• May 2016 Mummies •

I've managed about 2 hours broken sleep, still getting back pains and contractions. Will just see how the day pans out x

Oh Emma! Hope this isn't another start stop occasion for you and something happens.

I quite like the idea of a 7lb odd baby, it's just not going to happen. I had no idea with my first to expect a big one, at least I do this time. I've no idea if and how having a smaller one would really be any better!!

Kitty - I normally would totally disregard all fundal height measurements because they just aren't accurate. It works out so close to my sons weight (and midwife/mums palpating can feel she's a decent sized baby already), that it feels about right! Maybe I'll be lucky and she'll slow down over the next few weeks!!

I was desperate by the time I had my sweep off mum. Desperate! She's going to deliver this baby anyway so I'm fairly sure she's going to be doing some more poking around up there. It actually doesn't make me uncomfortable this time around! I think because I'm very aware that she pokes around inside SO many women on an almost daily basis during examinations/sweeps/labour that it really doesn't affect her at all

I'm just surprised she's allowed. I know that one time I was taken into my mums wars and they had to transfer her to a different wars for the day because she wasn't allowed to nurse a family member.

I've been up since 4 with acid reflux (actually more like 2 I'd I'm honest because that's when I first got up
For a drink) I want to sleep but it's too late now lol.

I hope things progress emmam and isn't another false start.

Tigger I think if my mum was a midwife I would have her as mine too, like you say they do it on a regular basis so it's normal for them. I would also have loved to have my mum around to be a birth partner but she passed away then day before my 18th birthday :( so never got the chance.

Jojo I've been given cocodamol for my pgp and sciatica too, not that it takes much pain away though.

Glad you have a plan in place iheartdex and know baby will be here by the 17th at the latest.

I have a drivers awareness course to go to today and I'm not looking forward to sitting on uncomfortable chairs for 2.5hrs. My fault for being naughty though xx

What did you do to deserve that kanga? If you get bored just fake a contraction lol

They won't give me codiene... I mean it's probably good because u go high as a kite on it, but still I bloody hurt! I don't suffer so badly if I take it with paracetamol but still :(

My mums also seen my vagina in its crowning stretched glory lol!!
Ahe was there for Noahs birth and will be again.

Always promised her she could as she never got that chance with my nan as she passed away before she met my dad. She was always worried she wouldnt get a chance to meet her grandchildren. Told her to stop being silly lol!
She now has Noah plus my SIL is due tomorrow with my niece and me next fri lol!!

Ahh kanga i had to do a drivers improvement course when i was 18 it is utterly draining and boring! Sorry! Lol hope it goes fast for u though!

Em hope this is the real deal for u now! X

I hope it's not a knot her false start either....had a few stronger pains whilst I've been up and about but I really need to try and sleep Theo's morning, I know it can slow things down but don't think it will stop it if it's labour.
Chris fell asleep in my bed last night, I'm pleased he came round as he wouldn't have settled at home but has slept ok upstairs-I've left him in bed, was nice to have him here though x

Finally fully cooked today!!!! I'm hoping she arrives the same time as Oscar at 39+1 which would mean I've only got 15 days to wait. Knowing our luck, she'll make us wait 2 weeks after due date so could be another 35 days

I spoke to our solicitor yesterday, they reckon everything could be sorted for the move in 4-6 weeks which is worrying me a little! Our estate agents said more like 12 weeks initially which I was ok with as it gives plenty of time to settle with the new baby before packing up and moving.

Emma I hope this is finally it for you now!

I wouldn't let my mum anywhere near me during labour last time, and I won't be this time either. OH and I have said that depending on what time of day baby decides to arrive, we might wait a few hours before calling mum to let her know so she can't come and visit straight away - sounds awful I know but we're not the closest and she just winds me up. I want to really try and enjoy those first few hours with baby and OH before she starts trying to get too involved.

Xxx

I couldn't imagine having my mum with me during labour, she's been there for all my nieces and nephews but none of mine.
God I wish these pains would ramp up or bugger off. Can't wait to get the kids to school so I can just potter and sleep x

I was following my dad when in Lincoln and didn't know where I was going. So went across a level crossing when the lights started to flash so doing a level cross safety course rather than getting points. Least it will be different to the speed one I did over 6yrs ago! I am a safe driver honest lol xx

Naughty kanga!

My mum was quth me last time I was in labour (didn't have a look though but only because I was rushed to theatre before I could do it naturally, but I coils r be doing with her is j g her fingers up there lol. My mum wasn't supposed to be there actually, she just nipped in on the way to work to see me and kicked off because I was in so much pain and they weren't controlling it correctly, then she stayed ok ftwe my epidural and then I started to progress.. She aakesnidni wanted her to stay and she did... Then yhw moat epic of labour events happened lol... I projectile vomited ans my mum just grabbed a kisnwy dish and caught it before it hit her blouse lol the midwife have her. Clap she was so impressed! Anyway directly after that Luke went into distress and she didn't want to leave so she was there- in fact she held my son Before I did and I'm
Totally fine with that.. Sometimes I think her being there is half the reason he's so close to her :)
I
Loved her being there, but delivering? No thanks lol

Scratch that! I've had a call this morning from midwife coordinator and they're moving my section to Tuesday! So that's 5 days to go!

Wooo! How exciting? How come they're moving it? Do you feel like you've got everything ready yet? It must be such a strange feeling knowing the exact day you'll meet your baby, wish I knew lol. Xxx

Must be nice to have an exact countdown.

I'm still getting pains, they just need to get more painful and il be happier lol x

It's not often we want stronger pains is it?! Lol hoping something kicks off properly for you soon. Xxx

They're losing a day of schedules sections due to bank holiday so they're bumping a few people up a day and as I've had reduced movement, spd and measuring big they decided I was an ideal candidate... Hubby is. Little gutted that we'll miss out on starwars day though lol

I'm currently scheduled for a morning section (unless there's an emergency or something) so should be hopefully home on the Wednesday

Oh exciting Jojo! I've a feeling this thread is going to kick off a lot more next week with baby news! I'm sure I'll keep my news till the very end of May though...!!!

I'm on single count down of work days left now. 2 weeks, 8 working days after today. I keep thinking I'm tempted to push it another week perhaps just for more time the other end but I'm quite tired already so probably won't!!!

Mums allowed to do midwifery care because there's no issues. If I need to be transferred for any reason or any problems crop up, she's already told me she'll be handing over. Which is fine. A lot of her colleagues do the same with their daughters - she's cleared it with her manager so no problems.
