidine and gaviscon and it's still burning up my throat

It's true with holding your own, i hates holding other peoples babies still do tbf, just like what if I break them aha. But with dd I just knew what to do. Weird. Instinct takes over.
Haha baby was taken away when she was born because me and the blood loss stuff so when I was finally OK I asked hubby to pass her to me and he was like nooo... He didn't wanna hold her cos she was too tiny awhh. Midwife passed her to me then.

Shepherdess Lol thanks yes think I've had enough rest etc I'm just a bitch today. Ignore me. I feel you with the acid reflux, literally bought more last night. God know what mine will be like further on into pregnancy. Might try a prescription instead, those bottles are flipping expensive, especially when they end up all over the floor lol.

My limited knowledge of boys come from my younger nephew and even then it took me so long to do a nappy. I was like- do I lift it, go around it?! Also if they pee you need to be ready to slap that nappy back on asap haha xx

Jem I missed that post but yeah your baby is totally different. There's no fear at all, you just have complete confidence xx

Haha yep and I know with boys you should make sure their willy is pointing down. My sister didn't have a clue and for weeks everytime he peed he soaked himself, she was baffled lol.

My body posture seems to have changed and pushing my hips forward.. Dunno how to stop it? I'm assuming it's something to do with being heavier or? I'm also slightly waddling cos of the posture change and back ache. I feel like I look like a pregnant woman in the Sims game haha

I havent had bad reflux with either pregnancy lol lucky me. (probably jinxed myself now). I used to have it bad when I was younger to the point where swollowing food was painful as fk and I refused to eat. Glad I don't have it now!!!!
Lol I have no clue with a boy either!!! He's gonna piss in my face isn't he xD LMAO. Tbf dd first explosive poop was while we was out, and OMG hours later I found shit in my hair literally haha.

I feel so much better after reading all your replies so thank you all! It's so reassuring to see I am not the only one who feels this way!

I have been exactly that way- looking at mose's basket mattresses, what sheets do I need, what size, WHY ARE THERE SO MANY SIZES, mattress protectors- how many should I get?, babysuits with full sleeves, without sleeves, with capped/half sleeves!? How many should I even get? and I am just at an utter loss! HOW DO I KNOW WHAT TOG MY BABY NEEDS IN A FREAKING COT DUVET?!?!?! Then the issue with July too, I mean its the UK its hardly going to be tropical weather but with my luck ill prepare for a cold uk summer and the child will be boiled alive!! or Ill get light stuff and be layering the child like an onion til it can't move its arms!!

Also- muslin squares- what are those even for and why are they so scratchy? haha xxx

So far I have:

Pram travel system and car seat
Moses basket- pending a stand
Tommee Tippee Steriliser kit with 4x 5oz bottles and 4 x 9oz bottles, 6 powder containers, tongs, bottle cleaner, 2 medium flow teats to change to when the time comes, 2 thermal bags, and an electric bottle warmer
Tommee tippee perfect prep with an extra bottle.
1 soft white blanket my mum got
a toy panda
a toy rabbit
2 pairs of white scratch mitts

I feel like I have nothing?! I know I have stuff obviously by reading the list but I feel so under prepared! we are going tomorrow to look for a bedside crib, got an idea what im looking for and just want to see it in person!

xx

oh sorry for all the posting but I also ordered a new memory foam mattress for the moses basket cuz the one that came with it was terrible haha im super excited cuz its almost twice as thick and going to be so good! xx

Laura I read on mothercare website that baby's don't need a duvet or pillow because they will get too hot. You should use a fitted sheet or blanket to keep them warm. I'm petrified of baby sleeping and getting too hot or suffocating under a blanket. I might use a baby sleeping bag or swaddle thing because it's my biggest fear!

If you go on eBay or Amazon and search for specific sheet will come up. Asda sell them to 2 for £5. I'd get a few dd peed everywhere as a new born and threw up in everything. Sleeping bags in summer you need 1 tog, I use 2.5 atm until it gets warmer.
Muslins are just cloths for spit up or over your shoulder to burp. Never used mine.

I think so far I have
Pram and carseat
Baby bath
Steriliser
4x bottles (need to get some more)
A few white baby grows (long and short sleeved)
Big cot
Changing bag

Think that's it :/ I need so much more!! I need a moses basket and mattress for the cot for definite. But not sure if we'll set the cot up depends if we move or not before baby comes x

I didn't know that! I mean I wasn't planning a pillow but all the crib/cot sets always have duvets but I guess that's for older. I was looking at the wee gro-bags and sleeping bags as think it's good it can't go over their heads. I just have a really cold bedroom and I am already worrying about heating the place! xx

I had seen the ones in Asda and my mum said they were a great price. I think I am just going to get a couple of packs of white ones :) can't beat crisp clean white sheets haha

oh no the sleeping bags have togs too!? Im not adult enough for this hahaha xx

Sounds like you are well on the way to having what you need :D I need to look at cots but I think we are going to do a bedside crib for the first 6 months- will know better tomorrow. We have a moses basket too but that's mainly going to live downstairs as it would be a nightmare just having one thing and moving it up and down the stairs all the time.

I was looking at baby baths, thinking of the "Shnuggle" one and my mum loves it so just waiting to see what colour to get! I saw a really nice changing mat in IKEA weirdly, its just plain white but it was so squishy and had those huge barrier sides. After seeing it no other mat has compared haha xx

I have no idea what to do with a little boy. Any experience I've had has been my little niece and she is willie-free haha I actually said to my oh if we have a boy I don't know what to do at all!

I swaddled dd and will again but the sleeping bags are great too. Dd used to kick everything off, still does. And I'd freak out that she was freezing or would push them over her face, so sleeping bags are very useful.

And I had a glo egg for room temperature, going to buy one again. It tells you the temp and changes colour if its too cold, hot or ideal. Helpful if you're a a panicker lol xx

Also for baby baths I'm buying a white changing table with the bath inside it. With my disk I just can't bend down all the time for nappies or bathing. Mine was a lifesaver last time too. I know some people say they're a waste but not for me. And I'm buying one of those flower shaped things you put inside the sink for baby to sit in and be bathed. Just cause I love it haha xx

I'd looked at a glo egg just because I do worry a lot about the temp in my bedroom which will be the babys room for quite some time.

I'll have a look at swaddling stuff too. I like the idea of their wee arms being inside haha don't want cold paws! Xx

Oh bless her. Really hope it passes quickly and you don't come down with it too.

Morning everyone. I'm off to the pub for breakfast service. Not something we normally offer but it's a bore weekend so people flood to us to see the river from our beer garden. So bloody cold out as well, it's probably going to take me 10 minutes just de icing the car, lol.
