****July 2018 Mummies - Tri 2****

I keep unsubscribing ffs

Shep i can't believe you're booked in for a sweep already! Is that the only option given to you after all that? I don't know if they ever work, never had one but everyone seems to have a different experience with them. 90 minutes is definitely taking the piss. And thanks I'm feeling a little better than yesterday, I just feel drained at the minute. xx

Doctor phoned me. There is literally no safe antibiotic they can give me. I mean...He said anything they can give me for the penicillin allergy is cancelled out with the pregnancy or the asthma. I've to go back down later to get my bp and heart rate checked. And he said maybe for the rest of the week.

But I do think the heart rate is just with me being so ill. He was pretty furious yesterday about my bp results on my notes. Midwives told me they were okay but when I showed him them he was like no they're not okay, especially with your hypertension history. So I don't know? So confused! Midwife on Friday though ill be finding out what the heck. So just another moaning post from me ladies

Shan that is crap, I am really sorry! Sending hugs and you can moan as much as you want xx

just moan away shanivy! so sorry they cant give you anything, what a pain

Yeah consultant said if I have my 38 week sweep and nothing happens I can push for a proper induction at 39 weeks. I don't think she understood me, I was like "I don't want an induction at 39 weeks id like one at 40+5 or 6" but she didn't really listen. I think ill just be trying every old wives tale ever thought of at 39/40 weeks

Thanks ladies. Be grateful you aren't living with me right now haha!

Shep why don't you want one at 39 hun? It's not too early... though sounds a little like they didn't really take on board your opinion compared to what they "think you should do" maybe Xx

Shep, if you don't mind me asking, why do you want to wait till 40+5 and why do they insist on inducing early? x

Shep, I have no idea what a sweep even is, lol...but I'd definitely push to have it when you want it. The midwifery service is to advocate for the mothers. They should be on your side and fight for you for what you want, so definitely have a good chat to your MW about this on Friday.

Shan, I'm gutted they can't give you anything, so...if you can, use diet to give your body a proper boost. Things like garlic, ginger, lemongrass, etc...so if you like them, Asian soups and broths with chicken and noodles and lots of ginger and garlic, they'll really give your immune system a safe and effective boost. If you want recipes, I have loads, just let me know. If you don't like Asian flavours, there are other ways of doing it as well in different dishes.

Hi Malagueta, not sure what they can do to help with coccyx pain...must be a nightmare for you. Can you get one of the ring cushions to use when sitting down at all? My sister shattered her coccyx at 19 and had to have surgery to remove the pieces of bone and then spend 6 weeks in traction. It is a very severe pain so I've no idea how you're coping with the extra pressure of a baby.

I had a truly lazy day yesterday and a truly lazy morning as well. Just finishing up at the pub now, off shopping and then probably a fairly quiet night here service wise, which I'm actually happy about as my body is gently reminding me at regular intervals that it will give me a bloody good telling off if I try to do too much or do anything too quickly, lol.

Did have a lovely experience last night in bed though. every time for about 5 minutes, that I pressed the right side of my bump, baby would press back. It was so lovely and I was gutted Dan was already sleeping as it would have made his day bless him. He's shattered too as he did a 15 hour shift with me on Sunday at the pub to help and was out with me all day Saturday shopping for it. He's under a fair bit of stress at work at the moment as well so I think I will be pampering him lots this week.

Unfortunately, last night was a night of zero sleep...well, until about 6am when I finally nodded off, but I lay in til 9.30 so don't feel too bad.

Shep, if you don't mind me asking, why do you want to wait till 40+5 and why do they insist on inducing early? x

Theyre not insisting on inducing early, it's all a bit hard to explain. Basically I went 9 days over last time and then went into labour naturally however because she was so far overdue there was meconium in her waters which was the beginning of things going wrong ending with her heart rate being dangerously low and a ventouse delivery which if had been any longer would have been a c-sec. She had been back to back but tried to turn herself at the last minute and got stuck

The whole thing caused me awful anxiety and ptsd. I'm still affected by anxiety now and while in my head I know 2nd labours are much easier I'm terrified of going overdue again. I don't want to be induced early as I want a natural birth but if I got to 41 weeks I think I'd be close to a nervous breakdown terrified I'd nearly lose my baby again. Does any of that make sense haha? I know labours can go wrong at any time but my midwife agreed with me that baby wouldn't have suffered so much distress if there wasn't the meconium in the waters and a 40min ambulance ride which I'm really hoping to avoid this time

That makes total sense Shep and I think they should absolutely take your wishes seriously and do it the way you are most c omfirtable with.

