****July 2018 Mummies - Tri 2****

Hi ladies,

Long time no see, I've just spent some time catching up on the last few pages. :)

I've been a little stressed out and avoiding the internet, I mentioned at my booking appointment to my midwife that I"d had surgery on my cervix a couple of times and that the last time the consultant had told me I had a short cervix. So the midwife referred me to a consultant.

This consultant had the worst bedside manner I've ever come across! We saw her two weeks ago, she had a look ay my cervix (just manually, ie sticking a finger up there... lovely) and said I had a very short 1cm cervix. Which I know is a risk in terms of preterm labour.

She then booked me in for an internal scan, I'd already had a letter for 23rd February, but she moved it forward, the conversation ran thusly:

Consulant "Let's see if we can get you in sooner, It's be a shame if you miscarried on, say the 22nd and we could have seen you sooner and tried to do something about it"

Me "Er. Yes it would be something of a shame......"

Consultant: "Good well, you're all booked in for the 18th. Try not to be too terrified."

Me: "Yeah, I'll try not to. Thanks."

This was pretty much how it happened - verbatim.

So I spent two weeks panicking, and wondering what my chances of preterm labour was, would I need a cerclage to hold it closed? Am I going to be walking on eggshells until June?

The scan rolled around today and off we went, I was saying to my DH, "Well, let's hope it's not got any shorter, and let's just enjoy seeing the baby"

The sonographer measured the cervix, and said: "It's absolutely fine. Well within what we'd want to see - 3.5cm"

I couldn't believe how relieved I was, I nearly cried.. we saw the consultant later (a different one thankfully) who said the cervix looked absolutely fine and we'd have another scan in a couple of weeks to make sure it wasn't getting shorter or anything. But she said it didn't even qualify as being 'short' and as long as it stayed mostly the same then we'd be discharged back to midwife led care.

I wanted to share just in case anyone else has a similar thing - I notice GG that you had a rough day which also involved some cervical stuff.

The sonographer also did an external belly scan and confirmed that the baby is growing well, she also said that it's a girl!!

I hope everyone is doing ok, I've not felt the baby, but then I'm not sure I'd know if I had!

Definitely feeling fat rather than pregnant, hope I start showing soon now that most people at work know!
Congratulations on your girl! :)

I'm so happy to hear that everything was okay. That consultant should really work on their bedside manner that's ridiculous putting that kind of worry on u when they clearly don't know what they're talking about xx

Hope everyone else is keeping well! What an amazing scan pic GG. And everyone's bumps look mega cute hehe

I had my first day back to work yesterday and suffered through it all day :( felt sick, exhausted and had a banging headache. I managed to cut my foot somehow.. No idea when or how so now walking hurts and to top it off I've woken up this morning and I think I've the beginning of conjunctivitis in my left eye haha oh the joys xx

Wow!!! You've really been put through it haven't you. How bloody awful!

So glad all is okay and Yes, they said today that anything under 2.5cm is a risk, over that and okay...over 3cm and you're fine.

And you were ok with yours GG? It sounded in your post like they said it was ok? How's the pub going? Have you started your new menu? Odd to think we were both at hospitals just a few miles apart today!

We've told parents about gender, at least this now gives me time to subvert my MiL's 'pink and pretty' instinct for girls clothes (she had two boys and has often said she hoped for a granddaughter whom she could festoon with princess floof).

Not 'anti' pink, I hasten to add.... and it's purely a personal opinion :) I'd prefer generically colourful and vibrant to pretty...

I'm the same. Not totally anti-pink but DD has a good selection on multi colored clothes. My MIL thinks I am weird for not dressing her in pink and make her wear dresses everyday (she only wears them when there is an occasion for it, as I believe she is most comfortable in leggings and tops). Thank God I have OH on my side, he thinks his mother is the weird one :D

Well, it's not the 1950's anymore. Ours will be living mainly in overalls so god help anyone who has a problem with that. Okay...may be a while til the overalls come out but you get my drift,, lol

haha GG I'm with you there my DD lives in her wellies and waterproof! although her hi-vis jacket is pink haha

Hahahaa! Whole different ball game living on a farm isn't it. All about practicality and comfort. We've said yes and thank you to offers of hand knitted hat's and scarves etc because I love that people want to do that. I have no fucking idea what MIL will make. Her taste is unreal. She turned up on Christmas day in a bright green polyester dress with little bright red santa's on it. A bright green cardigan with a red collar, bright green tights, thick tights and red shoes. My mum was already here and sat in the living room. Mil walked in so I came in from the kitchen to say hello and I saw my mum first ( L shaped room) and I swear she had that mum face on that says, "don't you dare"...then I saw MIL and I swear to God, I still don't know how I didn't just piss myself on the spot. It physically hurt not to laugh. Then Dan came in behind me, I automatically gave him the same look my mum had given me and he just turned and ran the moment he saw his mum. Came back 5 minutes later saying he had a 5 second warning and had to run to the loo...he actually just couldn't hold the laughter in.

I honestly can't do justice with words to how bad it Was, so I've no doubt I'll be showing you all pictures of the vomit inducing creations she makes for baby, lol.

