Back from midwife. Had sweep and she said she could just about feel the baby's head. He isn't engaged but she said that doesn't mean anything. She also said the cervix isn't quite ready yet.

I tried to have 3 sweeps but my cervix was never ready, i was booked for induction 30th nov ar 11am and went into labour 11pm thurs night, however on the wed my birthday i walked for 5hrs shopping with friends, so it does work ) xx

Me and OH are going Xmas shopping tomorrow so I'm hoping the walking will help. I know things can change in the space of a day so I have a while to beat induction! It is kinda nice to know I have an end date now though although they call me on the morning to confirm the time as it all depends on how much space they have :-/ hopefully it's a quiet time for them!

Sweep was fine, it wasn't painful just a little uncomfy. It's not really like a smeer test. Your on the bed, legs open and midwifes hand feels for your cervix. That bit is uncomfy. Then she gently sweeps around. It was an oooooh moment but not aaaaah if that makes sense. It was fine. Helps if you relax obviously. No sign of anything from sweep yet! I probably won't have another sweep as Xmas etc and the next clinic is a day before induction so not sure how much point there is. My best friend is a midwife and she offered to do it but I'm not sure how i feel about that lol what would you do? I mean she is one of my best friends..... Xx

My sweeps weren't successful either Hun. My sister and her friend are both midwives and offered to do sweeps or me too.. I'm quite close to my sister so although I wasn't bothered about her doing it, im not quite sure how she felt about it iykwim!!

Doob - glad you're getting checked out Hun, they would much rather see a whole day of false alarms than see anything happen to these babies!!

Doob is still in the hospital. I'm sure she will update when she is back but baby is wedged in the wrong place and head is down so she needs to shift. They gave her a sweep to hopefully move her. I'm sure she will be back soon but if anything happens ill update you. She is just waiting for results of blood tests but they aren't treating it as an emergency so hopeful everything is ok and will just progress naturally.

Katy, I'm tempted to let my friend do the sweep..... Argh I don't know. It's a tough one lol x

Hi ladies just got back. I'm being induced on Friday at 9 am so long as they have space. Had to have bloods done to rule out pre eclampsia, liver and gaulblader issues which came back clear. Baby's head is very low but her body is in an awkward position flipping from far across in my right to almost transverse across my tummy and they think is making her hb go high. They also said this is why shes moving less thab she should be. So basically rather than her getting bigger and in any distress theyre inducing me as I'm close to my dd anyway and she's slowed down her movements too. Got to go for a scan tomorow to find out exactly where she's lying and the mw did a sweep to see if that'll beat induction. I was 1cm dilated and cervix is coming down but she couldn't get into baby's head so we'll see how it goes. Had the odd foof dagger and cramp but nothing to write home about. Absolutely petrified as I didn't want induction but excited too that I'll meet LO soon. Now come on the rest of you LO's!!!

Doob how exciting, I didnt want an induction either but actually it's nice having a time/date things will be starting instead of looking for constant signs and my induction wasn't bad either except for baby being in an awkward position- hope your LO moves into a better position!! So excited for you to meet LO soon!!!xx

That's the way I'm thinking too, I'm upset about having to book an induction but at the same time I have an end date now.... Guess we should start relaxing and enjoying these last days of freedom! Ill still be trying anything to get him out before induction though. Luckily the hospital has Just changed the policy to 40+10. The other hospital that's closer to be is 40+12. Every cloud lol I just wish they could give me a time but understand they have to schedule them based on what they have in. X

I think I'll be last. If nothing before Sunday I've agreed for my best friend to do a second sweep, if that doesn't work hence its induction next Friday for me
