****July 2018 Mummies - Tri 2****

Hey...not caught up on thread yet ladies, sorry. Hope you're al well.

I'm still in hospital. Appointment with consultant was set for 9.30. Saw a midwife first, went through everything. Found babies heartbeat which she was really happy with. My blood pressure is fine. Then she went to get a consultant. She came in and we went through everything. She's asked me to go on aspirin 75mg once a day as I have a couple of pre-eclampsia risk factors as my mum suffered high no during both her pregnancies. Then she went to discuss with the lead consultant who has prescribed me a progesterone pessary (up the bum, lovely) once a day due to a high miscarriage risk until they figure out how my cervix might cope. This is because of a very invasive Lletz procedure 6 years ago almost. So..she asked the midwife to go and get me an Internal scan asap appointment so they could get an idea as soon as possible. She came back with a appointment for 12.30 today, so I'm now sat in the pharmacy waiting room, waiting for my bum pills, wondering what the hell has happened in the last two hours to turn what I thought was all perfect into something currently quite scary.

I'm trying my best not to cry...occasionally failing. When I was waiting to be called in first thing, I was talking to the woman next to me
She was here for an Internal to check cervix due to a Lletz and is 17 weeks but her appointment was two weeks ago and she said today was the earliest they could fit her in. So, of course, I'm now worried that they've felt the need to get me scanned on the same day and give me two prescriptions. Although, I said no to the aspirin prescription...they cost pennies and are over the counter so I'd rather not sponge off the NHS.

I really hope this internal scan comes back okay.

GG what a rough day for you :(

I am loving the "bum pills" description.

So happy you've heard little ones heart beat, that's lovely. But what a scary, scary experience for you. Hopefully they'll give you another peek at baby whilst you're there.

I'm now a bit worried about my consultant appointment, because you go thinking things will be straight forward and never know what they are going to come out with. I'm going alone because OH can't get the time off work and we thought it would be a simple appointment. Are you on your own there?

Sending lots of hugs your way, you're in the best place and in capable hands, try not to worry too much xxx

Yes, on my own. I'm okay, just scary words to hear miscarriage risk.

Are you being consultant led due to bmi? I have a few friends who have been and they all said it was just really straightforward so really hope that's the case for you as well. Xx

Oh how horrible :( I'm sure it's okay, but they like to say the worst case scenario don't they!

Mine is BMI and also because I've had increased pressure in the fluid around my brain in the past so they are concerned about that during labour and also preeclampsia risk. x

Ah bless you. Yes, I'm sure it'll be fine or both of us xx

Good luck for the internal scan, let us know how it goes. Definitely treat yourself to something nice after all of this!! xx

oh GG that sounds stressful. Just try to remember that more than anything they are being cautious and probably blowing things a bit of proportion. Hope scan goes well xx

GG that all sounds scary but all will be fine. It's great they have decided to be so proactive with you. The progesterone sounds like a precautionary measure which is a positive I think rather than a negative. With your age, and history, if were me I'd want every precaution under the sun. Even if the risks were small.

And lots of women and up on aspirin for high PB and precautions for pre eclampsia. I've been told I'm likely to end up on it after my 16 weeks. So don't stress. Also it could be that the internal scans are able to be done today like that woman, so they've fitted you in today, instead of coming back when the next available time would be. I'm positive everything will be fine, despite how frightening it must be having an appointment suddenly end up turning into something else. Some women don't realise they have a problem with the cervix until it's too late. So as scared as you may be, at least if there may be a chance of cervical issues, they'll know and be able to act for you and your baby. Hope even a little bit of this helps.

And hey, you heard babies heartbeat, that's fab!

Fx for the internal but I'm sure everything will be okay there too xxx :hugs:

Heard the heartbeat and saw the little wriggler, who again refused to stay still.

So...bum pills have been returned, my cervix is fine, miscarriage risk lowered but the exercise and lifting advice remains.

Now it's a case of monitoring my back and pelvis.

Relieved is an understatement.

Can't believe I got to see baby again xx

GG that's great news. Look at the size of that baby now! Xx

Oh gg what a rough day, glad you don't need the progesterone it's horrible dribbles out the entire day.
Had my 16 week appointment, apparently my due date is the 7th complete bull shit. I asked of they will change it at the 20 week scan because obviously the scan man said its not a reliable scan measurement. She said no. Had enough of the hospital and Drs and midwives already.
My midwife said she thinks I'm having a girl aha, she said the HB is really fast (ikno old wives tales) so I said dd was always 156. She said this one is 156. Kinda got my hopes up for a girl :p x
