*****December Babies*****

Thanks Sammy. I think its the horror stories ending in a section anyway that make me panicky but trying to think positively because being panicky wont do me any favours. Went on a 2 mile walk this afternoon and a few cramps but I don't think my body was ready for the sweep to work. I really hope you get going soon Sophs and Newbie let's get those inductions beaten ;) xx

My mother has just spent the last 10 mins telling me how painful sweeps apparently are. She is coming up to take me to it, why would you'd tell someone that!!?? Grrrr I'm so angry, how am I ment to bloody relax on Friday now :( x

Hun they aren't painful they really aren't. Just a little uncomfortable. The actual sweep doesn't hurt x

Thanks ladies, I know it isn't exactly the same as a smear but I'm fine with them so hoping the sweep won't bother me, just what you need to hear........I dislike people sometimes! Xx

Sosie she is absolutely beautiful and sounds like you did brilliantly!

Newbie I hope that you beat induction Hun but nice to have an end date!

Doob again hoping things happen before Friday but if not at least you get bubs before Xmas!

Soph I hope your sweep goes ok I'm sure it will be fine Hun!

I want to have mine before Xmas too :-( (but I know that might be wishful thinking as not due until 30th) x

sweeps are fine ladies - not fun certainly but not horrendously painful just uncomfy! Com on December babies - get a wriggle on! xx

I know its sooooo overly optimistic but because of how my pains have been I really thi.k it'll work for me ...... I know, I'm laughing too. PMA!! X

Sophs please don't feel stressed about the sweep cos you'll be tense Hun. It's really not painful like the others said. Uncomfortable and a bit weird but not painful xx

Sweeps are fine, not painful at all, just breathe and keep your legs relaxed xx

Hi ladies. Well, I have had an interesting day. Had a lovely outing to my Dad's and had Xmas lunch etc with Dad's side of the family. On the way home I get a phone call from the community midwife to say that my group b strep test has come back positive. :( so now my dreams of a home water birth seem to be out of the window as will need to have IV antibiotics during labour. Feel really gutted tbh. I know it has to be done and I would never do anything to jepodise the safety or health of my LO but still mega disappointed. My midwife is calling tomorrow and I have a list of questions for her so hopefully will be able to work something out. Any advise?

But I am mega excited for you ladies. Newbie I don't think it will be long now! And at least you will have LO for Xmas. And Doob, I hope things kick off naturally for you too. Sorry LO is in an awkward position. Fx LO moves for you. But you will have bubba for Xmas too! V envious of you ladies!
Soph, I will still be here! Hanging on!! Due the day after you so it's close! I just think I will be in the new year. I can see it happening! Maybe you, Jodie or I will be the first baby of 2013!! Lol. X

Sorry to hear that bliss, I'm sure they will make it as comfortable as possible for you :( xx

Sorry to read that Bliss :( is it definitely a no no? its disapointing hun but lo will be worth it :hugs: did you request the test? I don't think I've been tested for it. I was hoping to use one of the hospital birth pools but don't think that'll be possible now.

You might doob, sosie used the pool. Do they need to monitor you?? Xx

I've been told the pools are in the mw led bit and I'll have to be in the consultant led bit for induction and they don't have pools on that side. I'll find out more tomorrow I hope but not looking likely. I think Sosie was at Chesterfield which is newer and more up to date, I'll be going to Sheffield x

Last night when getting ready for bed I noticed fresh blood without any discharge on a tissue. When I looked more closely, it was coming from my episiotomy wound! I asked DH to examine it for me and he said it looks ok but gaping slightly at the end! Yikes!! So I rang the MLU for advice and told them there was some bleeding bit it had stopped, and I think one of my stitches had popped! They arranged for a community mw to come over today to examine in properly.

So the mw came around 10ish this am and agreed that the wound had opened up slightly in the subcutaneous layer and looked a bit red around the periphery. She rang my GP and got him to prescribe prophylactic antibiotics to prevent any infection, and also arranged a physio referral to treat/close the wound using lasers!! She took a swab to culture the bacteria to test for which antibiotics would be best.
She also checked my BP as I'm still having to take regular labetalol. It's still bloody high!! So she rings the GP back and insists in seen immediately with possible view to change medication! Although its borderline, the GP decided to keep me on same meds... I also got given my augmentin antibiotics.

As Millie is 6 days old today she also decided to do her heel prick test! My poor little girl screamed the place down!! That prob didn't help my BP!

So tmrw the mw is coming back again to check my BP and I'm also seeing the physio at 3.30pm to examine and treat my wound

I will find out more information tomorrow when I speak to my midwife. I did request the test. I had read about it and I just had a funny feeling so went with my gut instinct. Good job I did!

I hope you can use a pool. Fx for you. X

Klferrin that sounds painful Hun hope you get it sorted

Bliss sorry to hear that! Why did they test you? I don't think they do it routinely. Sorry that disrupts your plan for a home birth x
