*****August 2014 Mummies*****

Hi all. Busy day here, woke at 5.45 couldn't get back to sleep, got up baked a cake, did nearly every household chore going, mowed lawn then friends from over afar, so we went out for lunch. Had mini BBQ this eve. So I'm now absolutely pooped.

Was supposed to go to babyshow tomorrow, but OH only got the printer set up with computer today and we discovered you can't get advanced tickets anymore, just on door which are £20, so going to give it a miss at that price. Just as well as think I'll have no energy tomorrow and dropped my iPad on my foot this eve, which is now hurting badly.

Now wondering where we can go to try out slings and baby carriers instead? There's a kiddiecare about 40 miles from us, are they worth going to?

Hope iron tabs start working soon mum2be

Thanks mum2b. Doing good thanks. All going well, getting loads of spots which sucks but went to drs and they've giving me two weeks worth antibiotics to see if it helps!! But can't complain have had it easy compared with others! ;)
Hope alls good with your little one xx

I think I've missed a bit somewhere but mum2b did you get iron tablets prescribed? I still haven't had my blood results back but I think I'm going to need them xx

Hi Leesey- yes hun.....had my bloods taken last Monday and drs rang me Wednesday to say I was anaemic and they'd done me a prescription!...... Started taking them Friday, not noticed a massive difference yet tho :-/

Baby bear- that sucks re spots- my skin goes through phases of being ok then looking awful! Wouldn't say I've bloomed at all this pregnancy! Hope your antibiotics help!

Kaffee- hope the foot is ok today??.... Shame about baby show- my friend went Friday and gave me a load of the freebies as her LO is 8 months now and she didn't need a lot of it :-)..... We tried outlr baby Bjorn out in kiddicare last time and they were quite helpful but not sure how good they r re wraps/ slings??..... Maybe c if there is a local nct sling library near u? They have sling meets and u can try out different ones and when baby is here I think u can hire the slings for a £50 deposit and if not right take it back and try a different one etc......I didn't do much baby wearing last time so I'm no expert!..... U could always start with a trip to kiddicare and c how u go??

My little man has had a temp through the night with two lots of calpol and ibuprofen :-/ He seems ok ish and I think a cold is coming out so its prob just a viral thing...... Always worry though- can't help it!

Hope u all can have a lazy Sunday :-)

I've been on iron tablets for about 2 weeks & only noticing a slight difference now. Well I'm not blacking out anyway so they must be working :) I keep forgetting to take the 3rd at the end of the day so have only had 2 a day for 2 weeks xx

I don't think my anaemia is that bad- I only have to take one a day, not sure of dose though! ...... I was surprised they said I was anaemic just thought I was knackered from pregnancy and a toddler! Xx

Yes hun- didn't u say 11lb possibly? U don't look like you've put 2stone on in your bump pics- must b all baby :-)

Yes they said he's very long and likely to be about 11lb
My first son was 9lb 10 and my daughter was 10lb 4. So very big. More to love. My kids are 9 & 7 this year they are not chunky now tho lol.

Morning ladies :) having a lazy Sunday !
Mum2b, the midwife appt was great, went through everything about the home birth etc and it was great discussing the details and logistics of things.

Hope you enjoyed the shopping yesterday? I haven't had any swelling yet but know is coming x

Kaffee maybe try a sling library? They usually have them in most cities and it could be quite useful? X

That's great! Pleased it went well!..... Shopping was good but got a blister on top of swelling! Prob coz I'd walked all the way round the zoo the day before too! That'll teach me :-/

Wow whoppers! How did u find birthing big babies? My son was 9lb so bit concerned about this one being bigger :-/

Ah , couldn't do so much walking like that without feeling exhausted :)
Please remind me girls not to waste my energy on other threads lol that's why I never joined forums before so will stick with my favourite ones as I have been doing :) xxx

Oh dear......hope no one has got to u!? Just stick with us hun :-)

Ethan is ok but not right.....his eyes r watery and he's snotty and temp has been up (38.5) but its settling for longer now with calpol and ibuprofen...... He still wants to play but he isn't right bless him xx

Hey hun, poor Ethan. Glad he is coping ok with it though, it's amazing how little ones cope. At 38.5 C I would be curled up in bed feeling sorry for myself. Hope he is ok soon. Aaron woke up with a huge swollen pink eye bless him, now will need to stay in the house with him for a few days til it clears :/

No , no one got to me as such as in many ways I hear the same story a lot. It just p*sses me off when people keep implying having a home birth is an unsafe thing to do. I don't expect anyone to agree with my views but as a 'home birther' is irritating to hear over and over again that we are choosing something that is dangerous for our babies. Fine for people to have their opinion and I have mine and I can discuss things in a civilised way, but lowering the tone of a lovely thread isn't for me at all :) xxx

I just saw the thread/posts.......its so hard when u read what someone has typed and it can b read and taken in v different ways!..... I don't ever think u can really tell the 'tone' of what someone writes fully, easy to get misinterpreted or misunderstood!..... I've been caught up in stuff before because something I said got taken the wrong way and its made me v cautious about what I post! (I'm not referring to anything from this forum BTW :-) ). I can totally c where u r coming from and y u said what u said.......I'm hoping for mlu which is within our hospital but I know for certain that u aren't judging me for not having a home birth! ......And I think u r right not to get drawn into an argument on a thread that has generated good discussion and differing views :-)

Thanks hun, hormones may exaggerate how you see things lol and Goodness I wouldn't judge anyone for where they give birth hun :) but do get judged all the time and everywhere for my choice so think I just had to say something even though it may not had been directed at me personally but in general. Hospital and mlu births can indeed be a lovely experience and that's what I try doing everyday for everyone who comes through the doors when I am at work and if I have to go to hospital for mine fine :)

Anyhow, is it a bank holiday in England tomorrow too? Kids off school tomorrow and Thursday ... Will be working tonight but glad DH is off tomorrow too so I get some sleep. x