How awful shep. Really hope you go into labour early and have a super easy birth this time round, it cant happen twice surely...
I had meconium in my waters to, but was in hosp on moniter they said i have a few hours before it turns urgent.. I cant imagine what was going through your mind! X
How lovely gg :) mine likes to kick the shit outta my vagina :) was so sore last night from it lol.
Shan sorry you cant take anything. Did thsy give you some co codemol just to help out? X

That all makes perfect sense. Its all well and good for consultants to tell you this and that, but it wasn't their baby in distress last time, and isnt their issue this time. Anyone with a traumatic experience in labour would obviously want to avoid it all again. They should be taking your fears seriously though.

If you're getting regular sweeps though earlier from 38, and it works, would that not be as close to a natural birth as you can get? I know baby doesn't start it off by herself, but you could still have exactly the type of labour in your birth plan couldnt you? That would mean you could fx have a chance to avoid being properly induced with meds etc at 40+, am I making sense or not lol. I'm sorry if i'm being completely not helpful, or misunderstanding your post in any way, as Im sure you've thought about this already. xx

Ah I get kicked in the cervix haha. Its the most uncomfortable thing ever. But apparently she loves it

No I was taking paracetamol but need an antibiotic for the infections,,,which apparently I cant be given so Im stuck lol. Madness xx

Shan sounds like a nightmare!!

My sisters appointment isn't until tomorrow at 2.15. I feel more worried than she is lol. Hoping it all goes well.

Believe it or not my mood has completely lifted and I'm actually happy at work atm! Wonder if it's the sun being out haha. But my manager is definitely loads nicer to me and even discussed changing my job role when I return as she wants me more managerial (which was supposed to happen anyway until she gave the job away to someone else) still not sure what my decision is on going back or not, but will see nearer the time what I'm offered - if anything!

Hope everyone is okay, now I sit in a room with my manager I can't go on my phone or the internet often so sorry if I'm a bit quiet in here! I try to catch up when I get home from work but always got something going on haha.

X

Thanks me too. It is what it is though. Diet is definitely an issue for me at the minute and I'm sure its not helping. My appetite just disappeared, even having to force myself to drink. Not like me at all. If only you could cook all that and send it up haha, I'll definitely take a recipe like though, sounds just what I need thanks hun .

It seems like you're feeling baby so much now which is just amazing with how long it took you to get here...anterior placenta doesn't make much of a difference in the end. I cant believe we're both 24 weeks tomorrow and medically viable. Insane! xx

Yes Shanivy a sweep will kick off a natural labour so if it does work then the rest is all my body and baby doing the work so fingers crossed it will work and I can avoid induction

Sorry Jem I'd got my days mixed up, I knew your sisters app was Wednesday I just thought it was Wednesday today

I have seen so many success stories from 22+3 onwards but yes, tomorrow is our V day and it's already making me feel really much more relaxed now. Might sound daft, but I've watched a few 23-24 week birth story videos on YouTube as I was curious as to just what my little baby looks like in there. It's incredible.

Yes, baby is moving loads now. Definitely noticed a pattern already which is really reassuring.

You know what Shep sorry my last post to you was so completely pointless lol. I just went back to reread, I thought I read you saying you didn't want the sweeps at all. Ignore me lol. I really hope this one doesnt have you waiting. You'll just have to have lots of sex, sweeps and curries lol xx

Gosh hopefully none of us need to even think about that but it's amazing what can be done these days...baby is starting to have a pattern here too. I think I'm in for an night owl this time lol xx

Great news about work Jem, shame you can't skive so much haha. Whatever you decide to do about going back it's good that the problem seems to have resolved itself. Whatever her issue was! Glad you can start enjoying your 2nd tri now too. Fx for your sisters appointment tomorrow xx

Me too. Up a few times though the day but loves keeping me awake at night now. Lol

Jem, I'm really glad things are better. If things at work are better, it's possibly better to stay put, at least for a while as it's usually better the devil you know.

Really hope your sister gets some good news tomorrow. Xxx
