******August 2014 mummies******

Congrats sammh!! Another one for team pink! Girl babies def leading the way in August! Xx

Aww thank you! So glad we've got a girl on the way as she has 7 boy cousins lol! Xx

Congrats Sammh on team pink! :)

So in keeping with my nesting, I was just about to go but bedding for cot.. However, in need of advice.. Have seen comments that babies should be in sleeping bags and not covers etc. I know bumpers are 'for show' but didn't realise covers were too. Someone help !! Covers or sleeping bags....? Xx

I used a cover with my daughter and will this time. I also swaddled her and will again she didn't move anywhere lol. I don't like bags I love covers over my arms and feel like I wouldn't want cold arms while I slept. The thing is they change the rules all the time on how to sleep your baby. You end up finding how your baby sleeps best. My dd was swaddled and slept on her side. The say to lay your baby on their back but I always worried if she was sick she would choke so laid her on her side xxx

I think it's all about how you feel. I will be blanket with long sleeve pjs or a sleeping bag. But I have a quilt and think that they are fine as long as baby doesn't move around too much and pull it over there heads. It's all about what you are comfortable with. We have a bumper and a quilt and I will be using all of them. I don't agree in getting anything that you can't use. There are a lot of horror stories out of there x

Covers r fine! Just keep baby 'feet to foot' and tuck them in!..... We went for sleeping bags coz Ethan just kicked covers off all the time! Xxx

Just about to ask the same question... Please explain mum2b.. A first timer here remember lol xx

Sorry- feet to foot is the phrase they use for where u put bubs in the cot......so the babies feet should always b right at the foot of the moses basket/crib/cot so that they can't wriggle down under the covers (as there's no further down for them to go!)...... Mrsm- just to say re quilts- we had a lovely one with our bedding set for Ethan but it said only suitable for 12 months+......It might have just been coz if the thickness of it, but just thought I'd mention it in case xxx

Hey girls how is everyone today? Had a better day today only been sick once so pleased about that! What has everyone brought so far? Any big things? I ordered my pram today I wasn't going to for another 10 weeks but it was on offer and couldn't turn the price down just not going to keep it in the house when it comes xx

Hi hun! Glad u have had a good day in terms of sickness!.... We got our double buggy this weekend and have tried it out with Ethan already! Lol!.... Bought our new cotbed mattress and new furniture for Ethan's new room (to free up nursery) so that's pretty much it on big stuff for us this time! Hoping I can use a friends baby sling as by the time mine comes her baby will be about 5-6months by then xxx

I haven't checked ours, think I'll use a flat sheet and blanket for now and put her at the bottom of the cot.

Thanks mum2b.. When people talk of swaddling are they referring to a regular blanket or an actual special growbag or such like? As far as I understand (not much) you can swaddle by wrapping tightly in a blanket. Sooo much to learn, so little time and I definitely don't know nearly as much as I thought!!

Great news re the pram, what did you go for? We bought ours at 11 weeks and have had in the house ever since :)
We bought a new sofabed type thing today for nursery/step daughters room. She has a double bed in there at the mo but realistically it needs to go, we've managed to squeeze drawers cot bad changing table but has only been a temporary measure. MIL coming down on Sat with apparently a lot of stuff.. I just hope it's useful stuff! Not ungreatful however she does have a habit of buying junk.
Has anyone seen any good deals on blackout blinds? I think this is my only large purchase left :) xx

We swaddled just with blankets with Ethan- but u can get all sorts of swaddle type things! One that comes to mind is a 'swaddle pod'!..... I liked swaddling- just a bit worried this time coz we r having summer babies that its gonna b too hot!!

We went for an Out n About nipper double- there was some money off in kiddicare and will sell our Stokke to help pay for it, but it takes up to 22kg per seat which is great coz Ethan is already over 15kg which is what most buggies seem to go up to! Its really lightweight and easy to push as well! Plan to sell it on when we only need a single again!

Not seen any deals on blackout blinds- eBay might be worth a shot? Xxx

It's good to know that everyone is buying big stuff I still feel a fraud going in to pregnancy shops although think it's ok to start buying now! Sorry weezy don't know of any good deals have u looked on Amazon? We brought the silver cross way fair it was £500 normally without the car seat but had a deal for £500 inc the car seat so couldn't resist! Xx

You can buy swaddle things pre made but I just used a blanket. The swaddle premade things show you having babies arms by there side I crossed my dd arms over her chest and she slept sound. Maybe an old fashioned way but my mum showed me how. When she was older and fighting sleep she knew soon as I started wrapping lol. Regarding summer babies and swaddling. My dd was a winter baby and did wonder how to now with a summer one and I decided to use pram sheets but I went I to debenhams and bought a lovely summer blanket. It's so soft and thin perfect for the job £14 so I'm really happy. I've also got a really thin shawl. I used them last time folded corner to corner to make a triangle xxx

We have our scan this morning. Hopefully we wont find out the gender but I know there is a chance of seeing it on scan. As long as baby is healthy i'll not be caring in the slightest i'm sure.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Thanks for that lilmiss!

Good luck for scans today alanc and mrsm! Xxx
