They mentioned it over a month ago as a possibility and he said no then, but they obviously didn't listen. He's just been home to pick up a bag as he's away tonight aswell, yet there's his 'manager' sat in the office doing naff all, why he couldn't go I don't know. He's told them how Ireland is just too far away and too close to due date, but the woman in the office who organises the jobs (and has no children of her own) said that there's plenty of time before the due date, what are you worrying about?! Yes, I might go two weeks over, but there's every chance I could go early again like I did with Oscar, so why risk being so far away?! Drives me mad as this was never the job he signed up for.
OH is understandably pissed off with it all and threatening to look for a new job, which I obviously would love but with moving house, he's got to be in a secure job to get the mortgage sorted, so he needs to wait it out really. Either option just seems pants at the minute. Put me on a right downer when I started the day in such a good mood :-(

Goodness Kanga, three weeks seems so soon doesn't it! Hopefully everything will be ok and he's continued to grow nicely since your last scan so you can carry on as you were. Good luck :-)

I too am really uncomfortable today, baby has been popping in and out of being engaged for a few days but today definitely engaged. Had to take the dog for a walk and had to cut our normal route short. Pottered about this morning doing some washing loads while the sun is shining but I think I am now actually broken. Sitting down hasn't helped at all. Pain is getting worse and then easing off a bit and then ramps up again. 37 weeks on Saturday so really doubt this is the start of anything. Gonna take some paractemaol and sit on ball for a bit to see if anything eases. Feels like baby is trying to break through by pubic bone.

There's No way I'd be letting my partner go to Ireland this close to due date...hate bloody pencil pushers who think they know everything. Can't you trip him up and damage his leg so he can't go? Lol x

I'm really fed up today, tightenings are more frequent so I've come for a bath in the hope they'll either stop or crank up a gear x

Aldis baby & toddler vent is back next thurs girls.

New stuff from last time and new cute designs on the towels and muslins etc :) x

Had a busy day today! I've cleaned bathroom and bedroom and put clothes away, sorted out kitchen cupboards. Then had to go collect son from his first day of nursery. Apparently he did really well, no tears all day, ate a little bit of food, played and ran around and has a lot of fun. Someone tipped over a bin and he put it right then went to wash his hands... And this afternoon a little girl fell ove and cries so he went over and strokes her knee saying "awwwww no!" I had to chase him around the playground to get him to come home again.

Then had midwife appointment and everything is perfect but she told me not to hold off off contractions pick up again and get straight onto the hospital.

Haha that's not a bad idea! He's already got a bad leg, maybe he should play on it a little...but knowing our luck it would turn bad and he'd be useless at home anyway lol.

Don't tell me that, I've already got so many Muslins but I just love the aldi ones. I really don't need to buy anything else, but I know I won't be able to resist!

Bless him Jojo, he sounds like a lovely little boy :-) glad it went well, I know how horrible first days can be (especially for parents!) from working in a nursery.

We've just got back from the park and food shopping, Oscar fell asleep in the car, he normally wakes up as soon as I open the door, but he's on the sofa out of it....I ran in the house to stick his tea on, it's ready but no sign of him waking up. I need to get him changed for bed, hoping he either stays asleep, or wakes up enough for tea then goes to bed ok...really hope he doesn't think he's had a nap now needs to play for hours before bed!

the tesco one starts tomorrow and runs until 3rd may (perfect timing)

oilatum stuff is 1/3 off, perfect prep machines are £66.66! (awesome price!!) timme toppee bottles are £15 off and are just £10. mam bottles are 1/3 off too and they usually have some great deals on the clothing section too... perfect timing for us! i have vouchers too and im a little excited lol. i love me some tesco.

muslins are things i never did use very much, i have some still in the box from when i had my first!

they usually do good deals on pampers and wipes but im a strict tesco own nappy lady.

asda have one going too! they seem to have them every 3 months or so because they had one in jan/feb time when i got my prep for £33 (i had some vouchers too)

Preps r £60 in asda and amazon atm. I got the black prep off amazon and it arrived today :) as a just incase i cant bf and end up having a c section. Itll come in handy im sure lol!

I wouldn't be without my prep now. We didn't get it until Oscar was 3 months when OH had a £100 voucher from work for Xmas, so we treated ourselves lol. I lent it to my Aunty for her baby but she hasn't used it :-O

I only want to bf till 6-7months if successful as ill be returning to work and dnt want to be expressing constantly for that.
So itll defo come in handy before he moves to cows milk. So if anything ill grt a gd few months out of it at some point xx

im not sure what to do with bf.
i have dodgy nipples so i expressed for 6 weeks last time and it got me so down i felt depressed it its harder woth a 2yr old so probably express in hospital and then onto formula when i get home. i feel like im not trying enough but i really dont want to express again and my boobs dont work like they should.

my son was ff and hes not had one single infection or need for antibiotics, just a few colds and thats it so obviously his immune system was fin.

