It's slightly scary how close it is (exactly 3 weeks till May 1st ;) )
I'm at the stage now where I can say 'this time next week he might be here' even though it's unlikely before 39 weeks you never know.
My sisters best friend had 2 overdue babies then 3 weeks before her due date with number 3 she was going upstairs to the toilet, waters broke on the stairs and she gave birth in the bathroom a few minutes later!

Not been on for ages ladies. Thought i was going to keep up to date on everything a guy needed to know from you all. Anyways since i was last on we found out we are having a girl (just what i needed) and she is due on May 7th. God knows whether we will be sooner or later than that date. Its our first and my better half says last.

Its getting nore real every day now.

Happy 37 weeks :)
My hubby always saying I'm fat, and if the sofa creaks he finds it hilarious. Men are awful! Mind you I can't wait to have my belly back! I do feel ginormous

Every now and again as my wife drags her bum and bump passed me i have a wee snigger. Its usually met with "dont laugh at me, its not funny." It just sets me off more.

I hurt. I hurt so much it's brought me to tears.
Between the spasm in my back, my hips and my braxton hicks I hurt

Put a thread in labour section but going to ask in here aswell as seems to be more high traffic.......

Im wondering (worrying) how much time im going to have to get to my wife. Ive mentioned before im a nightshift lorry driver and travel from near Glasgow to Liverpool and back each night. The other night one of my tyres blew out on the motorway leaving me stranded at roadside overnight and then all the next day away from home before coming up the road again the next night. Now thats unusual but normally im away between 5pm and 4am. You just know thats when the wee one is going to want to make her entrance to the world.

My work have said they will sort my leave out once we have the child so that im not booking any time off i dont need. They also said they would prefer other than me going on a shift and having to abort the mission that if my wife felt she was due then to not come in that night. That all sounds too easy lol so we know im going to be on route to Liverpool when it happens.

So how much time have i realistically got. The class i attended with the midwife made it sound like ive got ages through the labour period and should be ok for time. Im looking for how long you ladies have been in Labour for and do you know when to call your men? Her mum will be with her for the last week as shes getting near when im on nightshift and my mum and brother are just round the corner. Obviously i dont want to miss potentially my only child being born or supporting my wife but ive just got this feeling that ill be away and that will mean years of.........

Mrs H4L: "what do you care, you couldnt even be there for the birth"

Baby H4L: "screw you Dad you werent even there for me when i was born"

lighthearted but you get where im coming from.

Nice to see you back h4l....everyone's labour is different so I can only speak from personal experience, my first labour I started getting niggles at lunchtime on the Sunday and gave birth 24 hours later, my second was pretty much the same except the niggles started at night, 3rd labour I niggled all day then finally went to hospital at 6pm but had a section at 10pm and my 4th labour I started with niggles about 2pm and he was born at 5am so for me labour is a long haul. But some women labour quicker and some start with waters breaking rather than pains xx

Cheers Em.

Looking forward to it but this added pressure of wondering whether ill make it or not is getting me nervous.

I'm sure you'll be ok....try and work out the worst case scenario for example the tyre blowing like you said earlier...try and figure out a plan of what you could do to get home-a colleague coming out to sit with the lorry and you taking their car back to the yard to collect yours as a possible option? x

Yeh it shouod be fine.

I dont start till 6pm so i leave the house at 5pm. If she has any feelings at all then im not going. If she doesnt then im maximum 10 hours away from being there.

My days off that week are 6/7/8 of may and we are due on 7th. If there is any luck..... Lol not a chance is there?

NEW IT!!!!!!!

Just had my private scan.

Charlies breech :( I new my MW was wrong!!
Going to call her tomorrow to let her no she was lol, arrange for a referral to see if they can get him turned.
Homebirth plans r going out the window otherwise!

C section is my worst nigtmare! So im praying he either moves himself or they can turn him.

Hes est 7lbs and measuring a week ahead from scan too, so im worried, if thats right, that hell grt to big to turn! Xx

My bro turned at 41 weeks lol never too late.y bump has dropped within the space of three hours

My hosps policy is normally not turned by 37wks and they cant do it ill have a c sec booked between 39/40 anyway. But would love to avoid that lol!