Hahahaha I don't know what you mean it sounds like your MIL has great taste! Hahahaha I'd have died laughing if someone turned up head to toe green with touches of red so well done for keeping it together!

Ooh maybe if you're lucky she can make a matching outfit for the baby next Xmas hahahahaha xx

You must have really pissed someone off in previous life! I really hope it gets better for you soon! I think you suffered your share of pregnancy symptoms long time ago x

Glad everything’s ok GG and Fela... sounds like a stressful few days!

Is anyone else feeling more emotional than normal this week? I’ve literally woken up at 2am every night and cried until it’s time to wake up... not over nothing exactly but over stuff that people have said that I would normally brush off. Thing is the more sleep I miss the more upset I am! It’s my last day at my old job today and I’m an emotional wreck already

Katy I'm totally with you. I am just so emotional, nearly crying all time. But also getting angry too.

Yesterday OH went into the bedroom and just lay on the bed, I went in there like "what are you doing? why are you in here?" .. "I'm just laying on the bed.." .. "why though? OMG YOU MAKE ME SO ANGRY!"

and then I walked away seething. He came in the room and replayed the situation to me a few mins later and I couldn't stop laughing, how ridiculous hahaha! Such an irrational anger over nothing lol x

Morning ladies

My first little baby is 4 today! I actually can't believe it everyone tells pi when you get pregnant "oh enjoy it time flies when you have a baby" and you never really believe them. But oh my god my baby is a child now. She was so excited to go to nursery with her 4 badge lol.

I'm feeling so emotional & I think having another baby has a lot to do with that. Hope nobody minds me posting her here. Not really pregnancy related. But I can't believe she's 4. One of the first pic I ever took of her (on a hospital Tena pad lol) to one of the most recent <3 <3 <3

Have a nice day everyone . I'm away to cry haha xx

Shan she is bloody gorgeous!!!!

No wonder you're so emotional, that tiny baby is now a little girl and you've done that :) you must be so proud of her.

I hope you have a wonderful day and I hope she has an amazing birthday xx

Oh Shan she is beautiful!! And 4 already... such big girl! No wonder you feel emotional. I think we all wish sometimes time would slow down xx

Awhh, she's such a cutie shan. Hope you all have a great day :)

My dd lives in pink, mainly because that's what everyone bought. I love her in yellow though. People keep buying her dresses which isn't practical, she never wears them unless it's a party. She lives on baby grows :/ it's just harder to do stuff with dresses they constantly come up :/ meh.

Nice to know all of these things, I have been told by a couple people that actual clothes are pretty much pointless when babies are so young as just not practical. I'll be sure not to buy any actual clothes unless there's a special occasion xx

Ahh I remember the pain of dresses on a baby! I brought loads for Ellah b4 she was born and regreted it sokn after just not practical at all! I loved her in little leggins and tops <3 but she was my first my others have lived in baby grows apart from visiting and if i just fancied an outfit on them for the day! Tiny clothes are so cue but u just can’t beat a grow! Xx

Thanks ladies I'm obviously totally bias lol. Can't wait for her to get out, plus it started snowing she'll be delighted haha

Yep a few outfits are cute if you're wanting to take baby to see gran or something like that etc. But yeah babygrows/ sleepsuits are mostly what dd lived in too. I learnt my lesson with all the lovely clothes that ended up still having tags on them because she'd grown out of them before I blinked lol xx

aw happy birthday Ivy! she's beautiful! what are you up to today for her special day?

yep my DD just lived in baby grows and tops/leggings until she could walk at 11m. dresses were a nightmare when she was trying to crawl

haha GG your mil sounds like my mum, she's quite eccentric when it comes to dressing. I was always so embarrassed as a child. luckily she gave up her knitting needles a long time a go so now it's just me who crochets things for my kids. nearly finished my blanket for this baby although DD seems to have taken a liking to it. you can never get enough hats and things when you're outside. Millets had loads of cheap thermal hats and neck scarves this week so I've stocked DD for the next couple of years.

I've definitely been feeling emotional. DD wasn't herself when she came home from nursery yesterday but struggled to tell me why. eventually she came out with "what if I bump myself hard at nursery and you're not their to look after me". it broke my heart as it had obviously been playing on her mind most of the day. we had a good chat but I thought about it for ages when I went to bed and kept filling up. today I'm big time stressing and getting upset because I can't find one of my only pairs of maternity jeans.

Happy birthday Mini Shan!!

She's so adorable.

Thanks everyone:) just waiting for her to come home to get her presents. Then my in laws are coming with theirs. And we're going to an indoor jungle play place, you know ball pit slides etc. I think we may do the cinema if she wants to after but depends if she wants to come home and play with her presents or not lol

Oh Shep what are they like. They really know how to tug at the heartstrings. Pregnancy hormones with your other child really know how to get you crying. I hope she's bettter today and it was a one off xx

Hi Ladies,

Hope you are all doing well.

Just wondering i have been taking folic acid & vitamin d in one tablet, I have taken my last one today. Ia m 14 weeks tomorrow (yippieeeee) will i now be ok just to buy vitamin d on its own?

Thanks xx

Not sure, I was told to stop taking Folic Acid at 12 weeks, I'd just check with your midwife or GP if you're not sure xx