Aw hun i only lasted till day 5 with Noah and bfing.
I have infected nipples that were pussing and bleeding aswell as mastitis in both boobs leading to antibiotics.

Im drfo not putting the same pressure on myself again! I wasnt happy, it was horrible!

I need to stay positive cos im already nervous about being a single mum as it is.. Ideally if bfing works tll be easier than faffing with bottles but if not the prep will help and bottles only take a few mins to sterlise.
Ao im defo just going in with a what ever will be attitude!

I wanted to bf last time but just didn't persevere long enough, totally regret it now but my god were my nipples sore!! I feel a bit more prepared this time round, but don't want to pressure myself too much just incase it doesn't work out.
Oscar has had a few lots of antibiotics already, and is dairy free....I often wonder if it would have been different if he was bf for longer.... Xxx

I plan on brrastfeeding again, I don't want the added cost of formula when breast milk is free. I managed to 11.5 months will both the boys so hopefully I will be able to preserve like I did with them. It certainly isn't easy to breast feed but does get easier. Although from 8-9 months they both had formula for when I was at work as I didn't want to express all the time. I feel lucky that I have been able to breastfed and obviously would use formula if I really couldn't do it for whatever reason. It is so hard to be the sole person who can feed baby though xx

Hey ladies, hope you are all well. Havent been on in a while. Just wondered if anyone has experienced a "burrowing" type feeling down below?!

Baby is head down and I was wondering whether she is starting to engage?!

Lower half belly pains most of the night, stopped now. Hardly slept. Midwife app today for my week late 36 week check.

I breastfed my first until 18m, the first month was SO hard (I remember a crack around my nipple that looked like it might fall off at any point!), but by 2 months it was the easiest thing in the world. I think everyone is led to believe it's this lovely natural thing that just happens - but babies need to learn how to do it, too, and they're not all very good at it!! I know I'll try and persevere through again this time but I have a lot of extra support. My mums trained in helping support BF (midwife) and she's more than happy to come over at 4am if I couldn't get him to latch!!

Hey Poispinner, long time!! I keep getting nights where I'm getting really heavy achey feelings - like constant period pains, and then my bumps dropped the next day. She's still free though so she's obviously popping in and out! Hopefully with your first, once engaged, baby will stay that way xx

Ive decided that in not gonna read anything into the pains/niggles/discomfort until something definite happens. Fed up of thinking 'what if' only for it all to die down, must have had 6+ episodes of niggles/pains/contractions yesterday but nothing today.
Il just go by the fact that this time next month he will definitely be here x

Someone I know had hose pains from 34 weeks and still went overdue lol bloody unreliable lying bodies!

I had problems with my first... Basically he seemed hungry all the time for first 24hra, so
Much so they kept taking him away to top him up with formula...I was sure he wasn't taking it but they said he was - I transferred to another hospital closer to home (I was in 4 days after birth) and during the night a wonderful mw came in because I was crying - he just kept trying and trying but atopped and was screaming... Turns out she had been a specialist BF midwife and watched for a while and said he wasn't getting anything and probably hadn't since he was boenZ we tried nipple shields, all kinds but my nipples are totally flat and he has problems latching because of the shape... He was starving!! She suggested I express and I did and he was like a different baby! I dread to think what would've happened if they hadn't picked it up! I regulates they dish argue me on the Thursday because I needs to go home and they made me primaries to buy bottles and formula on the way home in case... I had such an issue with the expressing (I did keep on trying him on the breast... Tried expressing first little bit and seeing if it brought nipple put but it didnt. I did it for weeks and weeks and o was just so fed up I went to combo feeding to save on time overnight so I could sleep... Then I realised I was just changing nappy, feeding, expressing and having less than an hour before having to do it all again and was getting me so down so k stopped and o was so
Much happier and Luke was happier because i had more time with him.

I'm not going through it again

Just had my supervisor midwife visit, they were here 1.5hrs and it was so good. She was very supportive of all my choices and gave me all of the risk factors. She has basically ok'ed a homebirth with my previous section, previous retained placenta and previous gbs positive risks as long as baby is above the 10th centile at our next scan.

She was most concerned about baby measuring small and possibly not coping as well in labour, as smaller babies don't necessarily have enough reserves to get them through the contractions. She likened it to if she was to dunk me under water for the length of a contraction at each contraction then I would obviously cope with that for while but it does depend on my fitness level and it's the same with baby they can only cope with the stress of contractions for so long and in smaller babies it is usually less time.

So if baby is measuring under the 10th centile or there are any other complications then I will take the advice from the consultant team with regards to induction and being in labour ward. She did say they can still offer wireless continuous monitoring and possibly the pool on labour ward too should I wish.

So overall I feel relieved and happy to have some plans in place, it's all down to how baby grows in the next 3 weeks xx