Need to call mw as shes been skipping weeks and ive been aeeing her later than normal for my apps so this really ahould of be picked up last week. He may turn im sure. But he seems fairly comfy at the scan lol x

Mind my bro was born 34 years ago so hardly current practice but he turned on his own. I wonder if baby turned before 39 weeks on its own they would let you labour naturally.

I no, my brothers 22 and they let my mum go 17days over and attempt to deliver a 11lb 3 baby before after hrs of pushing then decided a c sec was best lol!
SOD going 17days over and SOD attempting a 11lber haha!

I'll defo ask about that ifni do end up havig one booked, cos if he does turn i really would just like to go naturally!

Ill call mw tomorrow and see whats what xx

Oh no, I can't believe he is breech! You don't have to have a c section if he is in a good breech position though, I would attempt a vaginal breech over c section any day. As far as I am aware if your booked in for a c section for breech they will scan the same day just to make sure baby hasn't turned so you don't have to go through with the c section.

H4l my 1st was 11 days late and started with niggles around 4-5pm, I had him at 3:43am. My 2nd was 2 days late started with niggles at 9am, had him at 3:03pm.

I've been stressing even more about baby and his size and from what I've read online (I know I shouldn't Google) if he stays small and his tummy measurements doesn't really pick up then I could be induced by 37 weeks! As they don't like them to stay in longer, I've not seen any stories of iugr (inter uterine growth restriction) babies being left past 39 weeks. So really don't see a home birth happening, which I think I am at peace with, just worried that he may be brought into the world at my next growth scan at 35 weeks and I'm not ready for that! xx

With my little boy, I *knew* for definite it was happening about 5.30pm, my OH was pretty redundant until about 9.30pm when labour really started and when I really needed his support, and baby was born at 00.44.

Babyslog have you considered a natural birth even if they can't get him to turn? I think it's less risky if you've already had one naturally anyway, so if a c section scares you so much it might be an option. I've not had any breech scares but I've talked it over at length with my mum and I know I'd try naturally if she WAS breech. You just need a confident midwife who's got some experience - they tend to jump to c sec now I think because of the lack of confidence and experience in it. I'm sure it'll all be fine anyway.

It's so weird, we're all due the same month, and to read you all writing about how close it is - I still feel MONTHS away from having a baby! I know this is going to come and bite me. She'll be late like her brother though. I reckon just before midnight on May 31st

Oh no! Hopefully Charlie gets a wiggle on soon so you can still try for your homebirth. These babies don't like to make things straightforward do they!

With Oscar, my waters 'went' (started leaking!) around 3am Thursday morning. Nothing else happened so I went in for induction Friday afternoon, but didn't get anything started until midday Saturday. They broke the rest of my waters around 1pm and contractions started pretty much straight away, Oscar was born at 9.32. So it was a long process, but actual labour was pretty quick for me. It's impossible to know what's going to happen, so best to have a back-up plan just in case.

I'm not feeling too good today :-/ got a pounding head that just won't go away (I've even had paracetamol which I always try and avoid, and it's barely touched it). I feel all fuzzy and just 'off'. I've also still got this pain in my back/side, right in the bottom of my ribs but it's now creeping round to the front so no idea what it is.

Xxx

I feel like such a bad mum sometimes listening to you all desperately trying to avoid a c-sec when I've decided to have a elective but it's right decision for me.
I doubt they would induce a baby for being small at 35wks unless there had been little to no growth... I'd think they would wait till at least 37.

When I was born at 40wks I was 5lbs 4oz... I hadn't grown, but they left it longer then.

Dnt feel like a bad mum hun!!! I only dont want one due to my mums going wrong (was 22yrs ago mind) but her epi didnt work properly but she was ao doses up on other meds she couldnt speak and it was only until my dad noticed her face that he realised something wasnt right) my mum felt them cut her open! Ergh!

Not only that, but I know i have alot of support and the boys dad will help as muxh as poss, but being newly single te thought of recovering from a c section with a toddler who wont understand seems so scary.

Not really thought about attempting to try naturally breech, id be so scared he'd move into a bad position. I dnt think id relax one bit in labour.
Ahh no point thinking to much into it until i know whats what with their attempts to turn him i spose! Xx
