Eeeeekkkk - the Royal baby is on it's way!

I didn't see the car seat bit. My own little princess needed her bath. But yes I do love them.

Well done Nat for creating her labour thread ;) x

Is it sad that I was excited to see what kind of carseat they chose? Lol

I think they did fantastic. I love how normal they are.
She looked fabulous and didnt hide her bump.
He called her poppet how cute. By far my favourite royals as with harry x

I think they looked just lovely, the Catherine handled herself with such composure and looked fabulous. I am not a royalist by any stretch of the imagination but I do like the royal family.

I am impressed that Catherine didn't hide her tiny bump. We are so used to seeing perfect pp 'celebrities'. I actually don't think she looked that tired?? She was glowing and they looked so happy.

They had a Britax baby seat.
Xx

I watched the coverage and thought Kate and Will looked so proud and so happy. Poor Kate looked very emotional and nervous ( I thought) but ultimately he is our future king and the world wanted to see him.
What an adorable little baby and loved that his wee hands were up almost like a wave.

I thought the fact that Will carried the carseat out and clicked it in then drove his family home was just amazing and shows how much he loves and cares for his new family. I was holding back the lump in my throat! How many times do you think he practiced?

The car seat according to preciouslittleone.com is a Britax Baby Safe, it came up on me feed on Facebook and from the Daily Mail.

Yay - I did the future King's labour thread lmao!

I am sure it's been printed they have a Bugaboo, we'll see.

I thought she looked amazing but very nervous. As any new Mum would be let alone if you were facing 300 million people worldwide

I hope they get some peace now, but I am very curious about the name lol

xxxxxxxxx

Yes the normality of 'dad' clicking his son into place then driving them all home was very touching xx

He was sooo cute! It's a good job I'm already preggers cos that's made me majorly broody lol.
I've had the news on the tv all day waiting to hear if he has a name yet and never realised that my LO had been paying attention to it but I swear that just before they brought him out he pointed at the tv and i swear he shouted 'baba baba' lol. Maybe I'm a little too royal obsessed

I am fairly ambivalent about the royal family in general, but I do understand why people are excited, and I was quite happy to sit there and go 'aawwhh' when they showed them holding the baby etc.

But... I realise they are unlikely to crash as they probably have a security escort everywhere, but in the picture on the BBC website (link below) the baby doesn't look like he's entirely properly placed in the car seat... is it just me looking at it wrong or something??!!

Yes I did spot that.... Should be swaddled then strapped in.... Oh well they are new parents I am sure they will figure it out/it will be pointed out xx

I was just surprised as I thought somebody might have mentioned it to them before they took him out in front of the world's press - although I suppose they might have felt a little awkward telling William he'd done it wrong

The car sat thing is appalling. You'd think after his mum coming a cropper with no seat belt they'd be all over correctly restraining their baby..
given that it is all over the internet already I am sure someone has pointed it out to them, but even so, they shouldn't be above reading a user manual.

We don't have a car so only use our seat very sporadically but what am I missing about the car seat?

In the piccie linked by Jais the baby looks swaddled and strapped in (as KK says he should be - although I suppose she meant the baby shouldn't be?)

We bought James home in baby-gro, thick cardi and blankets over the car seat!

Just about everything is wrong with that car seat photo carnat. The straps are far too loose, the baby doesn't have his arms inside the straps and the swaddle. If they were hit head on that baby is going to fly out of the seat.

You (not you personally carnat, in general ;-) ) should not swaddle (or use any blanket, padded jacket etc) inside of the car seat straps. If you need to swaddle in the car seat use the method shown half way down this page

When Amelie was first time in her car seat I was petrified to tighten the straps to not hurt her xx
I think they will so just fine, first days are petrifying and even if you have read the manual it's still completely awkward and different to put a fragile precious newborn in there...

Wow, I didn't know they shouldn't wear padded jackets in a car seat! From when she was born in Feb to when the weather got warmer, E was in a snow suit in the car.
I honestly think they should give you a talk about this before you leave the hospital.

Thanks for the link Talulah!xxx
